On September 11, 2001, Pasquale Buzzelli had just arrived at work in the North Tower of the World Trade Center when a plane struck the building. At the time, he was completely unaware that he would be a rare survivor in the largest terrorist attack in American History. After miraculously making it out alive, he became known as the elusive “9/11 Surfer” for allegedly surfing the rubble to safety as the building fell.
Watch as Joe meets with Buzzelli and his wife at their home for an emotional recollection of their 9/11 story. We get a play by play of that fateful day as it unfolded, the chaos that ensued, and how it affected their futures forever.
This is the fourth installment of Humans, a new talk series where Joe interviews some of the most unique people in the world to shed light on their one in a million experiences. Humans aims to show viewers people with unbelievable stories that only they could live through.

@@homie-da-clown7520 If you watched the video, Joe himself tells exactly that it was the 22th floor, because way up, when he was around 45th floor, the fireman said to him, there is an elevator at the 23th floor he could took. And when he reached the 23th floor he was thinking about it, but decided otherwise, and took the stairs.. but why have i to tell you, whats in the video ? Why you didnt watched the video, and just looked into some comments, to see who you could attack ? Shelbsalexis said it right - you have a big negativity in yourself - and this really isnt the place for it. Espescially this sensitive topic needs empathy. There is no need for psychopathy here.

What makes his tale interesting/ odd is she was on the 4th floor when it collapsed she said, but as Pasquale says she was behind him, but he says he was on the 22nd floor when it collapsed. So who knows what floor they were really on, but they survived that’s all that matters

@@conpop6924 She actually says that she was on the 13th floor. So what I take from that is she was most likely on the 23rd floor, which would put her one above Pasquale, and is just misremembering which is completely understandable, or he is mistaken and he was actually on the 12th floor and she was on 13.

I so appreciated this interview. It healed something in me as I listened. My brother Nick died on American Flight 11 when it slammed into the North tower on 9/11. Every 9/11 since that day, I have thought of Nick and prayed for the teenage son he left behind; and watched all the videos to never forget. But here we are, 22 years later and this interview touched and healed something deep inside--a grief that included the loss of my wife 3 years ago and my wife's sister last week. I need to move forward to honor their lives. When Pasquale said that living life as a survivor carries the responsibility to live life to the fullest, that was the point at which my heart understood the choices I need to make in the days ahead. Joe . . . thank you for your sensitive and insightful gift of your time and this interview. God does many miracles in many ways, isn't it great to be a part of that redemptive work? Pasquale Buzzelli's story should be made into a movie. The true story of one man who defied all odds & survived to tell the unimaginable truth that the world has never heard until today, he fell 22 stories & cheated death. This is a miracle story & I've never listened to a more riveting, gut wrenching, heart breaking story about love, loss, courage, strength & a will to live. I don't know how he survived a fall like that & in my opinion, God put his arms around Pasquale that day to protect & shield him from harm, from death. He was saved. I'm a Canadian & I love New York City. I visited in 2010 to pay my respects to the 2996 souls that lost their lives that day & I will never forget all the heroes. May they all be resting in peace. I worked for Comcast in their call center when this happened. It was a fairly slow day. Our phones had a light on it that would show a color for the call volume of the call queue - no light for no calls waiting, green for a light amount of calls, yellow for many calls, and red of extremely high call volume. We also had massive TV screens - like 80inch screens that was on the walls that displayed the most popular channels, so we would know if a channel was having problems. That day was a slow day. I would get a call every 2 minutes, so there was no light on the phone. Suddenly, the news showed the towers on one of the big screens. Co-workers stood up in shock - some walking like a zombie towards the screen, the cords of their headsets yanking the headset off their heads. A few people tripped on trash cans but did not look away from the screen. The call volume went from nothing to 40,000 calls in 3 minutes. People were calling to ask us if their channel got hijacked by a prankster. Other calls were people asking if what they saw was real. The hardest calls were those of people who seemed lost and just wanted to talk to someone. We had to shut the call center down when the first tower fell and have an automated message for people calling in. A handful of people working had family in the tower at the time. I took a call from a woman whose husband worked in the tower, who asked me if he was OK. Her account showed New Jersey. She said she tried calling the police, the firefighters, and the hospitals and could not get through, so she called to ask if we knew anything. She asked me a few times if he was OK, like she was in such shock that her mind reset every 30 seconds. That was hard. Hearing a female coworker wail in agony over her sister being in the tower that was hit while trying to comfort the woman on the phone. I asked if she had family she could talk to, or if she had family that she could meet up with as a suggestion, then it dawned on her to call her family. Asked her a few times if she needed me to stay on the phone with her, and she said she would be OK. Went from taking simple billing/service calls to an emergency trauma call center in a heartbeat. Just the panic from the people over the phone, and the people calling in who seemed absolutely lost and looking for guidance was absolutely heartbreaking.

@B Lynn This had me in tears. I'm European, and it was just after we ate lunch. I was in the kitchen listening to the radio and clearing up. The announcer said, "Um, it looks like a plane had hit one of the World Trade Centre buildings in New York." I thought small plane but could sense a change in the studio atmosphere. I ran into the sitting room and turned on the TV. What I saw was horrifying. As I watched, another plane hit the 2nd tower. I turned to my daughter and said, "I think WW3 is starting. The world cried for you all that day. I remember the day when we, as a country, held a 3 minutes silence. Cars, trains, and buses stopped. We all stood in silence. It was astonishing that even the birds stopped singing. There was absolute silence. The world stood as one. This man's experience is so good to hear. @@CarolineL_22all a person has to do is sincerely want to know the truth. Want to know if they’re right or wrong about God and then sit down, open their bibles, and read it for themselves. Every question every lost human being on this planet has ever asked about God and the things of God are answered in that book. And something about coming to Him dropping your arrogance believing you have it all figured out already and with a sincere heart, has Him help you to understand things not with your finite human mind but with your infinite spirit. But you gotta wanna really know. If you think you already do, He’s not gonna try to convince you. That’s not His job. Personal accountability is really big with Him. He gave us free will and it’s up to us how we use it. If you were dating someone would you want to have to tell them everything about you, and have them never ask you a genuine question about yourself but only wanna believe what they think they already know about you…even if what they believe about you is wrong? Does that make you feel like they care to get to know you when they never ask you anything? Are you gonna beg them to know you if it doesn’t appear that they really want to? People don’t want a God they want a genie who caters to their whims and works for them on their time and thru their reasoning. Without ever giving any concern to His at all. And if He isn’t catering to them, with their limited capacities to understand and no interest in trying to…then obviously He must not be real. Lol.
@kmsleyang8972
@kmsleyang8972 8 ай бұрын
@@CarolineL_22 and no I am saying that other people who don’t get the answers they want from God or don’t know anything about Him because they don’t try to get to know them for themselves and are mad cause He just doesn’t give them the answers without them “asking seeking and knocking” and having the door open to them, but only believe what they’ve been told by people who don’t love Him in error, are convinced He doesn’t exist because they want a genie and not a God. He absolutely exists and idk how you got anything different from what I typed after reading it several times. Essentially I was agreeing with your comments. How that got lost in translation is because I believe you read it thru a lens of defensiveness because you were already being attacked for our beliefs you thought I was attacking you too.🤷🏻‍♀️ and so even though you read it several times you read it from that perspective every time.

He’s come along way from surviving and enduring such an unfathomable and traumatic event. I hope he ends up healing the way he deserves too…and being able to cry freely, feel freely and fully. IFS, somatic, Johns Hopkins psilocybin therapy are things he deserves…I have lost brothers who I served in combat to post war ptsd and many of my brothers and sisters in arms also feel that they shouldn’t cry, also find it hard to feel fully. I thought it was and accident on the highway. My ex called his job because he was going to be late but no one answered so we kept going. By time we got to Maurice Ave the first building had fell, the other on fire. All traffic stopped moving on the highway. It was like a parking lot. Everyone were outside their vehicles. People were on top of their vehicles and leaning on the highway divider in tears. We then saw the other building with the antenna fall. It looked like a big mushroom moving in slow motion. I always think of her and all the others who survived that fateful day. She was the last one they pulled out alive, she is so brave and thankfully she called out to Jesus. Through all the years of watching 911 survivor stories, to help me cope with the ordeal, because I was just 12 when it happened but now that I'm older, I've learned that literally everyone who survived that day, called out to God/Jesua and they were saved. Even the indian/American guy when the second plane went partly through his office and demolished it, he was freaking out pinned in his office and right before he heard the other guy, he called out to Jesus to save him and the other guy heard him and he was able to free him from his messed up office. Y’all are so amazing and I thank you for sharing your story. I’ve heard their story before, but I’m not sure if it’s the timing or the quality of this interview, but this is just a masterpiece. This interview was so incredibly emotional and heartfelt. It truly deserves so many awards!

I fell down the KZfaq rabbit hole and ended up here. This has to be the most genuine, raw interview I have ever watched. To Joe - Don't ever lose that human touch and empathy you have for others. You are blessed. To Pasquale - It's OK not to be OK all the time. Life could never have been the same after what you lived through. Just keep counting your blessings.

I had just got off work from a 12 hour night shift and gotten to sleep because I had to work again at 7pm. My children were at school. My mother started calling at 9:45am, and I was sleeping hard. It took about 3 calls to wake me up. I went to pick up my children and when my children and I got home, my boss called. Work was closed. Work never closes. I was so worried for all the people, and their families, and I've never prayed so hard in my life.

@@roxannemoser wow! Insane how we can remember exactly where we were and what was going on. It’s like the world stopped all at once. I was actually a junior in highschool at the time, they were showing this live in the classroom while it happened! It seemed so unreal but real at the same time, hard to explain. But like I said if you were there you know. 🙏🏾 prayers for all the families who lost a loved one to this tragedy. Thanks for sharing.

@@NovACain3 its crazy when you spoke to grandparents and parents about moments in history that they could recall with such precision...9-11 left all of us with that same lifelong memory and sadness that we'll never forget. What a heart wrenching story. Feelings of that day will never fade

@@NovACain3 same. I’m a few years older than you, Had just turned 15, but I remember being in science class and the school announcing it. It’s insane to me now.. with how much the world and America has changed, that they had us watch the news all day, including the jumpers. So horrible. That day has effected my entire adulthood.
