Film description: Ten years after the 'Phantom Menace' threatened the planet Naboo, Padme Amidala is now a Senator representing her homeworld. attack of clones was a type of movie where you can both believe and not believe that Anakin will become Vader. It is kind of hard imagine Darth Vader once being so happy and finding love. And yet Anakin's rebelliousness and refusal to obey ObiWan and eliminating all the Tuskens in anger makes us see Vader without the armor.

The animators hated animating them because it was so hard. That's why in the CG Blooper reel at the end of State of the Art: The Previsualization of Episode II, they made a couple of stuff where the Shaaks are killed and/or tortured, like there's one shot at a Kamino shooting gallery, Yoda kills one with Force Lightning and one falling from the sky in front of the Clone Trooper Blaster Cannons, crashing on its back.

Watch this as a kid in 2002 in the cinemas.. I love their chemistry and still now...especially the wedding part..i remember peoples reaction inside the cinema in 2002 especially we kids..we were happy for them I mean anakin lost his mother and arm but at least he got the love of his life..I remember the audience saying at the wedding part "oh they got married" it was magical and poignant moment for me at the end of AOTC...Honestly OT Fans should accept and respect the fact that they are many of us kids then but adults now who enjoyed and still love the prequels..instead of ALWAYS CLAIMING that the Prequels were universally hated.

In the novelization there’s other things in this scene where Anakin starts juggling some of the snacks and remarks that Padmé takes things too seriously. Of course, like most things that could have helped elevate the film more, it was never shot.

This is the best romance scene in the movie, hands down. Little dialogue and great character interactions. It's so sweet to see both Anakin and Padmé happy. Rather than Anakin sounding like a perv, making Padmé feel uncomfortable.

Very good romance. They should have more scenes showing how they get along, but Padmé knows they can't be together. That's why she was always holding him off untill Geonosis, at great cost because she was "dying inside" to not let her feelings gain the upper hand against her duties. Nonetheless Natalie was so beautiful in AOTC.

The ending scene in the novelization was a bit different. Anakin was on top of Padmé. Then they got onto one of those creatures, Anakin was trying to ride. She put her arms around him and laid her head against, his back. Wish that had been in the film.

Whilst I agree the prequels will never match the originals….AOTC is still the greatest of the prequels for me…Anakin and Padme’s romance is one thing that makes it the best prequel !

I love their romance but I think the deleted scene add a lot of things to understand how she fell for him. In my opinion it began when they meet in Coruscant after 10 years. See her looking at him, she can't take her eyes of him. But she doesn't show much, she knows they can't be together. But changed her mind in Geonosis when they were about to die.

When I watched the series Obi-Wan Kenobi, I have a rather sad feeling when Obi told to Leia about her fathers and the line: "Sometimes when at look at Luma, I see her mother's face." to the clonetrooper. Of course he was referring Padmé.

When Anakin said "Well, if it works." refering to his idea that someone wise should make the disagreeing senators into agreeing what's good for the people and looks at Padmé, it suggests that SHE should be what she thinks a dictator (she stated that she doesn't support dictatorship but believe in democracy) but she frowned upon him for that. Is it because she doesn't like the idea of her being a sole ruler of the Republic like Palpatine/Sidious will become whitin three years?

Anakin's philosophy here is interesting in that we know he becomes Vader down the line, but I feel like this thought process should maybe have come up more as he fell? Like, Padme's life being the crux of his fall makes some sense, but it would be infinitely better if they really highlighted genuine political/philosophical reasons for Anakin to turn completely against the Jedi Order. Instead, he comes across as a petulent child who's not being given enough trust and power, and then ultimately his final reasoning is either being criminally obsessed with his wife or magically converted by the bad guy to just be a bastard.

I think the way the writing in the movie just fails at that, if you read the Star Wars novels, you’ll see Anakin struggled internally with this same mindset in this scene. He constantly forced himself to believe in the order and the republic because that’s what he’s been taught all his life, but as the story goes on and in other words as Anakin begins to “fall” you’ll see that his fears come into fruition and everything he’s ever known was a “lie” from his perspective. Anakin’s ideals were tested and that’s one of his main driving forces that led him down the darkside, it wasn’t *just* the fear of losing Padme and not gaining the rank of “master”, even if those were inevitably the last nails in the coffin for him.

@@Lunafroyo Sure, but I'm talking about the primary vehicle for the stories, which is the film series. The poor execution/writing of his fall had to be retroactively filled in with content like the novels and Clone Wars to make his character arc more smooth and believable.

@@wenzel32 I would think that he is wanting more direct control, because he has been a slave a lot of his life. Slave to Watto and felt controlled under the Jedi Order. Plus when he is told he can save his wife, and since he is mentioned being the Chosen One, the idea of being a Messiah could go to his head, because if he really could learn how to create life and save people from dying, like Palpatine claimed Plagueis could, then he feels like doing this is the best way to ensure true peace. And all it cost was a corrupt senate and Jedi Order that was outdated and had to be removed, in order to save the galaxy. I feel like that would be a motivator for him. He still has the same ideals, of wanting to rule along with his son Luke, after getting rid of Palpatine.
