I have a Farmall Cub from 1949. My husband tore it all apart so that it didn’t even look like a tractor any more, just a bunch of pieces and parts. I painted it bright red like your engine. It runs awesome now. My husband is an aerospace machinist, so a Farmall Cub was no big deal for him. He has done tons of John Deere tractors in the past, so he knows tractors and he loves tractors. He bought a 1969 Masey Ferguson bulldozer from a field, restored it and we use it every weekend. It’s great!

Very interesting! Thanks for sharing. I grew up on a farm in Iowa, but we never used a tedder. My dad's belief was that stirring the hay around an extra time would knock off many leaves, which would reduce the Total Digestive Nutrients (TDN). That was just his opinion - he may have been wrong. I can see how using a tedder would reduce the drying time. Interesting to see a tedder in action for the first time. Likewise, I was never around an MD. I have driven several regular gas M's, but I was never around an MD, so it was really cool to see it in action. Will be really sweet once it is completely restored, although it seems to work pretty good just the way it is. Thanks again, Rick Shafer

We had a wide front end on our MD and the thing I remember most is what a Bear it was to steer. Steering by Armstrong for sure! We used it for many years as a stationary water pump setup. At $0.35 per gallon back then it didn't cost much to drive the pump for 8-10 hours each day. My dad was a diesel mechanic before we moved to the farm and I remember him asking me to "Please don't ever let this run out of diesel". They must be hard to prime.... because he rarely ever said "Please".

I knew a farmer one time who had a couple of old Gleaner combines he was constantly working on. I ask him why he didn’t buy a couple of new ones. He said “I run’em about one week a year out of 52. I don’t have a couple hundred grand for new ones. I’m just fine tinkerin on’em”. I was young and stupid. That old man taught me a serious life lesson and it took me 20 years to figure it out. Thanks Gene.

I love watching your videos. When I was young in the 1950's I used to go and spend a week on my Uncles Farm in Central Ohio. One thing I learned there was I do not want a dairy farm. He was a electrical Plant Engineer and also had a 160 acre farm. When ever he came for visit to us he always checked his watch. OH, OH I have to leave so I can milk the cows. You need to write a book on running a small family farm and make a living. I hear so many small farmers going broke and having to sell their farms to Big Cooperate Farms.

A 67 year old tractor still doing a a full day's work on the farm. 67 years from now I doubt any 2021 tractors will still be around. These half-million dollar tractors of today will probably only run as long as the manufacturer decides to support the software. My 1962 Ford Workmaster tilled for 20 hours this weekend. Runs like a dream.
