Karl did a regular feature on the XFM radio show called "Do We Need Em". He picked an animal each week and rang an "expert" on it and tried to convince them the animal was useless.

The reason I ask, (not wanting to cause any embarrassment here incase I am wrong) is that I find it extremely sad that a person feels the need to make comments intented to be sarcastic /tactless (trolling). If this is the case, whether you know an individual, or you have never even met, I suggest that you go for counselling. It is not normal behaviour, it ONLY states that it is YOU with an issue, and therefore PROJECTING your FEELINGS upon another person. This is purely to MAKE YOU FEEL better in order TO VICTIMISE someone else. It's called "Self Projection" and fits under the narcissistic criteria. "I'm surprised you're asking though, Steve" was a dig at Stephen's looks - he wouldn't want to look like Steve, if he ever had a choice. From the earliest days, on radio shows, Karl has been mean to Steve about his eyes, glasses, accent, height etc.

The reason Karl said “I’m surprised you are asking me that Steve” is because when Karl first met Steve he thought he looked very strange and it took him a while to get used to how he looked 😅

The myth about the painting and houses burning down in the 80s was actually that some houses that burnt down had that painting and it was the only thing not burnt. It apparently happened a few times, creating the myth that the painting was cursed. So once again Karl is almost right. It’s all bollocks of course 😂

When the lady said "they're so mean to him" ....if you listen to the full podcasts and the radio shows on XFM, you'll find Karl can be equally as mean, especially to Steve about his looks 😂 they're all as bad as each other really, but because Karl is such an idiot, they're only showing footage of Ricky and Steve making fun of him. this show is not meant to be taken seriously. Karl never cared about being poked with a stick so you shouldn't too lol

That being said, Karl was much more nicer to Steve in the podcasts, even though he manages to get few digs at him, and even on Idiot Abroad. On the XFM show though, Karl was a SAVAGE. But as they all say, they're all mates and taking the piss out of someone is just part of a good friendship.

It's also probably also worth mentioning that a lot of British people tend to behave like this. Making fun of each other in a light-hearted way is pretty common amongst close friends and family. It's also not uncommon for people to "cross the line" and say something hurtful but to an extent most people are able to be playful and engage with one another in this way.

The story behind that crying boy picture, which I still don’t believe, was that after the houses were put out, the picture was supposedly the only item in there not affected by the fire. Poor Karl has such difficulty when it comes to retelling stories. He’s always leaving out the crucial details that could make the point he’s attempting to make even a possibility.

In the radio shows, Karl does a series where he calls experts and asks them if certain animals are important or can we get rid of them. The radio shows are hours upon hours of laughter! You'd love it but you could only really listen to it yourself rather than reacting to it. I listen to it around the house or when I'm out somewhere. It would be great to know what you think of it

14:33 According to an interview they did to Stephen not long ago, the story of the neighbour with the horse is one of the first stories Karl told Stephen and Ricky in their radio program, and that is when they realised Karl was a gold mine. Some time after that they decided to do the podcast. That's why Stephen says here that it is old news.

Paul the party animal Parker is reference to a character they talked about it their XFM radio show. Which is hours and hours more of this stuff without animation. This is one of the best animated shows in the series - brilliant haha

Really enjoy your channel. If you get a chance search Karl vs Steve. Ricky and Steve did a radio show and Karl was the producer. That's how they met. Karl and Steve would get into ball busting and it's hilarious! Thanks again!

All these podcasts are taken from their time on the radio station called XFM. If you search for XFM Season 1-5 on youtube you'll see everything, probably too long to do videos one each episode but if you enjoy these you'll love listening to them! Not sure if anyone's told you guys this before :P

To help you get a view of the way Ricky and Karl look at Steve, you should check out a scene from the UK Office where Steve plays a character called Nathan AKA 'The Oggmonster.' That scene will tell you what Karl thinks of Steve; he bascially could've plucked that image straight out of Karl's head. In fact, Ricky probably wrote that part with Steve in mind.

Oh, and I've noticed no-one seems to have been recommending Tim Vine - he churns out pun after pun, it's amazing how many he comes up with! Perhaps a 'best of' or live at the apollo would be a good intro, but all of his shows are worth a look.
