You don't remember eve being trigger happy? She blows up an entire cargo ship and fires at Wall-e at least 3 times (just watched the movie again with my son. Eve fires at Wall-E 4 times)

Holy shit this really brought me back. Sometimes I wondered if I hallucinated this game back then, so it was an absolute blast from the past watching this. And much like you, I never got far in it because of how difficult it was for a kid. Or maybe, I was just a dumb kid. Either way, thank you so much!

@@StibWoods hell yeah! I mean genuinely I wasn’t kidding the speedrun scenes of games like that are so cool and tight knit and like genuinely passionate about their game. I’m glad you got to include that part of this video, and I’m glad you were willing to showcase this game just, in general!

7:10 these death cutscenes also show up in the Ratatouille video game that Asobo made. Asobo apairently really likes to traumatise children. That explains why in A Tale Plague: Innocence and A Plague Tale: Reqium Asobo desided to put their protagonists - who are children - constantly in traumatizing situations.

Very well-crafted and funny video!! The quick look at the Speedrunning community was appreciated too and it was cool that you joined the Discord for questions. I plan to run the game again sometime soon since my interest in it has risen again (though it never really left), so thanks for shedding some more light on the game!

Okay after finishing the video, gotta say, pretty well done. *Very* shocking to learn that there is an active speedrunning community for this game. That's honestly pretty dope. Also, as a game dev, game dev enthusiast, cut content fanatic, and archivist, it's wild to learn that there are completely different versions of some levels between versions of this game. I'd love to see if there's a "definitive edition" or "restoration mod" for the PC version of the game that allows the player access to both versions of the levels. If not, I would bet speedrunning would be quite a chore just due to the differences. It's hard to get one's hands on 6th and 7th gen consoles and games these days, after all. Also fun fact: According to TCRF, the PSP version of the game has 8 test maps left over in it (one crashes the game.) There's no page for the PS2 or 360 versions of the game, so it's hard to say if there's anything neat hiding in those versions, but the PC port actually has an unused HDR mode that can be accessed by editing your setup.cfg file.

The 'this game put fear of death in me' is so true. The black screen of death and eternal abyss sure did scare the hell out of kid me *on the note of 'games nobody cares about' - anyone remember Surf's Up games? Still keep a PSP to play this one when the mood is right

I remember replaying through this game earlier this year and I beat it, honestly loved the hell out of it. The first time I ever played it was way back in 2008 when I was 7 years old at the apple store. They had some computers out with games and beside Lego Batman I played this Wall-E game. After that day I never got to play it until it randomly appeared on steam that sparked that memory. For a game that came out in 2008 that was a tie in for a movie it holds up really well.

I have so much nostalgia playing this game. I have a memory burnt into my brain of lil me playing the PSP version of the game while visiting my step dad in his old flat. I remember not knowing the concept of loading a previous save was, meaning i played the opening levels a LOT (i don't think i saw beyond Hidden Treasure). I can't remember what happened to my PSP or my copy of the game, but i haven't seen either for a decade. I finally got round to playing the game in it's entirety a couple of years ago. I totally agree that the game starts to fall off during the Axiom levels, but i didn't mind them too much & was happy i got to fill in a missing gap from my childhood

This content is great, I'm so glad youtube recommended it to me. If there's anything worth mentioning, I feel like the mixing on the background music is a little inconsistent? Just seems quiet in certain segments, especially when speaking about the soundtrack. Other times, it's a bit loud. This may be because I'm hard of hearing though haha. Keep up the great work!

Oh my God was the PC game literally just the PSP game ported to PC? That's insane, I had this game on PSP and, to be honest I actually quite enjoyed it as a kid. What I found to be the most interesting part of it all was how it was clearly being made alongside the movie, as the story follows the original story of the film (specifically how Wall-E saves Eve near the end rather than the other way around, you can see in the Wall-E Deleted Scenes that this was the movie's original story.) There's a good chance that you touch on *all* of this in the video here but I like to talk and I'm only 40 seconds in.

Actually the game wasn't necessarily "ported" from one platform or another. It was released for Nintendo DS, PS2 and PSP, PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii too. Even worse, each generation had different content. PS2 and PSP had 18 worlds to explore, PS3 XBox 360 and Wii had 9: half the content.

My copy of the Wall-E game is made for windows xp sp2 and later, by default the resolution is just a square and graphics are very low, i don't remember any display options being in the game so, that sucks. :P It's great that youtube recommended this video to me! :3

Wow, I had no idea the game was different for the different consoles, me and my younger brother played this on our Xbox 360 and it had no prologue. We also had Evil shopping carts that followed us and exploded when it got to close. Also when EVE came down to Earth we were able to control her and fly around an open map as her. the only time Wall-E could shoot was when he got EVE's gun. there were a couple of missions where it was both Wall-e and EVE and EVE could help Wall-E glide to go over large gaps. We had a PVP mode in the 360 game and we could even find EVE's gun and use it to destroy the other player. I think the 360 version was the better version compared to this
