Analyzing 1000+ Audience Vs Critic Reviews. Who was right?

I wanted to know why the critics hated this movie and why the audience loved this movie. Was it the animation? Was it the story? Why is this movie breaking records with the audience but not the critics?

Mario is on the big screen 11 years after Fix It Felix Jr thought Mario was at his door and said he was "...fashionably late, as usual". Di$ney didn't want Mario on screen in Wreck it Ralph for fear of him overshadowing their title character. Now he's overshadowing everything Di$ney have put out in the last 5 years. From the comfort of his own film.

I never got the it's just dumb fun from audiences or the critics not liking dumb fun because wasn't the whole point of critics to expain why something did or didn't work no matter if it was fun, funny, scary, tension filled, or emotional???

I thought it was the opposite, they pay critics to say good stuff about their content. It is not only Disney that does this, I thought Amazon also did this with their LOTR series.

That's the problem. The Mario movie already had such a massive fanbase that it didn't even try to be more than just a blatant copy paste of the games. Yeah sure the movie was fun but that's it. The entire movie was basically pointing towards the screen and recognising references. This might be a fun movie to watch but I'll never watch this movie again. This is a bad video game adaptation imo.

Cope. This Mario movie is exactly what most Mario fans, and even videogamers in general, wanted out of a Mario movie. Especially when you compare it to the disaster of the 1993 Mario movie in which they tried to change the source IP and it did not work out.

@@_Just_Another_Guy I know. This movie would have been really good if there weren't other video game adaptations which were done wayy better than this. Like Sonic, Arcane. The best parallel to the Mario movie is Wreck it Ralph (though it's not an adaptation but it's still a game u know). Yeah if u r a Mario fan then you will definitely enjoy the movie all throughout because you already know all the stuff. I wish if there were a bit more heart to heart character moments so that I would have been attached to some characters emotionally.

I think it’s a little condescending saying that there’s no heart in the movie and this is the first movie that Nintendo has produced

@@rickthatsky List them, the video game movie adaptations you think are good, and l mean the animated ones. Also that's a completely lie you can clearly see the passion they've put in on this, you're just blind by perfection. And further more, l'm in no way a Mario fan and yet l enjoyed this movie as it is. If you don't like it, that's fine. But don't call it bad just it's a copy of other things.. It's a Mario Movie! It's impossible to adapt it any other way. If you don't understand that statement, then this movie ain't for you or me. But at least l recognize it's good, do you?

Audience 💯 the critics are dumb. Whenever you do a movie that tries to impress the critics and not the audience you fail reference Super Mario Bros 1990s. Also the 100 video game references made it even more exciting; It's a video game movie. Only downside girlboss Princess Peach, they should have at least made her more like the Peach in the Super Mario 1990s cartoon. This one nearly made her a girl boss, thank goodness they didn't go all the way.

Heaven forbid that a video game movie has video game elements in it. Shocker! Critics are just so far out from reality nowadays. They're paid to shill for whatever movie their overlords tell them to shill for. Same goes for ragging against a movie. It's better to trust what the audience thinks rather than the critics. There are exceptions to that, but they are so few and far between that it doesn't really matter much.
