First in the anaemia series, considering the causes of anaemia with a focus of the causes of anaemias caused by reduced red blood cell production.

The first thing I did today is watch this video. I was diagnosed anemia in 2010 and quit my job afterwards. One year later after taking iron pills and feeding myself with nutritious food, I got better.

I think a problem is writing off anemia as one cause when a woman might have heavy periods, be having a low iron and B12 vegetarian diet and a high stress situation with IBS reducing the uptake of nutrients. I don't think you can fully explore all of that in a ten minute appointment, so the GP goes with the easiest one to treat in 10 minutes, but may not have fully solved the problem.

Copper is required to keep iron in homeostasis. Low copper creates anemia -- low iron in the blood. How much iron is stuck in the tissues because copper is low? Good question! Dr. Bruce Ames, PhD did research in 2004 that showed 10x more iron can be stuck in the tissues than in the blood. Copper is required to put iron in heme, heme into hemoglobin, and hemoglobin into red blood cells. The life span of blood cells depends on its ceruloplasmin-bound copper binding status. Copper also fires cytochrome c oxidase, which splits all the oxygen you breath when functioning correctly. Copper alao fires all oxidase enzymes. All this and you may not find copper listed on one "nutrition label" in a major grocery store. The Royals know, though. They refer to themselves as "Blue Bloods" in honor of their bio-copper status. Here is some key information to get you started... This video discusses how low hemoglobin is actually caused by low copper in almost all cases. 96% of iron used in blood cells is supposed to be recycled. Copper manages that recycling process. The processed food system is a tsunami of rusty metallic iron filings. Pregnant women are loaded with metallic iron as well, when hemodilution research shows the healthiest babies are born to anemic women! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbpkna-Izpe3kYE.html

So is it the case that B12 can be plentiful in your blood but is not indicative of what's being absorbed, which can mean that a blood test for B12 is not necessarily accurate?

Thank you Dr. Campbell for another excellent video, liking, sharing..! I have question toward bottom. My Feb 2023 bloodwork labs show flags for slightly low CBC values of below, slight anemia: WBC 3.9 RBC 4.08 Hemoglobin 12.8 Hematocrit 39.2 MCV High Normal 96.1 All other values normal. Watching this and another video of yours, I'm thinking rather than iron deficiency it could be slight B12, Folate deficiency. I do eat a moderate amount of meat, eggs, dairy, with goal of eating more of these. Otherwise, excellent real whole food eat the rainbow diet for decades. I'm 65, male, super healthy, great skin color, excellent energy, very active, exercise regularly, BMI = 24, no meds, no medical conditions. I work in Sprouts Farmers Market Vitamins Department last 10 years and have access to B12 Methylcobalamin, Methyl Folate, B6 combination supplements I could take. Is there any way to tell if my slight anemia is iron deficiency, or B Vitamins deficiency, production deficiency (i.e. determine specific anemia type)..? If I start eating more meat, both iron deficiency and B vitamin deficiencies most likely would be resolved... But it would be nice to pinpoint what's really going on with my scenario. My doctor blood labs comments that just slight deficiency, we'll monitor moving forward. Sorry for long comment, but wanted to try and set the scene properly. Thank you..!

Well, pale coloured mucous membrane can be a feature of anaemia. Clearly if you are worried about anaemia you need to get the doctor to do a blood test. I agree, its a pity to have a weeks delay just to see a medic. Worth considering your diet, are you getting enough vitamin C?

Isn't it a lack of iron that causes this? I've noticed a lot of vegetarians are very pale and look 'anaemic' because they don't get enough iron that omnivores derive from red meat or is that just a simplistic way of looking at it seeing as 'haemoglobins' are intrinsically biochemically consisting of oxidised iron giving it its red colour?

Dr. Campbell, copper's role in maintaining iron homeostasis is prevalent throughout the research literature, but doesn't make it to the medical schools. The question that needs to be asked in all cases of anemia is: "how do you know that I'm not Anemic due to chronic disease caused by iron overload in my tissues as a result of a copper deficiency (ferroxidase, a copper multi-oxidase, to be precise)? The answer is they don't know. I heard a patient ask a doctor that exact question and the response was, "well, we have no evidence of that." Translation -- "we don't look, we don't get paid to do it, and we don't care." She received the iron infusion days ahead of Heart surgery. Her nose began to bleed like someone turned on a faucet. It would not stop of its own accord. Her nostril tissue was cautetized. Still bled. And bled. And bled. Her nose tissue was cauterized again, and the bleeding finally stopped, but the *root causr* of the bleeding was never officially identified. Since the body has no good way to get rid of significant absorbed iron, it has to bleed as a crisis level counter-measure to iron poisoning. I hypothesize that early menstruation in girls is caused due to iron overload in the tissues. Basically, iron homeostasis is dysregulated due to bio-copper deficiencies (ceruloplasmin-bound copper, ferroxidase, hephaestin, zyklopen, etc...). Every day tons of rusty metallic iron filings are added to the food supply that were never added before. NPK fertilizer dorsn't contains copper and blocks copper absorption. Glyohosate chelates copper so the body can't use it. High fructose corn syrup blocks copper absorption. Anything that stimulates metallothionein causes copper to bind with it leading to depletion. Think stress and zinc supplements. Ceruloplasmin, the multi-copper oxidase copper transport enzyme, translates to "blue blood." Crabs with copper in place of heme have blue blood. The Royals call themselves Blue Bloods. They know something they aren't telling "the rabble," kind of like what they did with vaccine "efficacy and safety." I call Covid-19 by the name CovFeFe because it is a more precise name. Whatever the New Crown Virus is, it is causing ferritin to acutely dump its stored iron, which is now reactive, into the cells before being ejected into the serum. Just try to find a confirmed CovFeFe death where ferritin in the serum isn't sky high. That serum ferritin really represents reactive iron dumped inside the cells in short order, which is exactly the sort of thing that results in cytokine storms. Search "covid iron-overload" in the scientific literature.
