Hi, I live in the u.k and I watch this quite often. Most Americans don’t seem to understand British humour but you do. Karl is seriously funny because he’s so naive to other cultures, he doesn’t know what to do, he’s out of his comfort zone. It’s great to see an American who understands the humour.

I've been to Egypt (Sharm el sheikh) and the amount of people who come up to you wanting you in their restaurants/bars trying to sell you something is INSANE ! It's so annoying .

I remember a game called Sleeping Dogs set in Hong Kong. You could get a "tourist" outfit in the game and if you wore it all the prices in the shops and the night market went up.

I stayed in a home stay in Alleppey, India, the bed there was just a mattress cover stuffed with sheets of cardboard, It wasn't the comfiest bed I've slept in, but what really made me think was that the homeowner and his wife had both made beds up on the floor and they slept there, they were allowing us to use their beds they would normally sleep on, props to them for putting up with it for so long when I could barely put up with it for a few nights!

It's worth noting that, as Karl said in the Podcasts, Egypt was the first one they filmed. So Karl's complaints about the hotel room are even better when you realise that _THAT_ was his first experience on An Idiot Abroad.

I lived in Cairo and studied Arabic there. It was a big culture shock moving there from the UK, but you scratch under the surface and get to know people and it’s an amazing country. Brought back fond memories of exploring Cairo.

Hi Josh mate from Reading in the UK! (Ricky's hometown as well) Been watching your channel for a while now and I'm so glad you've discovered the genius that is Karl Pilkington! You upload every night just as I begin my weed and chill before bed which is great lol. Keep up the Karl videos mate and can I request you have a listen to some of the old XFM radio shows these 3 used to do together?! They were a bit younger and ruder then and it was a bit of a free for all. No video but there is audio all over KZfaq which will have you dying bro! Peace from England dude x

British translation: Yep, 'mozzie' is slang for mosquito :) Michael Palin, coincidentally, is a Monty Python member who has also done travel programmes since the '80s! 'Big Issue' is a magazine often sold on UK streets by people who are short for money Nappy = diaper Jenga = a British game involving unsteady stacks of wooden blocks ('It's like a game of Jenga that's got out of hand') 'to get one's head down' = to get to sleep

See, as much as Karl moans he has learnt something’s on these trips about himself. I think he’d be quiet happy in a world where the old Indian guru was religion, the caves were his home, the culture was Mexican and the wall between Palestine & Isreal never existed. All things I’m sure he’d never even thought about before this.

You gave me a reason to watch, Idiot abroad again, thanks. Found your page this morning and have been watching it all day. You're doing a great job. One piece of archive is that you can comment more as you're watching the video. I don't mean pause the video and comment, but you can throw your 2 cents in there randomly as the video plays. Anyway great videos, keep up the good work. I have some suggestions but i think we probably watch the same stuff. Haha so anything I suggest you have probably already seen.

I’ve just realised that when Karl asks if he can get money off the statue because the nose is broken off that he doesn’t realise it’s like that in real life lol, the shopkeepers reaction is brilliant he just doesn’t even try to explain, just shakes his head😂

Loved the haggling, I went to Egypt for my honeymoon, my wife was on at me all holiday to try and haggle. Anyway we wanted some Egyptian paper called Papyrus paper, so we went to a place called Narma Bay. At the end of the night we went to this shop and the owner called himself the Egyptian Lionel Blair, anyway we went in to his shop and my wife seen the Papyrus paper she wanted and Lionel said "that's 90 Egyptian pounds" , I said "too much" my wife said "what you doing you're going to balls this up" I said "relax I've got 50 left in my wallet I'll get this for 50" any way after 20 mins of haggling Lionel said "what price do you want to pay" " 50 Egyptian puinds" he said go on then " your robbing me here" I gave him the 50 he shouts "what's this? " I said 50 Egyptian pounds he " this is 50 cent not pounds" that's all I had on me he wasn't happy he was going apeshit for wasting his time and m wife calling me a knob head.

It makes sense to be selling live animals given the heat. It's a good way around keeping them fresh without refrigeration. It's actually environmentally friendly.

It's great being able to re-watch this with you, once you're done with it you should consider checking out the lesser spoken about "moaning of life" which I liked because Carl had more freedom to do what he wanted and so was an interesting (and funny) watch :D

Mont Python is great - silly, wacky comedy but intelligent at the same time. 'The Life of Brian' is a fantastic film, probably my favourite comedy film.

Please try and watch, DEREK, that Ricky Gervais wrote and starred in. Karl didn’t want to be in the two series produced, but Ricky managed to get him to act, or really just be his hilarious self, playing the caretaker in a care home. Absolutely fab!
