Right after watching this amazing video by this extremely cool and calm doctor, I became a vegan in Feb 2018. A year ago my doctor told me, no matter how much I change my diet, I still have to take the cholesterol medication for the "rest of my life"! I just got my blood work few days ago. I don't have to take the medication any longer. I have lost 38 pounds in just a few months. I feel great!

I rented a room from a 40 year old woman, mother of 3 for 2 years. She ate nothing but fresh fruits and veggies for years. At the time I thought she was too hardcore with it, but now I understand. She was slim, never wearing makeup, with the most beautiful young and fresh looking skin, walking up every day at 4am, studying, working full time and raising 3 kids...

This was my mother. Three kids single mom had my two sisters mid thirties. We were all raised on a plant based Whole Foods diet. I am thirty years old, sisters are 28 and 32. We all still eat this way. Although we are still young and in perfect health, my mother is 64 and she is on zero medications and does not go to a doctor because she is never sick.

A friend of mine was obese, diabetic and spending $500/month on diabetes medications. I helped him go Whole Food Plant Based, no added oil. He watched all the pertinent movies and read the books of Barnard, Esselstye, Campbell, etc. He lost 65 lbs, is normal weight (first time in 50 years!!), takes almost no diabetes med ($30/month). He is thrilled and is going on his 10th year of WFPB eating. He said he will never go back. But we are BOTH disturbed that his physician did not know about how to help my friend with diet. He only knew how to prescribe more and more drugs. The Medical schools are controlled by the pharmaceutical companies to the detriment of the public's good health.

My Grandfather is 93 and at 70 had quadruple bypass surgery. He completely changed the way he was eating, and began a plant based diet. I know 100% it has bought him a lot more LIFE because of it. At 93 he tells me if he knew about this in his 20's he says he'd have lived to be 200 years old. He has irreversible heart damage from years ago, but continues to live by this way of life!!! He says FOOD is Medicine. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

awesome! I had hoped to be able to get my dad to turn around, but it was not until he was on his death bed and the doctors did several significantly bad things to further injure him leading up to his death bed time and it was just too late, although, he was finally on board after decades of me trying to get him to focus on eating more fresh fruits and veges and stop at least some of the junk... so glad your grandfather found that path and continued to enjoy life for many more years after that surgery! My great grandfather ate close to what today's whole food vegans ate for most of his life... he lived independently with a good quality of life until he was about 98... then continued to live with assistance until he was about 103. He mighta lived longer had he had the same access to more organic raw foods that we have now. I don't think he was totally raw, but whatever he was doing, many people thought he was "crazy", and he outlived all those people by a long shot. In fact, he outlived all his immediate descendents, who did not follow his example, by a good 20 to 30 years and with a good quality of life.

My grandfather lived to 95 and smoked 2 packs of cigs everyday. He ate everything and was only sick in his last year. A doctor once told me “if you want good health, pick your parents.” Everything in moderation is the way to go.
@OfftoShambala
@OfftoShambala 5 жыл бұрын
@@geraldbrienza4474 Yes, there are people who don't observe "healthy" habits and tend to never have problems, and ultimately live long lives and were never prompted to make a change. They are the exception to the rule... but, the best chances are to eat a lot of fresh fruits and veges and moceration in all the other stuff... including alchohol, cigs and that kind of stuff... but, it is also likely that these exceptions that we are observing now, when they were young, were not given an onslaught of vaccinations like kids are today, for example... or were not so quickly given a slew of pharmaceutical products starting at young ages, as kids are today. And they may have also been able to avoid the various poisons that more and more people are exposed to... and they probably did not grow up on microwaveable pizza snacks etc. etc. so in addition to moderation, the foundational years of their lives may not have necessarily been absolutely ideal, but they were highly likely eating things that represent actual food, as compared to what people eat this year... of course, I don't know about your grandpa, but based on his age now... I would bet he had a somewhat healthy childhood perhaps.

Life changing...I am 69, female. I have lost 45 pounds since Christmas 2016. Went from a size 18 to 12. My primary reason for getting on this bandwagon was ethical....I can no longer be a part of the horrific treatment of animals. The fabulous results of my weight loss and the reduction of numbers (cholesterol, triglycerides, etc) is a bonus. I was going to say the icing on the cake.........!!!!! And it has been easy. Every time I want an egg or a hamburger I just think of the pain, suffering and fear of the animal that was slaughtered so I could eat something that might eventually kill me.

After years of having issues with my blood glucose levels, weight, heartburn and lack of energy and headaches, I had a doctor recommend plants over animals in my diet. I did a lot of research for a couple weeks and searched for recipes that would suit my tastes and style of cooking (not an easy feat with 3 generations in the same household). My original plan had been to start out vegetarian and work my way toward vegan. Within days of starting off vegetarian, I read the book "The Vital Blend" by Anthony Vita and realized I needed to completely cut the dairy and even the fish that I loved so much. And so the WFPB lifestyle was begun in my household. Within 2 weeks of going WFPB, I had lost 6 lbs, had no headaches, had leveled my blood glucose in the 100-115 range, was no longer suffering through heartburn every time I ate and drank water and was feeling more and more energetic. On the third week, I was on a trip with my family and we were eating at a restaurant that did not have WFPB options and they had Ahi Tuna steak (my favorite!!!). I ordered it and immediately after eating, realized that there could be no "cheating" for me: I felt awful with almost a hangover effect happening. I wanted nothing more than to lay down and sleep it off. I had learned that reintroducing unhealthy things, even occasionally, into my cleaned up digestive system was not a good plan. I'm now only 10 weeks into going WFPB and have lost 17lbs. I no longer crave the things I used to love, like ice cream, cheese, milk and fish. I am finding that the longer I live the WFPB lifestyle, I crave fruits and veggies. I love not feeling horrible when I wake up in the morning and wanting to sleep after meals. I love being able to work all day long without those energy slumps an hour before lunch or dinner. I love how much better I sleep at night. The one thing you will find happening that -COULD- be considered a negative, depending on how you look at it: You will NEED to drink a lot more water. Your body will not retain moisture the way it does when you're eating meats and dairy and processed stuff. So plan to start your day, your meals and all activities with a glass of water and drink lots through the day. If your skin is feeling dry, drink more water! And don't forget your B-12, which is not naturally found in plants. I add a scoop of greens powder that has B-12 in it to my smoothies every morning. Hope this helps someone out there considering WFPB eating. Just try it for a couple weeks. It can't hurt you and it's worth a try for your health!

Interesting what you say about water, my guess is it's because you've dramatically cut sodium. Hope you are doing well. I am no where near going vegan or anything but reducing animal products to some extent. Watching a few videos like this the evidence is highly compelling. The other diets like carnivore or even keto only have evidence of not being as bad as the SAD diet so people go on them and feel better than they did previously, it's unfortunate. Even Dr Lim went through that with his Paleo diet.

Now, my LDL is 65, which is ideal, no heart attack risk essentially, waist size is 33", weight is 150 lb. Furthermore, I am off blood pressure medication, my blood pressure is normal, and my tachycardia (resting heart rate over 100 beats per minute) is gone: it's 75 or less now. I feel fleet footed. I feel more clearheaded since I think I'm eating way better and more nutrients. God Bless Alan Goldhammer, Dr. Anthony Lim, and Dr. John Mcdougall. I've been on the program for 29 months. I've been lucky not to get knocked off the program except an accident where I drank a couple two liters of soda several years ago, and once I ate some crackers with less than 2% oil. That's it. I am off both diet and regular soda for many years so it's not a temptation. Eating whole plant foods completely satisfies me now, without exception.

I would suggest starting with whole food plant based eating first...Introduce it slowly. WLS requires you to not eat rice, bread, potatoes. It requires you to eat lots of meat, meat meat, stock up on protein. It promotes that you eat proteins first and veggies second. Once you have weight loss surgery, you are not to drink carbonated drinks, starches ie; potatoes, rice, and bread. Not to drink alcohol. And no asprin, nsaid's.

I wished i had seen this presentation before i had my gallbladder removed (02/2018). however, i know now that i must do a change, and urging my adult children to do so. One the the things that stood out (to me) is when he said that at the end of the presentation he did not have a product to sell! thank God for people who really cares. This was very informative.

I lost 70 pounds on a whole food plant based diet, but I did need to engage in some calorie restriction. I ate enough to be satisfied, but no more. I lost about one half a pound per week. As I lost weight I found I actually got hungrier and needed to allow myself some additional calories. (Perhaps I was living off my stored fat, and as I lost weight I had less of this to supplement my diet). I now weigh what I did when I graduated from high school and am thin.

Melissa O That is just stupid. That is like saying don't be an American because Americans eat a lot of junk food. The diet presented in the video, if you would have watched it, does not include junk food. I've been vegan for four years now and do not eat junk food. The longest lived group on the planet are the vegan Seventh Day Adventists. If we only do as well as they do we will all do very well indeed.

I am starting my plant based way of eating on Monday January 8th. I am so excited! I am morbidly obese and have been trying to find a way to eat that makes sense to me, and will help me with all my medical conditions. I am a type II diabetic, have diabetic neuropathy in my feet, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, osteoarthritis in both knees, and arthritis in both hips. I will be 47 next month and fear, if I don't change things, that the end is near. I am going to be fasting from Friday 1/5 to Sunday 1/7. This is to help me with the switch. I at present have been trying to eat better, but really like fast food. The worst of the worst processed food. (By the way, this was not a New Years resolution. It is a coincidence that I came to this realization at the end of 2017. lol) I have spent a lifetime doing the wrong thing to my body. I just do not want to leave this world as a glutton. I do have one question. Do you as a doctor think it is a good idea to fast and then start my plant based eating? I feel it is, but have had others say it isn't. I just want to start my new life on an empty slate. Thank you for your time, Caryn

Hope the change was easy for you. I have changed relatively quickly, but would grab a turkey sandwich a couple times along the road. Then learned to satisfy meat craving with legumes and tofu. I had been an avid marathon runner for years but had burned out and stopped about 3 years earlier. In that time gaining 65 pounds tipping the scale at 238lbs my blood pressure was averaging 165/90. My Dr had been trying to get me on meds for over a year my dentist even refused to work on me one visit because of high bp. Then after having chest pains wile on my morning walks and a few days later chest pains at night I knew I had do something. So I started with a week long water fast. Watching fasting videos to keep me motivated I stumbled upon a video of Dr McDougall talking about the starch solution. It’s like the light on inside my head the way he explained it was so easy to understand. My wife and I both started the whole food plant based diet after my fast it’s been fantastic. After just three weeks my blood pressure went down from 165/90 to 117/68 my wife was on two different bp meds her Dr took her off one med. We have been HFPB for a little over 6 months now my wife has lost around 20+ lbs and me 38 we both feel great full of energy the food is great it’s an amazing easy and cheep way to eat. I have no doubt we will be eating this way the rest of our lifetime.

What an awesome presentation! I follow a whole-food, plant-based diet but I've been in a rut lately in that I eat the same things every week (blueberries everyday for instance instead of more of a variety of fruits). It blows my mind when people find out that I don't eat animal products or processed food and they ask me what I eat and I say, "Everything else!" More than one doctor has asked me this. I'm also introducing whole grains into my diet because I was one of those people who was afraid of carbs for a long time. It's crazy that society jumps from one fad diet to the next trying to figure out what's healthy when the answer is so obvious: real food.
