Fabi said in interview it was not prep but he saw the idea in a similar position of the king indian and it was part of the reason he was playing the king indian.

Well he mentioned that at the end. But I agree that there shouldn't be so much emphasis on "prep" by Naro, I think it was much more about Fabi's amazing raw and cold computing prowess

Every move Fabi plays is memorised in advance. If you ever see him pull off amazing end game technique, it's all lines he's memorised well in advance. He doesn't even take breaks to eat during long, arduous sessions of memorisation. He receives nutrients through a mix of IV and suppositories. Fabi actually has very little natural talent in chess. All other top GMs do no prep and are just insanely intuitive geniuses. Believe me - I'm a GM.

Caruana isn't a very flashy player, like MVL or Dubov, but he has a very quiet and understated sense of creativity and originality in his own way. He's one of the deepest thinkers among the top players, reminds me of peak Kramnik.

@@rq4740 not in this video, but on his Twitch streams from a few days ago. You can find out more about the situation by looking on the chess subreddit. It incites strong emotions.. Danya's biggest emphasis is he wants people to be constructive in their criticism, not destructive/hateful.

Hey Danya! I don't comment that often, but this channel has pumped my lichess Rapid and Bullet Rating about 2200 in 1 year or so. The quality and how you explain difficult Positions is extraordinary good, that I sometimes find myself can't believing that content is really free. It's always a pleasure to watch your streams :)

Underrated ? In the french community it was a hell of a storm ! I think it's Laurent Fressinet who said it would be a game remembered for years... But the game clearly was freaking awesome. Jorden vs Magnus was just mindblowing, yeah. Most of Jorden games actually, he had a ton of preps, no wonder he tied Giri and, although the latter was clearly the better player during all the finale, I can't say Van Foreest didn't deserve his win.

Radowslaw got posterized by an immortal KID. Fabi's preparation is unparalleled, I feel like Rustam Kasimdzhanov is a really creative force and amazing theoretician. I believe he has worked with Anand, Karjakin and others...the fact that so many top players employ him as second and trainer says a lot. Let's not forget that Rustam was a FIDE world champion in the early 2000s and is extremely underrated. I love these type of theoretical games that change the way dogmatic positions are assessed, this is what helps keep the game fresh and moving forward.

What an incredible positional lesson on the KID. "If you play a move like this, you're getting your hands chopped off in Russia" I've put so much value on my dark square bishop in the KID, as a defensive and offensive resources, that Bxc3 doesn't even cross my mind, or if it does, I instantly rule it out. Both bishops?? You're out of your mind. The concrete reasons you showed here though, playing against the bishop on f3, just incredible.

The idea of trading the light squared bishop off for the knight in a position where black has less space is present in certain lines of the modern Benoni, which Fabi has a history of playing!

FYI, @32:18, the refutation of Nf3 followed by Rxf3 Re1+ isn't Bf1 I don't think because of Rg1+ in that line, winning the rook on d1 next. The issue is that after Re1+, white has the weird move Kh2 and the rook trade is FORCED because attempting to avoid the rook leads to white actually mating you with a rook on h8, intersecting the bishop on b2. Pretty wild stuff, but amazing analysis thanks!

I personally feel like kings Indian positions mostly become closed in the long run and I have had times when I question why I would want to hold onto my bishops...but this is mostly in a queen less middle game

White squared bishop is essential in many kings Indians position for the attack to break through. Black squared bishop can do a really good job defending the queenside if the position becomes really closed.

IMO White made a few minor mistakes before the surprising Bg7xNc3, mainly Bxf3 instead of gxf3. Then, in retrospect, after ... Nd7, Bf3-e2 really needed to be played and then it can be said when Black plays Bg7xc3 Qd2xc3 and Rxe4, it can be said that the 2 bishops should compensate for loss of pawn and especially if Black can regain a tempo making the R move. The problem with the B on f3 is that it's weak and has no scope. The pawns e4 and c4 are supposed to be a strength but are immobile and just get in the way of the bishops. So, although it's bad that white has to give up the e4 pawn, it's the lesser of evils to activate the 2 bishops. And, of course the all these problems could have been avoided from the beginning by just retaking on f3 with the g2 pawn instead of the bishop. The real rule that White broke in this game? It's that if you're going to set up a bind, that should be your prime objective to make it as sturdy as possible and White didn't do that. Because he wanted to preserve his K side pawn structure (when it really doesn't count, the attacking and defending issues are probably equal whether gxf3 happens or not), he was manipulated to make moves he otherwise wouldn't have made and so ended up with a pawn structure that didn't fit the pieces he owned. Kudos to Caruano for creating a strategy that exposed White's mistakes.

Actually, this is common for the binds (Maroczy and the KID version like in this game which Nimzovitch calls the "Boleslavsky wall"). Nimzovitch describes in "My System" how if the player with the bind isn't mindful of the two pawns, they become attackable weaknesses.

I like Agadmator video . But IMO Danya analysis is far superior . Small detail like Nd7 was left out in Agadmator video . The concept of move the knight after it did it job is an eye opening.
