My old aunt 98 yrs old told me not to get a black wife. The thing is that older generation everywhere is not exposed to definitions of racism. Iranians especially the younger generation are tolerant and welcoming. I also noticed as opposed to asian culture who like to have white skin by holding umbrella, Young Iranians often tan themselves a lot to look more fashionable.

It is nice to see a black man with a iranian woman and also happy to know that your family accepts him. I was in a relationship with a iranian man and I really care about him. We recently broke up about a week ago because I found out he is secretly talking to a woman from iran. He claims his family doesn't accept me because of my brown skin. He told me that iranians are the most racist people. I am so heart broken, I can't even sleep, I am Doctor by profession and I so embarrassed that I lower my standard for someone who doesn't have anything and after all of 2 years and after all I have done for him. He never wanted to be with me simple because my skin is not white
@Anaieta
@Anaieta Жыл бұрын
There are many racist Iranians indeed but I believe if he was open minded enough to see more than what his community is seeing he wouldn’t have treated you that way. No one ever should make you feel like the color of your skin is a matter, and to be honest, I believe you deserve someone who sees the beauty of you and treats you how you should. I’m sad to call him Iranian :(

This is a very interesting video. I lived in Iran for 7 months from late 2021 to early 2022, and honestly, I never experienced racism in Iran at all. Maybe some people had ideas or stereotypes about me as a black person, but everyone I met was awesome and cool, and I had no problems. I heard some some Iranian friends that there is some discrimination or racism towards Afghans and Arabs but I never understood how that may manifest itself. I can say after my time spent in Iran that Iranians are the most tolerant and kind people I have ever met. More so than any other culture in the Middle East or Asia, especially Indian, Chinese, or Arab for example. It's just my opinion.

You are so real and asked very specific and direct questions. I am glad he enjoyed his trip. About the food and saying it was good to your mom i think the majority of people would answer the same way. Very interesting about sugar in food. I too am African and never saw anyone cook with sugar. I visited China and had enjoyed some sweet and sour chicken there as well as here in the US. I had two Chinese roomates in college in our rented house and 2 Saudi Arabians and an Indian guy and it really opened me to new stuff. One day, my friend who is now a doctor in Shanghai was cooking for everyone and I was watching him cook and helping with cutting stuff. He asked me for sugar and my jaw dropped and asked him for what. That is when he told me about half of China likes sweet food and uses sugar and the other half uses salt. I could not believe it but the food tasted awesome once i got past my own insecurities. Sometimes it is just in our heads but off course I still would not cook with sugar. That is the beauty of travelling and interacting with locals you learn a lot.
@Anaieta

I lived in Iran (Teheran, then Dezful) for four years (1976 to 1980). The ONLY racists I ever met there, were the some of the Americans with whom I worked. I lived in Iranian neighborhoods (like "21 Metri J", near what was called Medan-e-Shahyad) for the most part; the one exception being when I lived on "Khiaban-e Parvin" (across the street from what was called "Park-e-Shahanshahi" and around the corner from "Chatanooga" disco. The other exception being during my time living on what was called "Andimeshk Air Force Base" in Dezful. I've lived in and travelled to other countries and thoroughly enjoyed my visits. But the Iranian people, in my humble opinion, are the kindest, most hospitable, funniest and giving people I have ever met in the world. They are also among the most talented and intelligent people I've met. Iran is forever in my heart.

Most Caribbeans cook yam, plantain either ripe or or green with sugar. I remember some years back my Caribbean friend wanted to marry my brother and she thought she was cooking to impressed her future mother in law in London. That was end of the relationship🤣. Both my mum and bro just couldn't fathom having this beautiful girl in the family. Unfortunately, the girl was disrespectful to the Afrikan / Ghanaian way of cooking without sugar.😂 cultural crash big time.

It becomes fun when there are in a relationship/ marriage 💑. the respect is soo deeper when they are with their wife Sometimes most women mistaken think the Ghanaians men is not romantic does not the truth their loved for the wife or serious girlfriend is deeper in love and respect for women. They watch everything about they woman and comes in at the right time when the wife or is women is comfortable or happy to be engaged in anything especially conversations because our mother us women do multi task even in quite moments they pray to God or Allah for blessing for her in their home so you don't disturb here with unnecessary touch and hands all over her like other cultures do. I wish you all the best. My co-worker always wanted to pay for me. I thought that she didn't want me to pay for her as I am black. I loved her but was sometimes afraid of hypocrisy because I experienced betrayal from white friends. I was still recovering from c-PTSD but I nie understand that her behaviour was cultural and not biased. Nice Video.

Portugal used to have naval bases in southern Iran, and they brought African slaves with them. After the Portuguese left, some of the slaves stayed behind and made a life for themselves in southern Iran, particularly in areas along the coast of the Persian Gulf. They _ARE_ part of the Iranian culture (their African heritage both influencing and being influenced by Iranian culture, especially along the southern coasts of Iran where they settled) and are part of the Iranian people. Today it's extremely rare to run into racism based on skin color in Iran, mainly because the Iranian people consist of extremely white skinned (to the north and north western Iran) to dark and even black skinned (southern Iran). It's a lot more likely to run into cultural racism, mostly racism towards those considered Arabs (due to the millennia-long feuds between Iranians and Arabs). What makes it even more interesting is that there is a sizable population of ethnically Arab people living in south western Iran, but they are also considered Iranians (and not Arabs). Arabs living west and south of the Iranian border are considered Arabs, and those living inside Iranian borders (though ethnically Arab) are considered Iranians. *_It's confusing, I know_* . More of a geopolitical thing than a racist thing to be honest. Pretty much the worst thing you can say to an Iranian as a foreigner is to call them an Arab. It's the equivalent of the n-word.

I agree and disagree. There’s tribalism and classism in Iran, yes! But I believe there’s a targeted racism like many other middle easter countries against black people. And the history of the people in the south is darker than what we believe from our history books. We have a long way to go still. But conversations around this topic has to happen in order for change to occur.

How did Afro Iranians influence Iranian culture if they aren’t even a significant number? Most Iranians have never seen a black person in their life. My parents also didn’t see blacks until they came to Europe. They might had an influence on the areas they live in, but not on the entire country. So claiming that Afro Iranians had an influence on Iran just like black Americans had an influence on American society is completely wrong since Afro Iranians aren’t even 1% of the population. They’re much less than 1%. My comment is by the way not racist. Again, I said that it doesn’t make sense because their number is not significant. They’re only 30,000-50,000 people

@bhka6423 Many of the Afro-Irananians were the indigenous people who were exterminated. The history of the so called Middle East has been whitewashed because of hatred for Black people. It's a pity that the belief in white supremacy has tainted true history.
