The reason for the other Wall-E deactivation is due to a lack of emotions. Wall-E is still active because he feels emotions. This is shown in the film of Wall-E near the ending where Eve fixed Wall-E but reset his factions until Eve gives Wall-E a goodbye kiss, where he gets his memories back.

the only thing is about this and about the game is that if wall-e was fixed but was a normal robot without emotions and worked fine as a robot but from these comics the other robots like the new things like lipstick which shows they have emotions and the fact popeye got sad when the lipstick was taken away so them being deactivated randomly makes no sense. The video game dosent sound right either if wall-e can find working parts for himself.

I like to think that Andy made it to the Axiom where his wife and kids are and when the captain asked him how clean earth had become he just responds: “Clean?” This would then be the inciting incident in the leaders realizing that operation cleanup failed and it would be better to stay in space then return to earth.

I'd like to think the opposite, that the Axiom was gonna not send any more EVE units, until Andy arrived and said "Well, they are working on it.". Otherwise why keep sending "Extraterrestrial Vegetation Evaluator" units if they had completely given up on the planet being habitable. The fact he could breath in atmosphere shows the planet WAS getting better, as the CEO of Buy N Large was using a breathing respirator in his last transmission. But Andy didn't seem to need one even after going through the dust storm. Meaning the air was seemingly more habitable.

At first I didnt get why the other Wall-Es didnt recharge, considering they use solar energy. But seeing all of them,not just Wall-E himself, are somewhat conscious, what if they knew it was over, humans were not returning to earth nor clean the planet, and they just.. gave up,except for the protagonist, and let themselves run out of batter forever. Or maybe they just got lost while venturing out.

As much as I disagree with how Andy is handled in the last few issues (that time he snaps at Wall-E just didn't sit right with me), I find the idea of one human being left behind on a desolate, lonely Earth while the rest of humanity migrates into a luxury paradise really fascinating and heartbreaking. Andy's journey to find the Axiom and join the rest of humanity could be its own spinoff story, honestly. Although I agree why people don't like him, I myself can't bring myself to hate him. I just wish he was written a little better, is all.

@X-SPONGED He probably did. Axioms were on the outskirts of Sollar Sysem, in the Cupier Belt (so just behind Pluto), and in the movie, Wall-E got to the Axiom on a rocket in what I assume was a relatively short time. So, I don't think Andy's rocket would have problem reaching them. The real issue is, if he could find them in the vastness of space. Bur I think maybe he could pick up Axioms signals, and find them thanks to that. Also, he probably could begun broadcasting SOS signals and be eventually rescued by Axioms who by that time were still operated by first generation of humans

I kinda like the idea that his personality was a "malfunction" like the other ones in the movie that were locked up in the robot looney bin. It's that "malfunction" that effected Eve and caused her to think for her self and develop her own personality.
@Lawnmower737
@Lawnmower737 4 ай бұрын
What I personally think is that judging by the last four comics, all of the wall-e units had a personality. I think the AI malfunction that caused Wall-E to give him emotions and personality also happened to the other robots, all of them developing their own characters, BULL-E for instance felt human emotions and traits of anger, jealousy, and a lust for power. Pop-eye was touched that Wall-E would offer his own eye to replace his own broken eye. Why I think they died off is that while Wall-E was generally happy and always looked forwards to a bright future, the others didn’t. They instead experienced grief, searched for belonging in a world that would never return to the way they were supposed to help return, and they ultimately became depressed and stopped caring about the world and themselves. This explains why they all just died off one day, once the first one left, they all decided that is was their time to go too. Wall-Y was separated from the others that day and while he cared about Wall-E’s safe return home, seeing as no one else returned he knew then that the others finally died. Perhaps Wall-Y has a buddy who shut down or maybe he was afraid that Wall-E would not wake up either. So he somberly shuts down in his sleep to join the others.

YUSSSSSS someone finally acknowledged these comics! The comics highlight a lot of things that eventually changed Wall-E for the better. It’s implied that unlike his brothers, Wall-E barley ever did his job due to his personality developments, and as a result, when all his brothers worked themselves to death, he was the only one left. What’s even sadder is that at first, he didn’t understand why his brothers all stopped working… before he eventually realizes that he had no choice but to continue the job they were meant to do… alone. As time went on, the poor guy was forced to HARVEST parts from his own brothers to keep himself maintained… that alone is pretty traumatic to think about. (What’s extra sad is that in out there, Wall-E did have a few brothers that did think a lot like he did… but it’s sad to think that they too passed on over time…)

I mean, I ofc have no want for Disney to taint this franchise in anyway, but as a person who will die on the hill that WALL•E is one of the greatest films ever made, I must say, a re-release of or a tv show based on these comics would be legitimately one of the coolest things Disney and Pixar could ever do for this universe.

Wall-E didnt watch the other Wall-E units die, the other wall-e units were deactivated by BnL remotely when the company gave up trying to save earth. Pixar stated in interview that the premise of the movie was "what if someone forgot to turn off the last robot?". You can see in the movie that all the robots are stopped in the middle of whatever task they were doing at that time, while working as a team in the same general area. What makes the wall-e character special is that he never received the shutdown broadcast.

You're very welcome! What's more fun is reading the comments and seeing people come up with their own additions to the WALL-E lore. Even though I don't trust Disney nowadays to faithfully make new stories in the world of WALL-E, that universe has so much untapped potential for mature and thought provoking stories. Part of the reason the original film did so well is because the environmental messages struck a cord with people, showing that kids movies can be more than just mindless entertainment.

Perhaps Wall-Y realized that Wall-U shut down and gave up not knowing if Wall-E would wake up or really caring about him either. So he somberly shuts down in his sleep to join the others.
@mcdowell5988

I really love this interpretation. I see a lot of comments saying how it doesn't make sense that the other WALL-Es had personalities and therefor makes our Wall-E a lot less special, but I don't think that's the case. In the original film some of the Axiom robots like Mo, and especially Eve, all had their own quirks and personalities prior to meeting Wall-E and no one seemed to care about that then. Why is it such a bad thing that the other WALL-Es had personalities too? And seeing how chipper and naive the other WALL-Es are in Out There, just imagine their shock, confusion and heartbreak seeing all their friends suddenly shut down or "give up." It's like children seeing their parents and friends pass away at a young age. How do you cope with that? I think them having personalities adds another level of tragedy not just to our Wall-E, but the other WALL-Es as well. I'm glad you shared this observation and I hope more people see this ❤️

Thank you dude! I agree, it is a pretty damn good prequel. Not perfect, but definitely one of the best. My favorite moments from this series are the really quiet, somber moments where Wall-E (and even Andy) are struggling to cope with the reality that they are the last beings on an Earth long since abandoned, and I think that adds to the central conflict of the WALL-E movie. I really appreciate the direction the comic series did by expanding on that empty, almost hopeless feeling of loneliness but ultimately finding peace and purpose in that desolation. I do think the comic series could've been improved as you suggested, and if it were up to me I would've started by replacing the lipstick Andy gave to Wall-E at the end with the "Hello Dolly" movie used as Wall-E's prized position in the movie, being a catalyst of Andy's love for his family and instilling that love onto Wall-E, setting up his deep want in the beginning of the WALL-E movie. It would've added so much weight to that "Dolly" movie and made Wall-E and Andy's relationship that much more special to me, but I had to work with what I had so oh well. Like you said, maybe in a Disney+ adaptation or something lol

There is something ironic about the fact that the WALL-Es went through their own apocalypse or extinction. It was as if they had taken over the fate of humans if they had stayed on the planet. WALL-E itself resembles something of a primitive man engaged in energy extraction and performing rituals, along the way, using his curiosity and observation, he learns the nature of the world around him, for example, the nature of fire, initially he knew only about the incinerator as a phenomenon of fire and smoke, then he saw the smoldering coal and realized that the fire could go out Then he discovered light bulbs, external electricity, and even realized that the stars are also fiery. It looks extremely entertaining that a robot explores the world like the first humans.

@mcdowell5988 well, thank you, even though Andy (from Toy Story left WALL-E behind- I mean yeah he has to, because of canon- pixar admits the fact that every movie is connected, and I saw someone do a deep dive into Pixar films, once, but that was years ago..) anyhow, even though Andy leaves WALL-E.. he could of taken him!! He was a human, we need space to move...especially in space.. so he had room, and WALL-E didn't weigh that much... sorry, I never wanted to hate Andy,but he has a habit of leaving those who love him, behind.. And, the only thing I hate about WALL-E, is that I always end up crying.. and yet again, here I am all misty eyed... Damnit WALL-E!! BUT, at least it's the good kind of crying - the healthy kind.. Sorry about the rant,but when you said the man's name was Andy, I subtlety knee that poor WALL-E would end up heartbroken in the end- or at least we as the reader would be in the end... And I always hate that WALL-E wasn't as loved by the public, as it really should of been.. and why?? Terminator movies, and the fear us humans have of something familiar, but not- alien, but same.. its one of humankind's worst traits- fear of the unknown, and how easily we will kill something unknown, instead of learning, accepting, anything other than destroying what they don't know.. Sorry, I'm ranting because humankind could be sooo much more, and what do we do? Yeah, nuff said.. Anyways, sorry for ranting- it's very cathartic to rant sometimes, definately 👍... 😊😁😇

Personally, I think the first three issues by Torres were the best in the comic run. Feels right in the tone of the start of the movie before the Axiom. The later "out there" half by Carlson to me honestly feels kind of fan-fictioney in a bad way. Bull-E's eyes look too much like real eyes (unlike the camera-looking eyes from the Wall-E's). Know this is kind of nitpicky but it kind of messes with how the rest of the Wall-E's are all grounded/appear realistic, while Bull-E's design just stands out as being out of place with realistic eyes and a traffic cone-esk head. I also don't like the idea of Wall-E meeting a human (Andy) before the Axiom and all too. Not a critic on the video though, this video is generally amazing for revealing this piece of semi-lost media. Wall-E finding out his fellow Wall-E's have passed on was just sad but I also loved it. Just personally wasn't a fan of the latter half of the comic. Edit: meant first 4 issues, just got confused by the timestamps and didn't realize the first issue was 0

When Wall-E starts charging himself, I think he's trying to show "C" how to recharge, not necessarily that he thinking charging himself will fix the other robot. One thing that really bugged me about this video though: Wall-E isn’t calling the other robots “C” or “K” or whatnot, he’s saying “See,” “okay,” and other words. That’s why he “recharges himself,” he is trying to show the Wall-E how to recharge.

First of all, thank you SO much for showing me these comics; I loved Wall-e back when I was too young to even understand the movie. The first 4 issues were amazing, giving us some simple, yet satisfying and creative flashbacks that give the scene where Wall-e shows off his treasure hoard to Eve in the movie even more meaning; it’s honestly just so nice to know these comics exist and do a very good job at giving us a glimpse into Wall-e’s past. Also, did I say the first 4 comics? Well I meant it, because f*ck issues 4-7. I can’t be the only one who heavily dislikes issues 4-7; they added nothing to the overall story and even cheaped us out with that fake and utterly pointless twist at the beginning of Issue 7. Also, I do NOT like Bull-e’s design; their narrative role is interesting enough and I actually like the creativity of their name, but they look so silly compared to the other Wall-e’s! Those goofy angry eyes and the simplicity of its arms make it feel like a cartoon character that doesn’t fit in. *In a Pixar IP.* Don’t get me wrong, 4-7 have some redeeming qualities; the idea that Wall-e got to interact with a human before the movie takes place was an interesting idea, and we even got to see what Wall-e’s friends were like before they mysteriously shut down. (Side note: I think Andy snapping at Wall-e for going through his stuff was very uncharacteristic of his gentle attitude, especially because it was over something as unproblematic as *looking* at stuff). Personally though, it think it would’ve been better if Wall-e didn’t interact with any humans prior to the movie, making his lack of surprise at their appearance feel more as a result of his determination to get to Eve, and his kindness feeling stronger when he helps out Josh without any fear. But that’s more of a nitpick, it works either way in that regard. 4-7 still suck though. Also, the video was good too ig. (Seriously though, you did a great job editing it, pretty much every decision you made was perfect).

Loved Wall-E so much in 2008 that I had stationary at school. The video game was a sorta-prequel with its intro, but learning about a dystopian Earth is always fun.
