Murdaugh family is an example of growing up privileged, entitled, and never hearing the word No. Their legacy will forever be synonymous with greed, gluttony, and corruption.

It’s important to note Alex had millions but stole the money from insurance meant to go to his deceased housekeepers sons. One son was taking care of his disabled brother when their trailer home foreclosed and rendered them homeless while wealthy Alex still picketed all of their money. His alibi also has not checked out during the murder of his wife and son and everyone in his life, including his loved ones, have testified against him. The kids on the boat all testified that Paul hit his girlfriend and drive naked and recklessly out of anger as they begged him to stop. They crashed and Mallory died. This is the most vile family I’ve ever heard of and the scary thing is this power has lingered in the south for generations but the “good ole boys club” is slowly dying.

This family reminds me of the "affluenza" case, where the young boy committed vehicular homicide of several people while he was also "under the influence." He received a slap on the wrist, after which he and his enabler mother went on th run to Mexico. Lovely people, aren't they?

There's no way he spent millions and millions of dollars on opioids. Gambling, that's where millions go, imo. And that's just the millions missing from the law office, what about the 3 million from the death lawsuit of the maid. Privilege and greed ruined this family, addiction is secondary

I'm a native local to the area, live close to the Murdaugh law firm actually. My entire life I've always heard if you wanna make some shit go away, you talk to Alex and he'll hook you up lol. Paul was only a year or two older than me so we had a few mutual friends and our parents went to highschool together. I've heard from mutual friends that Paul was a chronic alcoholic and that all he'd ever do at parties was stand in the corner with a bottle and drink liquor. It's absolutely crazy seeing this story being talked about by so many people.

There is an allegation now that Alex defrauded the housekeeper's family out of insurance money also.

I notice you did not mention that Gloria Satterfield had 4.3 million dollars of life insurance. Since when does someone take out 4.3 million dollars of life insurance on the life of a housekeeper? This alone makes her death highly suspicious.

I knew a guy in high school who was similar in personality and behavior to the prosecutor’s son. His parents came into large sums of money by selling off land that had been in their family for generations and by renting out small, run down homes in the community. He was arrogant and behaved in ways that screamed, “I’m entitled!” He waved 100 dollar bills around in classes and at school dances and football games. We all lived in a small town in the 1970s when inflation was rampant, so he used his money to impress everyone and to get his way. He married a beautiful, sweet girl right out of high school, but she divorced him a year later due to his drinking, drug use, abusive behavior, etc. Long story short...he ended up broke, living in a broken down mobile home and alone...he’s still a womanizer and still drinks and occasionally takes drugs. He caused much heartache over the years and he was arrested many times...his family will have nothing to do with him.

One thing that wasn't mentioned, Alex's wife had hired a forensic account to go though the family"s personal account. It is reported she had found irregularities. Then she ends up dead.

Paul had a $30m dollar lawsuit hanging over the family like a black cloud from the boat accident. It’s pretty clear why one son was targeted over the other one.

The sad part to me is that the Beach family has offered their condolences, even with having lost one of their own.

Seems like there’s so much more to this story than what we know still. I bet there’s a long list of people who hated this family.

Thanks for covering this. I've been following this case since Maggie and Paul were murdered. This case just keeps getting curiouser and curiouser. I live in the Lowcountry and I think this family has been drinking way too much marsh water. And just as a side note, we don't say things the way they're spelled because that would be too easy; Alex Murdaugh is actually pronounced as ALEC MURDOCK. I know, I don't get it either. Just a real deep-fried Southern Gothic novel unfolding before our eyes.

How timely that I stumbled upon this video, since the trial of Alex Murdaugh for murder is currently in progress. This reminds me of the OJ Simpson trial where the defense is stacked with the best lawyers. As a retired attorney, I'm mesmerized by this case that I am watching live. Midway thru it's clear (but maybe not to the jury) that Alex shot and killed his wife and son. His behavior seems to display remorse for killing the son but nothing for the wife. I was hoping you could watch all the livestreams and discuss Alex Murdaugh with us again. It's becoming clear that Alex stole over $5M dollars from his law firm and his clients over at least a ten year period and that he's now been disbarred. People keep saying that Alex was a kind man who made everyone he talked to feel special, no one thought of him as a thief or a murderer. Alex's mother has advanced dementia needing 24 hour care. A Black woman who cares for her from 6pm to 6am daily was a witness in the trial. Alex made the mistake of giving three recorded statements of his whereabouts and conduct at the time of the murder to police. Much of that has now been proven false. Following the murder, Alex brought a garment to his mother's house. He stayed for around 20 minutes, and went back to the crime scene. Alex told the caretaker to say that he had been there 30 to 40 minutes. This would have given Alex an alibi for the shooting. As the caretaker told the truth on the witness stand she was crying tears were running down her face as she spoke. When asked why she broke down, she said she loved Alex, his wife and son, they had been so kind to her and her two children and Alex loved his family. It was clearly hurting her to be truthful and realize that Alex probably did kill the victims but she just couldn't believe it. You should alsoblisten to the tapes of Alex talking to his remaining son from jail. I think Alex knows he killed Paul and his wife, and he probably killed or arranged the killing of his housekeeper who fell down the stairs (and possibly others), but he doesn't really believe that was real, that there were any consequences to those actions. Like Trump and his lost election. It's also believed that Alex's claim of addiction to opioids was a lie, intended to prove him with an excuse but no one in his daily life had ever seen any symptoms of addiction and you can't maintain normalcy and be a heroin or opioid addict for 20 years. This case presents many mysteries. He killed the housekeeper for money, he defrauded her children out of a $2M insurance settlement. And he killed his wife for money because his homes are in her name and, not knowing about his debts to the law firm, his clients and others, she had refused to allow the sales, she wanted to continue to live in their Edesto beachfront house. Another mystery -- no one knows what he did with the millions he stole. Or why he would always answer his cell phone when he received call even if hexwas in the middle of an important meeting or in mid-conversation with a friend. What kind of personality or mental disorder does Alex have? Narcissism doesn't seem to fit because everyone says about Alex that he can read people very, very well, including their emotions. I hope you can catch up on all of this now when it's all on KZfaq and discuss Alex Murdaugh with us again!

Based on local comments on fb article posts on this story, I think calling the family "beloved" is a stretch..."feared" may be a better term.

I really think this shows how damaging it can be when you try to 'protect' those close to you from the repercussions of their actions - as in most cases, preventing these repercussions (losing their job, going to jail etc) endangers them even more in the future as they are never forced to examine and change their ways, which can eventually lead to significant harm/death of themselves, or others Especially when this pattern of covering is repeated with each generation.

Eventually, this story of drugs, ego, and greed will make its way into a movie or book. But, first, justice must be done.

Apart from the fact that use of illegal substances is harmful, as you mentioned, the use of so called legal intoxicats, like alcohol, is also harmful for the person using it and for the community. It has been extensively proved by scientific research and is also prohibited in ALL religions, including in original Christianity. It is causing millions of deaths, misery, crimes, lost healths and careers, broken marriages, welfare, and costing hundreds of billions in health bills and lost productivity.

For the sake of "setting" and those of you not from the "Low Country", Hampton Co is set in the southern swamps and wetlands just southwest of the ACE basin and bordering Georgia to the South. It is rich in Live Oaks and Spanish Moss as well as old rice plantations and gators. The area is known for "Frogmore stew", shrimp and grits and friendly but close knit small towns and communities.

He stole from his firm, his clients and even tried to steal the compensation for the family of his housekeeper who had worked for the Murdaugh family for twenty years. Sounds like the parents perpetuated in their boys a sense of entitlement and that they can get away w anything w/out taking accountability! Pretty disgusting. It appears that Alex has been orchestrating predicaments for years and used the police and bought them off/used pressure tactics. I wouldn't trust their tears as far as I could throw them!!

There's somthing to be said for lifes challenges and its humbling affect. People that only experience material wealth and with few responsibilities can be very shallow. An environment that fosters me, me, me, all the time, is very detrimental to ones inherant need for growth and expansion. 🙏🌅🌌

My couch analysis is that the son was a serial killer. The dad tried to cover it up. Hired a hitman to take them out to get the insurance. He was too late to pay back the embezzlement. So, decided to fake shoot himself to make it look like a person was after all of them. This is going to make a great documentary.

There’s also the fact that Alex convinced the housekeeper’s family to sue his home insurance for wrongful death. When the money came in, Alex stole that money and kept it for himself. The son of the housekeeper became homeless because of losing his mother, and having no money to live on. The Murdaughs were aware of all this but didn’t care. There’s also the theme of death all over their property, with hunting dog kennels, dozens of guns in “blinds” everywhere, a quail hunting ground. All that shooting and death. I’m happy those depraved murdering scumbags no longer occupy that space and wildlife can do a collective sigh of relief. People suck.
