In ShadowRun on the Genesis, hacking is considered a highlight. Also "There Is No Game" isn't technically hacking, but you're still breaking into someone's system, defeating their defenses, and going through their files. It's a pretty good metaphor for hacking that just skips all the technical parts in favor of magic and comedy.

I think the games get too bad of a rep at times. I genuinely enjoyed my time with Human Revolution. But at the same time, I didn't grow up and play the original (I've tried playing a couple years ago, but I'd need to set aside some time to get the hang of it, as it's clunky by modern day standards).

I've had the pleasure of playing both on original hardware back in the day. CA2 is definitely a better experience, but i am a much bigger fan of the sheer oppressive atmosphere you get in CA1. Those temple levels and the giant golem boss traumatized me as a kid.

I thought the hacking in Terminator Resistance was fun enough. Its basically horizontal Frogger with the program you are trying to get through the system's defenses in place of the frog and the firewalls as obstacles in the lanes.

Damn I remember my dad buying us the og PSP and Coded Arms around launch. We played the hell out of it. We were so excited for Contagion untill the hacking parts. Frustrated the fuck out of us so we just went back to first game 😂

If you think the textures in this psp game are good you should play Silent Hill Shattered Memories for the PSP. Literally every poster can be read and there's a ton of textures.

I never played the second one, but Coded Arms was the first PSP game I owned. It seems like the sequel removed a lot of what I enjoyed about the first one. To this day I still never fully completed it. I felt like there was a lot to discover and gave a new experience every time I started over.

I would completely agree that it removed what was really good about Coded Arms. I bought Contagion when it came out, and it did look good, but I sold it after I played through it. It seemed to loose the charm of the first one, and I didn't see the point of replaying it. On the other hand, I did get all of the plugins, and max upgrade everything in the first one, and I think I even got up to Infinity level 160 or something like that. I loved that game, and I still pull it back out every now and again to replay it.

Great review. Never thought to do southpaw controls on emulator I did the face buttons to the right stick. XD Owning Coded Arms 1 has been interesting to compare to playing Contagion on an emulator and the differences. If only we got Coded Arms Assault for PS3 though, sigh. Sure maybe was too FPS crowded by that point but still this series impressed me like many others have from the PS3/360 era and like Vanquish or Binary Domain would have been great to have anothet Japanese shooter.

Personally I find the statement of the enviroments being a lot more believable in the sequel because of how they function is kind of weird considering the entire game was inside of a digital training sim in the first, but that's more of a pet peeve than a criticism of your content lol

Wish that third game came out. I'm always into these lesser known B tier games that go hard on their concepts. Only had the first one back in the day, played it a decent amount just cus it was one of the only playable shooters outside of Syphon Filter. Looking at your videos I'm digging the style more now, kinda wanna play give em both a new playthrough. Like you said if the first one was a modern indie game on PC it'd have a nice little community behind it.

Would be nice but again Konami. They will likely cater to their bigger IPs and ignore Coded Arms. I prefer Coded Arms but can see why wouldn't bother. At least we got 2 games (sad no Assault for PS3) and emulation allows us to play them well.

Fuck anyone that complains about the hat. It's called personal style and as you said it's your choice and they need to be the adult. JFC I can't believe anyone would care so much about what someone is wearing when you're bringing them content for free to them.
