i feel like you can see Chans personality the most in his live streams "Chan's room" and in Skz-Code when he doesn't have to be in leader mode.

Came here to say this exact same thing! Chan's Room is where I feel his true personality shows thru the most. I can see where his leader mode activates and he becomes more guarded at times in the public eye. But I also believe his members are his true "home" and they know him very well inside and out. But there are beautiful moments we do get to see. The speech he gave and letters he wrote them when they debuted... His ments at concerts... The letter he wrote and read to Hiwa at the concert she was supposed to meet them (thru Make A Wish) before her passing. Those are some moments I believe the true person Chris is shines thru and where his humanity truly shows.

I was about to say the same, his personality comes out when he doesn't have his leader mode on, usually when they are doing a skit where other members are more active or sometimes in Chan's room but he does have a dark burdened side of him that we don't get to see. Only a handful of recordings when you can see him getting agitated and members getting nervous.I am referring to the vlive event where staff was incompetent and members were really tired and Chan kept his cool but you could tell he is really mad

Everyone will write a gushy paragraph, but I will only say this: Bang Chan is more snarky than he gets credit for haha. He's all warm hugs and smiles on camera, but don't miss that sneaky glint in his eye and sharp edge to his words. He's leader hyung for a reason! 😉

Exactly this!!😂 Aa a Chan biased person this is not only my favourite trait but also one of the first things I noticed about him. I'm realising people don't bring it up much. That Aussie wit is very much a huge part of his personality, it probably just doesn't translate very well lol.

Thats it! It reflects a lot of his protectiveness and jutdae in some ways coz he wont stand down if his members or overall group is attacked, like NOEASY shows that. Its like a passive aggresive aggressiveness. And there is also strictness towards those he love, like he scolds and give that one look warning. ANd im particularly wanting this side of his to be highlighted coz often times, his kindness is taken for granted or is made to put him in a pedestal and then people, even stays, get offended when he stands his ground

really hope you can see the true self of bangchan, as a stay i can totally say this; he doesn't appear too much, neither give himself a spotlight, he really do the job to uplift everyone, so much that if you don't see him outside of skz content people will not know how he is, we can really see him through channies room, this was so beautiful because he appears himself so truthful, talk about him, what he enjoys, his fears, he really gave his heart even when people were so cruel to him during lives, hope you can watch channies room old content and really see him and appreciated

I agree 100% with you. I feel Chan's Room was where he could really "let his hair down" and be himself. To really open up and be close to his fans. Many felt so close to him that they began asking for his advice about their own lives. Many times the advice he gave was really good. He would even play music, and critique music videos suggested sometimes by others in the room. When I'd visited Channie's room I actually felt a sense of togetherness. I sensed from his room that he has a very genuine heart. He really cares and I felt too that he put more care for others above the care for himself at times. He'd put down his thinning hair or nose at times...but at the same time he would speak about possibly working out. Because of the positive feedback he received, I feel that he was beginning to love himself more. Then it was taken from him so easily by either "toxic fans" or "by the "non fans" who decided to start a fan war from what he said. He never mentioned any names but opening up about something that bothered him, speaking from his heart. Then his company made him end his room. Personally it felt to me like being given something good in your life, and then suddenly because of someone else's wrongdoing, it was snatched away from us. We felt cheated. We worried about how he would take it. So many of us worried about our "close friend" and how it affected him. At that time he and the other Kids were working on 5-Star. When they would share behind the scenes video, it seemed like BangChan was only allowed in the camera view as long as he didn't speak....it's just an observance I don't know if he was banned from it. During interviews it seemed like they skipped him too. Then as time passed, He would talk again, but thereafter he always seems guarded. He doesn't seem like the open BangChan he once was. At least he can speak into the camera again. I absolutely agree that when you get the chance, watch some Channie's Room videos. The very last one was ep. 208. :)

@@truetigress8401Everything started bc someone with bad intentions shared the tik tok of a *one* kid multistan on a toxic Korean forum putting it as "proof" of 'Stays hating on IVE bc what Chan said '. And bc other fandoms shared that tik tok on Twitter on purpose to making a big issue about it and provoke Dive and every kpoper who hate SKZ to attack on Chan. (This was exactly when Stays began to find out about the matter). But even, some Stays who discovered that tik tok bf were trying to reporting it bf everything went out of control, and asking Dives and everyone to help and no making a fuss about it. But they didn't wanted to listen. Even that mulstistan put the video on private, but was too late, bc kpopers went fast sharing it. So the thing is KDive got carried away bc the post shared on that Kforum, and them and SKZ haters made a hate campaign against Chan accusing him of being a 'idols girls'bully' on various Korean platforms. And that's why JYPE banned Chan'sroom...Many ppl lied about the real story about what happened. Stays themselves believed and spread the version in which i'ts 'our fault'. When the reality is that IVE has been accused of not having 'good manners' since their debut by all kpopers in the world. They also created tiks toks and other types of content on the subject. (not Stay)...That's the reality. So when Chan said that it was obvious that in some corner of the internet someone was going to use his words to accuse them. But even so, the person who shared the tik tok confessed at the time that she wasn't angry with IVE bc of Chan, just she simply heard the rumors about them so she shared that tik tok 'to make fun of their fans'...But everyone took advantage of that random tik tok to blame us and have a perfect 'excuse' for hating on Chan. Also many kpop channels joined in spreading the false information about this, using the excuse that 'kpop fandoms in general are very overprotective and blah blah'. Accusations without properly investigating what happened, placing IVE as 'victims' in this situation and Chan as 'reckless'. And no one even reported on Dives hate campaign on him, with their xenofobic comments, etc... Then, It seems like the company treated this matter like when an idol is accused of bullying and they usually put them on 'hiatus'. Meanwhile IVE surely has no idea about this type of criticism towards them by some foreingners on some sites online. Like, they are one of the groups with the most fans, and more loved and defended. So Chan was massively and disproportionately attacked just bc a fandom were angry about the tik tok from a random multiStan that nobody would know about it if SKZ haters and Dives wouldn't shared it in many sites. So at this point, although I miss the chansroom, my biggest wish is that JYPE one day takes real action against haters, bc the more famous they become, the more attacks they will receive. But, he made it clear many times that he was happy to interact with Stay. And in fact, on BB he has been more positive, commenting on happy things, thanking Stay for many things, asking for advice on fashion, etc. Also he is the last one to leave fan events even when the event is over, and at concerts he used to end up giving a hug. It's just that all of that is harder to see.

I think BangChan having left his family in his early teens to train with JYP for 7 years and faced loneliness depression and rejection at such a young age shaped him and it really made me sad when he wrote the song Social Path although he has through grit and determination overcome everything to become the success he is today and is in part the driving force behind the others. You should check out Chan’s Room where you can see his warmth and sincerity with Stay.

3:06 I always felt the same about Bang Chan, that's why I had a hard time relating to him sometimes, but I feel like he is actually more honest and genuine than he seems. To me he is like an introvert that mastered the art of being extraverted so he is rapidly socially drain and when the camera is not on him or when he has the occasion of not being in the spotlight he takes the chance. I like him way more now and I think that he is just a tired introvert that takes his role as a leader very seriously, he is just extremely professional. As an older sister he reminds me how I communicate with my siblings, trying to be reliable, soft and cheerful while loving my peace and being taken care of sometimes

I think Chan's realest moment was when he was talking about that time when he was a kid where he was at the pool underwater and he shouted into his snorkel and everyone heard it and he resurfaced from the water and everyone was looking at him, and after realizing what he did he just smiles wide and goes back in the water.. so relatable you know when you smile like a maniac but you're really embarrassed hahahahha

Amazing video as always🥰 About 3:01 and Bang Chan's 'true personality', of course every idols plays themselves up or puts on a bit of an act for the camera - but Bang Chan has actually been talked about by other idols and ex staff members, and to put it shortly, they've all pretty much confirmed that what you see on camera is what you get off camera too. I remember another artist BM (from Kard) said Chan is truly one of the nicest idols on and off camera. And ex staff members spoke out saying he was one of the nicest people they've worked with. Even if his smiles may not shine fully from the soul in each clip, or if its hard to tell what he's like in real life, I think it's safe to say he is a kind and reliable person. From the start and even predebut, he's always pushed the others into the spotlight. Despite being the leader, he never strives to be the center of attention. From the hundreds to maybe even thousands of videos I've seen from them and of Chan, I've gathered he's a very down to earth person, but has pretty strict principles and morals he stands by. However, he also lets his goofy side out in his Chan's Room livestreams. I think that's the most authentic version of him we've seen. He's a very balanced person who knows when to be serious, and when to layback a little. I think he's got one of the most admirable personalities and its easy to see him as a role model, which is why so many fans attach themselves to Chan and see him as a comfort person.

I really do admire Chan a lot for this reason. Not only as an idol or my ult bias, but just as a fellow human being. I think even if he doesn't realize it or believe it, he really has such a sweet soul. A lot of us find comfort in his presence for this reason, which is just really beautiful. Its really nice to see him be honest with stays and not 100% always happy and positive, because i think that makes him seem more like any other human before being an idol, because he's not putting on some kind of ultra-happy front all the time and shares the real side of him too, which can be silly and happy but also more serious. Overall, i look up to him a lot as a person. He's just special, you know? There's only one Bang Chan.

Honestly I was surprised when you said you're not sure about Channie's true personality because for me he's the one I understand and relate to the most. He is so amiable, so sweet and so responsible, doesn't like to be in the spotlight but has such an undeniable charm on stage, just down to earth, selfless, and does need to appreciate himself more and I feel like that's what he really needs sometimes, for someone, not only stay but the members and really close people to show love and appreciation openly to him. Cause he said himself he has many negative thoughts and often can't sleep with how much he thinks about things, I just think he needs to feel taken care of too despite him loving the 'dad role' with the members. He does have that inner kid still with him tho and you can see it in Chan's room and other content in moments, he can truly be so adorable especially with other people, also with his 'older brothers' from the industry like Young K or Minhyuk from btob. I think it's impossible for everyone who meets Chan not to love him. He's very social and open after all, even if most people don't understand him deeply. I sometimes think because truly kind people like him are rare nowadays that he doesn't seem genuine to others, like it's impossible, but trust me it is. You can see him really get vulnerable in ending ments in concerts(especially the 'I'll protect you all!' moment). And he's naturally trying to be positive and smiley but not faking it, because he's not that good at it, you can see when he's just tired and stressed so his radiant smiles get a bit dimmer then. He is a walking comfort and warmth, and I just know his hugs would feel like heaven. I just think you need to watch more content to truly get to know our kind, reliable, charming, humble, selfless, genius, sensitive leader. In Chan's room a stay once wrote a comment saying 'Chan you're like the feeling of walking into a warm room after a whole day out in the cold', and that's all you need, it really made him smile and appreciate those words🥺 Anyways you can watch and see yourself, I could talk about him for days

I love your analysis of the members. What you said about Chan having a responsibility at a young age and still trying to connect with his inner child is so on point. I feel like the weight of being a trainee for 7years has taken a lot of his youth even though he is pursuing his dreams it still put pressure on him to to do great, to debut and not get left behind. He was lonely for a long time and only been the happiest when he finally found his boys. It was an adjustment for sure but his genuine heart always shines in the end. He might be hard to read at times but when he is on his element he shines bright. SKZ wouldn’t be this close and tight if they don’t have a leader like Chan. He always allow each member to shine even when he can easily take on the biggest parts of songs yet often times he gave the other members the best parts and he will be at back supporting them. He has created a relationship within them that you wouldn’t see any ounce of competition with each other. They easily compliment each other, they openly show their admiration with each other and appreciate their work more, I think personally it is a testament on how Chan cultivated an environment that all of them are equal, in a culture that values hierarchy like Korea with it comes to age, leadership, longer experience, Stray Kids stray away from that norm and just become a collaborative group that each opinion matters, each opinions and thoughts are respected, with that they created a stronger bond. This is why I love Stray Kids cause they has always been a unique group for me.

They put themselves out in content since survival show. It is easy to see the personal growth and personality over the years, no matter how much they’d camouflage, play up, or play down. The background (environment and social class they were raised) is evident in how they turned out. Seungmin is certifiable upper or upper middle class in a family deeply connected with Korean elite class. Changbin grew up solid upper middle class in a loving and wealthy family. These two possess a natural ease and confidence. Felix also came from money and cushy environment. He has jubilance from being loved by everyone growing up (not a single bad word from his classmates) but the struggle to adapt to strict Korean societal order and language barrier sent him to a corner for a couple of years. His hard work in adapting and his good nature let him shine really bright in a harsh idol business. Chan’s parents are not wealthy but they instill something special in Chan, who happened to be a very special and talented person. Hyunjin, Lee Know, and IN were from middle class background, comfortable but not like Seungmin and Changbin (and Felix). But it is evident that they are loved and supported by their family. To conclude, these guys were raised right and inherently good in character and personality. A solid foundation to add talent and hard work they are bound to be successful. Chan had seen many trainees come and go in his long training time. He is a shrewd judge of character. These guys he picked (jype probably suggested KWJ and Lee Know) we have gotten to know over the years to be worthy of our support and devotion. I really love these guys and admire their strength and perseverance.

I think during 5-star Era Han had really hard time to have any energy to show only his brightest sides in public or in front of camera. Not because he didn't care others' eyes but because it is already hard to overcome his feeling-down to put up a happy mask in his face. Yet since he is really responsible for and very sincere in his music, he still showed flawless performances on the stages. Remember the day they won the first place in a music show at the first time. He cried for the whole 8 minutes yet while crying hard, he still delivered his part perfectly. Because to him music and stage are really important and more important than his personal feelings at that moment. He has been loved and encouraged by his family in his child years, but he did homeschooling since his elementary years, so he naturally didn't have much experiences to get along with kids in similar ages from other families unlike most of kids who usually spend more than ten years in school with other classmates So as he said several time, he had hard time to fit into teenager's general society at first. Plus he becomes really shy or sometimes even panicked around newly-met people or in crowds. (Physically affected) So one can imagine how precious the SKZ members are to him. They are friends and family to him, and the closet people he accepts to come into the inside of his high mindbarriers. He really wants to maintain good relationships with his close people, especially his groupmates and really wants to make them happy by his doings even if it might eat him up. He would willingly become a laughable clown to cheer up his loving group mates Many people didn't think so, but he is very responsible and caring and often puts his precious people in front of himself. And Hyunjin is a very sensitive and caring friend and he did notice it and mentioned it to Han in their two kids room. I think Hyunjin is the member who appreciates and admires Han most in mind. Even when other members make him sad, he with mbti-t always finds excuse for them and their behavior and accepts it even if it hurted him. I never saw him saying badly about other members and other people. He would say we did have some conflicts sometimes but I did wrong or the understandable misunderstnding happened between us and the other involved person didn't do anything wrong and several times he would make sure it with long explanations so that nobody judges the other ones badly by his words. And if some gropmate hurt his feeling or teased him too badly, instead of being angry or backfiring mean words, Han gives back him good words like "I love you", or "I liked it, though", or at maximom he would say "it really hurts, so would you kindly stop doing it for me" During the concerts others sometimes cried but he didn't. He got his eyes soaked once when Chan cried and poured his gut. Perhaps because he felt for Chan. In the 2nd SKZ family ep., Chan got exhausted by playing a five-year-old baby role, but nobody noticed. And Han directly went to him to give a tight long hug to comfort him. And remember again, he was the one who cried for the whole 8 minutes even though Han rarely cried during concerts unlike other members. I think he felt guilty, deeply pressured and sorry towards other not-composing members and the company staffs during the period when their album didn't give satisfying results. But he wouldn't have been able to show them those feeling because they had to give them confidences since 3racha are SKZ producers and the producers' showing the lack of confidence to their members are not helping at all and not a nice thing to do to the other members who had had beliefs in them. So, when SKZ finally won the 1st places he couldn't help but cry perhaps because he could finally put down a bit of the burdens as one of unsuccessful producers and deep sorry feelings to others. He found comforting in Changbin's hug because they had shared those burdens together as 3racha But Han is also a very brave person despite of his social anxiety he couldn't control by himself. He bravely shares his weak sides and is and tries to be very candid about himself and sometimes very harsh and strict to himself and his own work, but at the same time very generous and understanding to others. He wouldn't complain even if others didn't do well. (But he wouldn't give empty compliments to others, either. He would give others only the compliments he really thinks so. He really knows how to appreciate, thank and enjoy beautiful or great persons or things) He didn't disguise himself in order to look a better person than who he really is. He wants himself to be a great artist and a good person in his eyes, so he gives lots of efforts and hard works to meet his own standards that are pretty higher than the usual ones In a balance game go back to 10 years ago vs. go forward to 10 years later, he chose to go back because he wanted to erase his shameful doings. And also he said he keeps thinking in bed when he thinks he did wrong things that day. So he cares and cares a lot. He feels awkward when he gets praised but definitely becomes happy. He really cares his people and the group's mood. Also he becomes very active during filming some entertaining contents, because for Han it's his job to make the viewers happy and the making staffs feel relieved by good results Hope Han being happy and healthy, because he really deserves it ❤

Han is always very sincere with the people around him and the world in general. He never lies, that's what I really realized. In the 5 star era, he could have shut down a lot of times, pretending that he was fine, smiling through the force. But instead, he honestly showed his condition, kept working hard, giving himself to the stage and yet not holding back the rare but no less bright smiles. Instead of giving false smiles through force, he just smiled and laughed less often, but always from the heart. Therefore, it was always very easy to notice his seriousness or embarrassment. At the same time, he would not play a role either. If he decides that the conversation is serious for him, he will forget the fun and will try to make sure that he is taken seriously and listened to. I am absolutely in love with his personality. He doesn't worry at all about other people's opinions and does things the way he wants himself and how he feels comfortable. I think that's exactly what brings him and LeeKnow together. They both said that they make a great couple because they both "don't care" and would rather have fun than make things serious and complicated. Thank you for another reaction and for once again gracing us with your smile and open joy at just seeing Han! He truly is the sunshine of his fans and all the people who love or respect him. Your musings are always very interesting to listen to!

So, when SKZ finally won the 1st places he couldn't help but cry perhaps because he could finally put down a bit of the burdens as unsuccessful producers and deep sorry feelings to others. He found comforting in Changbin's hug because they had shared those burdens together as 3racha But Han is also a very brave person despite of his social anxiety he couldn't control himself. He bravely shares his weak sides and is and tries to be very candid about himself and sometimes very harsh and strict to himself and his own work, but at the same time very generous and understanding to others. He wouldn't complain even if others didn't do well. (But he wouldn't give empty compliments to others, either. He would give others only the compliments he thinks so. He really knows how to appreciate, thank and enjoy beautiful or great persons or things) He didn't disguise himself as a better person than who he really is. He wants himself to be a great artist and a person in his eyes, so he gives lots of efforts and hours to meet his standards that are pretty higher than the usual ones In a balance game go back to 10 years ago vs. go forward to 10 years later, he chose to go back because he wanted to erase his shameful doings. And also he said he keeps thinking when he thinks he did wrong. So he cares. He feels awkward when he gets praised but definitely becomes happy. He really cares his people and the group's mode. Also he becomes very active during filming some entertaining contents, because for Han it's his job to make the viewers happy and the making staffs feel relieved by good results Hope Han being happy and healthy, he really deserves it ❤

@@sykim7838 Sorry, I don't know why, but I only noticed your reply now. Firstly, I would like to say that your words towards Han are incredibly beautifully framed, and I agree with everything you said. I think our opinions differ only in the smallest part. Personally, I think that no matter how depressed a person is, they can always hide it if they want to, especially if it's for the camera. But Han didn't do it. Not even for the shortest videos, which might not have even reached 3 minutes. Which is why I still think Han is very open and sincere with his audience. Yes, not 100%, because despite his depressed state he still tried to be smiling and preferred to hide from the cameras, but he gives us the maximum truth that is possible. He does everything in such a way that he doesn't overstep the boundaries and people don't get scared for his condition, but also that it's quite clear that he's obviously not all right and fans can immediately understand how it's better to behave with him in this era, to communicate with him at the same fancalls or meetings. And this is incredibly important - such sincere communications of an idol with his fans with the help of emotions, not just words, which many idols can not say, no matter how much they want to. And this approach to the situation helped him a lot. The fans really behaved differently, at meetings and calls they talked to him more gently, smoothly and tried to cheer him up, and I am sure that this also played a role in his improvement. If he was hiding this depressive period, the fans would have been more free to behave as usual and could have inadvertently hurt his wounds without trying to be more careful with a man whose mental state was not the best. But again, this is my point of view, we all notice something different in the same situations. With everything else, I completely agree with you. Han Jisung is one of the MOST responsible members of the band and has carried a big burden since his debut, as has everyone in 3rach to be fair. And not just because of the music and production. Han has always been known for Ace's abilities and even from the debut Han has taken a lot of responsibility because of that. I will still cherish the moment when he, the main rapper, took the courage to sing the most difficult part of their song in a survival show. He didn't even flinch, he didn't even hesitate. The guys said they were scared to perform it and Chan just suggested Han and Jisung didn't argue, just nodded. And when they showed his training, it was clear that it wasn't easy for him to do it at all. It was a huge responsibility, but in front of the guys he acted so calmly, as if he had taken a part that he didn't even have to rehearse. It's because of this calmness, which he includes on purpose to avoid worrying the other guys, that few people see Jisung as truly responsible and brave, even within the fandom. And of course, the 5 stars era proved to us his responsibility again. In fact, there are examples amongst the idols where a person could go on stage and not perform at least 50% and find an excuse in the form of "not the best condition". And when I look at Han, who despite his health problems got up on stage and performed as if nothing was wrong with him, I could only admire him and realize how mature and responsible he is. Yes, his performances lacked that very cheerfulness or did not show the enjoyment of the performance, which is always most noticeable by his facial expressions and active dancing, but without all this he did his job just perfectly. He danced even better than in past cb, sang steadily and loudly as if he'd eaten the studio version and looked relaxed, giving us all the same beautiful scenes. He is definitely one of the most amazing idols who takes his job really seriously, just like any other worker should and no matter what profession. I'm also incredibly in love with the way you highlighted such warm moments where Han was very attentive and affectionate to the members. This is, again, my view and my observations, but I always felt like Han was very hungry for love. Changbin once said that Han wants to be loved by people, and he's very smart because he knows how to make people love him. And it really seems to me that Jisung adjusts to absolutely every person so that he can be given that love. For example, Chan. Every single member always runs away from him, pulls out of his embrace, or push him when Chan shows them affection. And Han is the only one who doesn't. He's literally the only one who easily lets Chan hug him, and he's also the only one who can hold him close. All because it's important for Han to be given any form of love. For Seungmin, to show love is to be a little rude, to start annoying, but loving and gentle and Han, to get that, also behaves with Seungmin directly, more sincerely than with the others. And if for Chan, showing affection is tactile, Han will accept it too because he will feel tender and cared for from it. The guys also mentioned that Jisung isn't that tactile himself, but he can easily hug someone close to him if it makes his friend feel better. I honestly almost cried at your words about how he could feel guilty because their music didn't get as much attention. Now thinking about it, his long tears during the awards do hit my heart harder than before. I feel like every time Han cries, it's always long and loud, and that's why he always tries to keep his cool and not cry in front of the members or his audience. Because his tears can go on for too long, and he doesn't want that to happen because he knows how long it will take to calm down 🥺💔 Han is quite a complex personality, difficult to understand or read so immediately, but I always find it interesting to observe him and notice new details. And I really enjoyed your analysis, I was able to notice something for myself that I hadn't noticed before. I want to say thank you for loving Han and being a fan. With someone like that in the audience, the fandom will not be lost 💖💖💖

This + reading the comments has been fascinating to me, mainly because Bang Chan has always seemed like an absolutely open book to me, and not just because of Channie’s Room (though that did help) - It’s not that I think he’s always up front with how he feels (he’s npt), but when he’s not it’s always because some other value of his takes precedent. E.g., making sure the other members feel comfortable and secure, not worrying STAY too much, etc., are more important than always going “no filter” when the cameras are rolling. But - as some commenters have noted - he’s expressive through his music, and shows his genuine love for the members and for STAY *so* freely (including those times when he’s in “leader mode” as part of this!). SKZ is his life and passion; I think sometimes he probably even says things people might misinterpret as part of the job or band leader persona (e.g. “everything we do is for the fans!”) - I think he’s actually not only sincere but often speaking spontaneously, it just sometimes comes out in words that don’t usually mean as much as they do to him. I feel like you should really watch the “ending ments” from some of their concerts, especially if there’s a fan video they watch and respond to first. In general I feel like people sort of undersell how important their actual live concerts are, to them and to anyone in attendance. Every last one of them is a performer who lives for the stage at this point, and they really put everything they have - emotionally, physically, spiritually even? - into their live performances. It would be interesting to see what you thought of, firstly, the whole practice of taking literally like 45 minutes straight towards the end of their shows to basically reflect and talk about their feelings, but secondly the differences in how open/expressive/etc they might seem in front of a live audience. I think Bang Chan in particular really lives for a live audience - or maybe: either a live audience or relatively “private” open-ended activities (like Channie’s room, but also like making music??) and sometimes this sort of content occupies a weird middle ground that he deals with by being “professional” about it (which seems totally reasonable to me).

(I know I have already Typed Paragraphs but hear me out)- One way to think about this is that the other members have the space and security to be as open and genuine as they are *because* Bang Chan set and nurtured that tone from the start and *will* go to bat for them every single time, with every fiber of his being. And then he’s the go-between (and, I think, sometimes firewall) for them and the company, in a pretty much totally novel situation in k-pop where *he* put the group together to begin with. He’d be the first to tell you that their excellence is not his to claim, but creating the space for it to grow and thrive kind of is. If that guy is sometimes a little more guarded with his off-the-cuff feelings on camera (especially given how often perfectly civil and reasonable off-the-cuff comments have come back to bite him in the past when weird antis make a scandal of it on Twitter or whatever) - I mean, I get it.

@maxpbeaumont I did! I think you really got it right with Bang Chan not always expressing himself. It often seems like he does things a particular way to make it easier for the others, like he's trying to facilitate them more. As a result, I think he often adjusts to the situation & tries to react in a way that's best for all of them. In contrast, I think most of the other members tend to stay in their comfort zones or help each other in those situations while Chan prefers to manage things himself

I agree with everybody else in the comments about Bang Chan, but I will say you're also not too far off in a certain sense. From what I can tell from old clips and them talking about how he was predebut, moving to a different country by himself at age 13 and being in performance boot camp for seven years (while watching other trainees leave or debut before him) took a pretty big toll on his emotions and left him feeling isolated. And the way he coped was to emotionally block himself off for the most part, so he had a reputation of being very intimidating at that time, actually, because of how serious he came across. Since debut, though, I think he finally allowed himself to open up, and his members had a LOT to do with that. He's one of those people who's become a warm place of comfort because he knows what it's like to be in such a dark place. (Gosh you would love the Maxident album intro if you haven't seen it already. They just spend half an hour talking about how they view the concept of love and it made me so emotional and proud of them.) I would also say that since debuting, he's been catching up on being a kid a little when he's not in leader mode. So yeah. In a sense, he may be a little guarded some times because you /have/ to have a thick skin when you're a leader and get the brunt of the hate comments/scary aspects of being a celebrity, but I think he just has modes and none of them are really fake. In this video, he's in presentation mode (which as you said, he's very good at), but he also has baby mode, silly little guy mode, work mode, sibling mode (he's a terror to any sister figure of his), dad mode, you name it. I will end my essay here 😂

If you’re looking for Chan’s personality through communication, you’re kinda setting yourself up to fail. He’s a caregiver, a provider, he shows his emotions through doing for others more than through words. It does lead to a wall between them and some miscommunication. But, to me it’s sad, the others often comment about his self sacrificing for the group, or falling asleep anywhere because he stays up all night making or arranging tracks, organizing, etc. He’s become a bit of a punching bag sometimes because he doesn’t banter with them as that’s a love language of much of the group. The camera has to go find him in Skz Talker, usually catching him eating because he’s in the background to ensure everything is set up. I’ve actually been really worried about him this past year because it looked like he was self isolating, and for someone who bases his self worth on what he can do for others…I was concerned. As Skz leader, Bang Chan is self assured and confident, as Bang Chan, just Bang Chan, he’s not at all. But there have been some incidences that gave me hope that he finally broke down and spoke to some of the Kids about it. There were two lines in the 3Racha Talker when Hyunjin, LeeKnow, and Seungmin were injured post car accident half way around the world, and BC, CB, and Han had to last minute step in instead of the group. Bang Chan was probably stressed out of his mind with the injuries, last minute set list, travel, he usually makes special changes to the tracks for performances and didn’t have to time, and Binnie, in his usual loud fashion playfully yells at Chan about whether everything is ready, and Chan just stops…and says, “see, that would phase me” and Binnie, always aware of the camera, keeps the playful, loud yell, but bows to him and apologizes. I’ve never seen him stand up for himself in such a way, and the words spoke of a previous conversation. I’ve seen Seungmin step in and redirect or flat out shut down some of the taking over the group does to shield Chan, too. So I think there’s progress, but I think you’re gonna miss a lot, if you’re just listening to the words and not looking for actions as well.

@@iyo4869 apologies, it wasn’t my intention. And like I said, I think something has changed for the better, he looks better, health-wise, seems stronger in his sense of self, and I’ve seen him step forward more rather than shrink into the background the way he was earlier in the year. I think he spent so much time shielding Skz, building their confidence, and trying to protect them from everything, that he took those hits himself, and let it land, affecting his confidence, and now that the rest of the team is standing on their own, there was a bit of an “empty nest” feeling going on, where they didn’t need the protection and misconstrued his assistance (because he needed it for himself to provide as well as helping them) as him not trusting them to do for themselves, and it caused a bit of a schism. But what I’m seeing looks like they’ve gotten past some of that, and I’d like to think that he’ll take the effort he put into building them up all those years, into building himself up in the same manner. Or better yet, that they build him up the way he did for them. He deserves nothing but happiness. Again, sorry for the sadness, but I think we’ll see some really good things in the future.

I feel like Chan is the member who keeps his personal life and idol life the most separate. He gets the most hate than any other members because he is the leader. When he first debuted he already got a lot of hate so I think he's more guarded than anything. I think he learned early on to keep something's for himself and not give it all away, which I personally think is a good thing. Fans sometimes want the most authenticity from an idol, but many of them can't handle that and become really hateful, as we saw when Chan's room ended.

As many others have said Chans room is really the best way to get to know Chan but I'll give my 2 cents on the matter anyway. I've always resonated with him a lot because while it doesn't show on camera often he is a very deep person. Occasionally in Chans room he'd make a joke about/make light of very serious topics. He has spoken a few times on how he was in a dark place before stray kids came into his life and has hinted several times that he might not have been here if it weren't for them. He has a few songs that are written with his experiences as the theme Social path and I hate to admit being the main two. 3racha's predebut albums also had several songs that spoke of mental health struggles '42' being the main one. Chans very clearly cares a lot about stray kids and people in general sometimes seemingly to the point of his own detriment. I have noticed though that recently he's gotten a lot more playful and more willing to be less 'on' in front of the camera which makes my Bang Chan biased heart happy.

I agree wyou@2:33 that sometimes you don't get Bang Chan's 'real' personality because he always seems cognizant of his role as leader - couple that with how long he trained (he basically grew up at JYP) and how long he's been a leader now, and it's probably hard for him to drop the persona. Also when he's chosen to show some more of his vulnerable side (Chan's Room), sometimes he's suffered for his openess. One of the reasons I like these intros so much is they show us some of the hard work and dedication it takes for SKZ to succeed the way they do. They didn't 'magically' show up. They have talent but they all work so hard and sweat the details, including improving their communication skils. They were already so good pre-debut/debut, but over the last 6 years they have grown exponentially.

many Stays might not agree with me, but personally I think there's so much that Chan didn't show when he is on camera, especially when he is putting his leader mode on. it doesn't mean he's being pretentious or anything but he is being really careful. which make me sad. part of the reason why i'm stanning him is because i think he need people to tell him and remind him that he is loved the most, and so i want to be that person for him. i feel like he gave his love to much to others that he forgot to keep some for himself. so yes i totally understand and get it when you say you didnt know about him much. that's why people loves and attached with chan's room. there he shed his 'stray kids' persona and just being bang chan/ chris, and people can feel that sincerity through that weekly lives. i guess if you wanna learn about him, maybe you can watch the old episodes of chan's room, but that's 200+ episodes to catch up! lol

I think you actually nailed everyone so well. With Chan I also feel that same sense of wanting to cheer for him, but definitely feel like he has a very strong wall up because of his sense of responsibility and the pressure he must put on himself to be good and noble from having to mature at such a young age, so even when he's being open or playful it still feels like he is playing a role. The exception to that is when he is with just 3racha, I can see him relax a little bit more because he sees those two as more of his peers, and he seems to be genuinely playful and allows himself to have fun. And I do think the sense of meaning that seems to seep into all SKZ songs is hugely related to his own search for something--a thing that he doesn't even know what it is, yet. I don't know if you've listened to his song "I hate to admit" but I feel it's one of the times he's been truly vulnerable publicly.

The word play they do...is next level, and shows the genius of them. The only "kpop" group I listen is Stray Kids. For me, their music is brilliant and really resonates with me. I actually found them when I was in a dark place in life, and I devoured all their songs, and every video, and it helped me find joy and happiness in my life again. And this is coming from someone who is alot older than your average Stay lol

You have to remember that both Felix and BangChan are Australian so he’ll be way more expressive than the other members that are more in line with Korean culture standards.

Very smart And handsome But it doesn't seem like He's looking for that recognition. Very strong and in my opinion. The most relatable I Phil and he really loves his stay his fans. He wants to make Them happy❤

I understand why Matt question Bang Chan real personality. We see Bang Chan as Stray Kids Leader or an idols. But we never see the real Bang Chan known as Christopher Bang. I think Matt is saying that Bang Chan is portray himself as a idols who is a leader of Stray Kids who tried to make a image as Bang Chan the star and not Chris. Bang Chan has to two personality like other K-pop idols. Idols supposed to act as their giving images from their company or play a role in their image to get people to engage with them. Yes, It’s fake but people do it get what they want. I think Bang Chan is playing the game in the industry. He been in the industry for a long time. He know that the industry are full of snake and backstabber. He has to put up his image to protect himself and his members. I think he doesn’t want his members to go through the thing he went through in his past.

I see a lot of people talking about being surprised that he can't read up on Chan very well. But I can agree with him. When I was first a stay I'll be honest, I don't like him all that much. I was getting into it because of Felix and Hyunjin. I thought Chan looked weird. But as I got further in my journey I slowly fell in love with his personality and his looks so much. His talents. We also got to keep in mind that we may understand Chan more because we are similar personalities with him and we watch A LOT of videos about Stray kids. Whether it's analysis videos (such as this), skz code videos, theory videos, performance videos, meme videos, tiktoks, edits and much more. Max probably doesn't watch everything we do as Stays. I'm not saying he isn't into them. I'm just saying he probably doesn't have the same personality as Bang Chan and hasn't seen too many videos about Chan. Also, is Max by chance sees this.... Hi love your videos. As a stay of about two three years. If you do want to try to get a better read on Bang Chan I would highly suggest watching some Channie's room episodes and some videos such as "Bang Chan being done with stray kids" or "Bang Chan being a tired father of seven". I think these would really help you get some more insight on him!

@@tapioooca5182 I meant he looked different from other K-Pop idols that are popular. He was just different. Yes it was mean for me to judge like that, you're right. But I learned from it. From him. I just meant that he looked very different from what I was used to. But I never thought he was ugly if that makes sense.

I am so glad you picked up on Lee Know's playful mischievous nature. Most people think he comes across very cold, or mean. When he's really the opposite. He just has a VERY serious case of RBF, ESPECIALLY in english interviews. Since he has admitted he's given up on learning english as it's too hard, he is in the dark for a lot of those interviews.

I love your comments on Changbin. Comforting is definitely the word I would use to describe him - even at his loudest it comes across to me as trying to comfort his members through changing the energy in the room or taking the attention away to give them space if needed.

In my opinion Stray Kids are their most serious selves during their album intros and when it comes to performance quality. They'll be their energetic and sometimes chaotic selves at award events and other interviews even, but they take their music production and the way they speak about it so seriously

8:45 I think you’re super spot on with lee know, I also think that’s why he gets along so well with Han. Because Han has all this energy as well so they match each others energy and give and take when one is low on the energy. Like you said, he wants to have fun but he wants to share that fun 10:59 omg hahah just what I said 😂 I guess it really is easy to see their special bond
