Yes it sounds great I have a low gain Sunface but it's duking it out with the new Pedal Pawn CV7003 fuzz I'm a strange fuzz user...I kind of prefer the overdrive tones some fuzz's can provide and definitely like the clean roll off tones Seems fuzz can be a cruel Mistress lol My problem and more than likely many other's is that we need to sit down and woodshed a fuzz till we bond with it So many pedal choices are made in the first 5 minutes of using it Like it or don't like it For me anyways I need to really dig in and get down on a fuzz Actually have about 6 really nice ones I need to explore and make the decision so I can move on and get some serious money back for something else Likewise I have several Strats that I love but need to pick 2 or 3 and sell the rest Over 60 y/o now so need to consolidate Same with the Gibson's Decisions decisions lol 😂 Cheers ES

Hey Emerson, this is a great clip that I only found by googling "BART sunlion". Your video never came up in my YT searches before. I really enjoyed your playing and tones here; the amp is surprisingly clean to be working so well with fuzz. I think yours is my favourite sunface clip on YT. I am dillydallying about ordering a Sunlion and you might have just pushed me over the edge. Love those BARTs. Thank you for your post!
@emersonswinford89494 жыл бұрын
ribbons of euphoria thanks for the nice comment! Yeah I really like the BART too. I’ve had NKTs (but NOT from Analogman) but this pedal is my favorite Germanium thus far. Hangs w silicon fuzz faces gain wise but has that warmer clean up. I do like to run the amp just breaking up. From listening to early Hendrix studio bootlegs, I don’t think his JTM 100 was super distorted , just cooking and overdriven nicely 👍, and the fuzz pushes it into bliss. A lot of guys crank the volume on the pedal too, I think Jimi and others did that cuz those early pedals you had too...cranked was similar to about 1 o clock on more modern pedals like the sunface. Also some amps like a blackface fenders can use the extra volume push to send them over the edge into submission. My 2 cents from way too much time analyzing Jimi recordings. Good luck and have fun.

@@MherkavaI received it and this demo is 100% accurate. The BART is by far one of the best sounding germanium fuzzes I've ever owned or played. It has a bit more gain on tap than my vintage NKT275 fuzz but dialing the fuzz control back it sounds impressively close. I actually think the BART maybe a little bit better as it just sounds amazing no matter how I use it. It can achieve absolutely sparkling cleans with the fuzz control backed off a tad and rolling the volume back (Strat) and it can sound absolutely massive, warm and huge when diming the fuzz and the guitar volume. These big Russian transistor sound absolutely amazing imo. Long story short, this demo is absolutely on point with my experience.

@emersonswinford89493 жыл бұрын
Hi, so I personally prefer using an older style carbon zinc 9v battery. I honestly think they sound better. You can get the optional on/off fuzz pot which allows you to turn off and save on battery usage, but still have the jacks plugged in (like if it’s all mounted up snug in your pedalboard). You could go for the 9v jack power option but I’d email and ask about the polarity as I can’t remember.

Hello Emerson, I ordered one of these that should be shipping to me pretty soon. My amp is a Headstrong Lil King reverb (Princeton) I see that to get best results thru my clean amp I should run my fuzz thru an overdrive pedal to simulate an overdriven amp. I was thinking of getting a Jan Ray or an Origin Effects Revivaldrive compact? Can I get your opinion on this? Or maybe you would recommend something else. Thank you so much, and you are a freakin badass guitar player!!
@emersonswinford89492 жыл бұрын
Thanks! You may end up liking it straight in. I’d admit that my silverface Princeton is not my favorite amp for fuzz faces, but I get the best results by hitting it pretty hard…like crank volume more than I would with say a Marshall. I’ve heard good things about Jan Ray but have no experience. I haven’t had the best results w using a gain pedal after fuzz face but have seen others on YT get good tones. Wish I could help you more. Start w BART straight in and see. Let me know how it works out.

Hey man, I was messing with my silverface Princeton today and have a chase tone secret preamp. Running a fuzz face into the secret preamp really helped the fuzz sound good thru that amp. Hope this helps.

Yes if you do get something to go with it be sure you get something that has tone or EQ options Sometimes fuzz can get too bassy or vida versa so the added EQ helps Usually fuzz doesn't have a tone control I use a RYRA Klone after my Sunface You can keep the gain very low and it still sounds great Excellent tone control as well Good luck

@@JimmyDevere Hey Jimmy, I like that you say "right now, I prefer"...I know the feeling. Fuzz Face pedals are weird, one sounds perfect one day and the next it's suspect. I love the Club 40. It's tough call between it and the Classic 45. Often I prefer the C45 for Fuzz Faces but that could be the KT66 tubes versus EL34. I'd say since you have a Bassman you are already in that ballpark but the Club 40 covers late 60's and 70's tones and beyond with the right pedals. It takes pedals amazingly well.

@@emersonswinford8949 Volume is on the left... Fuzz on the right. With single coils it is customary to run the fuzz wide open, while volume can vary depending on your transistor gain and what the next pedal in the chain is expecting. I find that it is a trade-off between adding noise at high volume and killing the dynamics at low volume. When I use my SunFace with Germanium RCA (higher gain) transistors, I like to reduce the fuzz to about noon with humbuckers because they don't need a lot of gain to drive the fuzz, and I can still get the sound to clean up by turning down the guitar volume knob.

Emerson Swinford that’s interesting. I got a medium gain Bart Sunface and it doesn’t clean up well at all unless I roll the gain trimmer inside back. I got it used on reverb so Im wondering if they actually sold me a high gain. How far exactly do you roll off your guitar volume to get a clean tone?
@emersonswinford89494 жыл бұрын
Ben Skurbe I think the Barts clean up slower...different than most FF where you just roll back slightly and it’s clean. So to get totally clean I’m more like 3-4 on my strat, on other FF that would be like 8. I’m used to it now and actually like all the range. Also my medium gain Bart has a good amount of fuzz gain, I usually roll the fuzz down slightly. Also recently I’ve compared this to some vintage units and easily prefer it.
@emersonswinford89494 жыл бұрын
Ben Skurbe And I use pretty weak output vintage pickups. Like 5.7 k
@benskurbe4 жыл бұрын
Emerson Swinford yeah it definitely cleans slower. I was actually able to get some good cleanup settings at full on the gain trimmer, but I used different fuzz and volume positions. I was trying to use the settings you used but you’re using a Marshall style amp and I’m using a Vox, and your strat is cleaner as you said and same settings don’t really make sense for different gear so I probably shouldn’t have been trying to do that lol. With the adjustments I made I really like the slower cleanup. I was also able to get it clean around 3-4 on the guitar volume with my settings ( 3 o clock on fuzz and volume).
