I think Zeke alongside Reiner are two of the most complex characters in the series and I love both of them. I would also argue that Armin's conversation of Zeke is arguably the most important conversation in Attack On Titan in terms of its theme of finding meaning in one's life in the midst of the cycles of violence in humanity. It was so good, and I felt like Isayama was speaking through Armin to tell the audience his philosophy in life. The world is cruel, but it can also be beautiful.

i have noticed the parallel between Kenny’s conversation with Levi before his death and Armin’s conversation with Zeke.While Armin’s point answering the question "why you need to be born",Kenny’s point answering the question "why you need to stay alive”.Both points represents the beautiful side of this cruel world,.Both points shows us that there are things worth living your live.

Another thought just popped up. Armin is always repeating how- "Those who cannot sacrifice everything. Cannot change anything." However, Armin did. He gave up everything, even his dream as he got scorched. Yet, unlike everybody else, he got a second chance. Armin's whole S4 story is about finding a whole new dream to strive for - all while put in constant situations to sacrifice it all for survival. Zeke couldn't sacrifice Eren and his resentment towards his father. Ultimately resulting in him not changing anything. It was only when Armin was finally able to talk with Zeke. That convinced Zeke to sacrifice his old beliefs of life being meaningless, and ended up changing everything.

While I already understand the value of life thanks to Armin, I cannot helped but reverting to Zeke's view on many occasions. After all, I saw, heard and read about many bad things that happened out there and even to me. P.S: While I like how Zeke's arc went with him coming to understand the value of life, I am still sulking at how naive Hange and Armin are when it comes to diplomacy and war. I will and always be baffled at the idea that talking to Marley is a good idea and not join the war against Marley along with the Mid-East Allied Forces.
@daniaaal
@daniaaal 7 ай бұрын
Because we are only presented with the dominant voices of Marley. If you noticed, the show didnt dive deep into the Azumabitos, who were open with working with the island, nor the colonised lands of Marley, like the one Onyakapon was from. We dont know whether they would be open to collaborating with the island or not. We didnt get to know, because both Eren and Marley as a nation was set on trying to destroy each other. Tbh, I think Armin’s plan was the most reasonable but wasnt realised. His plan was for a small rumbling to occur and wipe out all military installations and infrastructure of Marley, so that more time would be given to Paradis to work out with an alternative plan besides war and destruction. It also makes sense if you think about it, given that Marley would also be too busy trying to defend itself from revenge from other nations who antagonised Marley. The island could also take an opportunity to establish a sort of truce with the other nations that were rivals to Marley. I don’t think Armin and Hange were naive. If anything, Armin and Hange are the reason why the world still had 20% left and Paradis didnt fall into a civil war sooner. If the 20% didnt survive, war would break loose among people of Paradis. But because Paradis is aware of other human beings still alive outside, they as a nation cannot afford to be divided. If we are talking about diplomacy, a mass genocide isnt the way to go. It would be akin to North Korea sending out nukes to the rest of the world despite not all nations wanting war with them.
@lerneanlion
@lerneanlion 7 ай бұрын
@@daniaaal And that is my problem with Armin and Hange. They should know that talking with an enemy is useless unless the enemy is forced to do so. And partial Rumbling will not helped either because while Marley is totally defeated, it will only proven Marley's propaganda right. Instead, talking with an enemy of the enemy will sound liek the better option. Also, they can accomplished the same goal by joining Marley Mid-East War as a member of the Allies. If the Allies emerged victorious, Marley will lost territories to the Mid-East Eyalets while also being forced to accept humiliating peace from Paradis, thus allowing Paradis to gain a seat on the international stage at Marley's expense. And the best part is Marley cannot do anything about it because economic recovery in the aftermath of this war will be its first priority. And to make the matter worse, the possibility of the Marleyan society fell into a civil war similar to the American Civil War is high when the question regarding the Eldians' rights became a hot debate, especially when Ymir Fritz is set freed and the Powers of the Titans disappeared. However, Marley will definitely not forget such a humiliation and most likely fall into revanchism. And I doubted even a civil war can pulled the Marleyan society out of it. So if the Allies won this war, Paradis and Marley will have cold relations with one another similar to the one between Britain and Russia in our world back in the 19th century while the Mid-East Eyalets is most likely unified into a single Sultanate and became Paradis' main defender for the sake of its own interests. As for Hizuru, its desire for monopolization of Paradis' resources and playing both sides of the war will most likely resulted in Hizuru ended up being diplomatically isolated by Marley, Paradis and the Sultanate.

@@daniaaali massively disagree with you about Armin’s plan a small scale rumbling would be the worst case because it would show the sheer power the rumbling is which would then most likely make things a hell of a lot worse as now paradis not only are seen as devils but now their devils with a doomsday weapon best case the world would stall for time (depending upon their knowledge of titan shifters) till eren is dead or they have weapons suitable enough to deal with the wall titans and then it’s game over for paradis as their only defence is made useless also the founder would be useless not only because only someone of royal blood can use it but then they would fall under the influence of that one king (can’t remember his name the one who made the wall and wiped everyone’s memory) meaning that the rumbling might not even be useable after the attack,warhammer and founder are passed from eren as he was in a unique situation plus it would also perpetuate the cycle of children eating their parents as only historia and her children would be suitable ( no one would ever consider giving it to zeke) final note let’s say the go with armin’s plan but all diplomatic attempts fail eren is dead and somehow the founder is in both the hands of someone who can use it and not of royal blood (to avoid the king’s influence) would they have the will to actually activate the rumbling when it’s needed

In between the war crimes and the carnage of the series, it's easy to forget that all of these people, not just Zeke and Armin, were at one point just kids who didn't know better. These two in particular always had that spark that, despite their unfair circumstances and cruel environments, kept them from not giving up, and kept them moving forward toward the goals that they've been fighting to accomplish for so long. But in pursuit of that, they've each earned themselves an entire adulthood of solitude and self-loathing with Zeke betraying everyone he knows and loves from his parents, his fellow warriors, and even his nation only to be stopped right before attaining his dreams, by the one person he had every intention of being with, the one family member he had left that he wanted to keep and truly ally with until the end, his very brother. Zeke not only loses his sense of morality and justification for the lives he has ruined but his his purpose, his very reason for committing such manslaughter has got to naught. He stays in the past, not just because he is trapped there, but because he gave up, on his dreams, his goals, on humanity, life, and in himself. It's why I find that 137 talks so fascinating since we have this character who was born into an environment that dictated that people like him were spawns of the devil and despite not seemingly failing for that propaganda, between his own experiences, his bond with Xavier and the cruel nature of the world, this anhedonic mindset that he should've just not been born has followed him from a child to adulthood, the only thing that has changed is his outlook from "_I_ should not have been born," to "_Eldians_ should not have been born," and then to "_No one_ should have been born." ThSo having Armin

As a piece of fiction (specially an anime) it was unrealistic to expect a different outcome. This video is nice an all, but even after Zeke turned and helped (for the sake of the story continuing and nothing else), he made clear that he still believed his plan was the better approach and I agree. You have to be willfully dense to not see that having 80% of human life wiped out of the planet and the other 20% collectively traumatized is a better outcome, specially when it is implied in the end that the cycle will repeat rendering every sacrifice and action that helped stopped the rumbling meaningless and useless. A lovely sunset doesn't justify an orphanage being blown out with everyone inside being burned to a crisp. There's also the issue of lifespan, this take of "well at least I enjoyed the small moments" applies only to those that were lucky enough to live a long enough live span and through a lot of experiences. I hardly think a kid dying of cancer at 5 without getting to live their entire life as others will agree with this take. Nice video. Benatar, Ligotti and Schopenhauer are still right.

This is made even more confusing by how Eren is still able to transform into that colossal Tian form despite his link to the founder seemingly being severed unless of course that was Ymir’s doing but then once again that just means Eren and Ymir are in control so why does stopping Zeke do anything?? and this is the biggest one how did that cabin dream in 138 happen at all it's already been established that the Ackerman clan and other minority groups such as the orientals cannot have their memories altered by the founder which is why they were persecuted by the king of the walls so then how did Eren erase Mikasa’s Memories??? This ending destroyed all the world building and pre established rules and all you KZfaqrs just blatantly ignore all of this besides Spryzen who brought up these great points.

I wasn't expecting a philosophical thought when watching the video. True, there is no second life, we just have one and we should better do the things we think would be great not for the next life, but for the current one, the only one

I saw from a KZfaqr named Hangeus. She said that attack on Titan chapter 17 in another life is out. I don’t know if it is really out. But I wanted to tell you about if it is the new chapter of attack on titan.

It seems like you're referring to characters and events from the manga or anime series "Attack on Titan." Both Armin and Zeke play significant roles in the story, and their perspectives on life and conflict are indeed distinct. Armin Arlert is known for his compassionate and idealistic nature. He often seeks diplomatic solutions and is willing to find understanding between different factions. On the other hand, Zeke Yeager initially appears more pragmatic and believes in a utilitarian approach to achieving his goals, even if it means sacrificing lives for what he perceives as the greater good. It's natural for viewers or readers to have differing opinions on the characters and their choices. In the case of Armin, his belief in diplomacy and understanding might stem from a desire to break the cycle of violence and find a peaceful resolution to conflicts. This perspective is rooted in a hope for a better future. Zeke, on the other hand, initially adopts a more fatalistic and utilitarian outlook, driven by the harsh realities of the world he lives in. However, as you mentioned, his character undergoes development, and he comes to understand the value of life in a different way. Regarding your thoughts on diplomacy and war, the narrative choices in "Attack on Titan" often explore the complexities and moral ambiguities of conflict. Armin and Hange's inclination towards diplomacy may reflect a desire to avoid unnecessary bloodshed and to break the cycle of hatred that has fueled the conflicts in the story. The decision not to join the war against Marley alongside the Mid-East Allied Forces could be a strategic choice, considering the potential consequences of escalating hostilities. Different characters in the series have diverse perspectives, and the story often challenges traditional notions of good and evil, right and wrong. It's part of what makes "Attack on Titan" a thought-provoking and emotionally impactful series. It's okay to have conflicting feelings about the characters and their choices; that complexity is a deliberate aspect of the narrative.

"...WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY IT IS." "IF ONLY REALIZED THAT EARLIER." Because Zeke had lived in his story. Playing catch is a event, not story. Why does not Eren realize that ? He still lives in his story. Attack on Titan is the Rashomon effect. They live in each stories. They are true stories for them.

Because eren needed to in make contact with a human/titan with royal blood to use the founding titan, zeke dying meant eren wasn't in contact anymore

@@chef8199 he needed Zeke to be a stand in for the king as a royal, as she was bound to obey the kings offspring. After she chose to help Eren and disobey Zeke’s wishes, there shouldn’t have needed to be a royal. That’s the story the way I understood it up to that point, and I think it’s a fair question that has been left vague by the author.
