I've now watched most of your videos and I can't tell you how much I've learned. I'm a new bowhunter, I have yet to take a deer with my bow, but how much you've helped prepare me for when that happens is second to none. Thank you. Your videos are clear and concise and I, again, could not be more thankful.

Completely forgot I made this comment tbh. It's been amazing so far! I've since taken at least one deer every year and just this year finally got my first good buck. *The mechanical blades stay in place for the most part but if you are calling back and forth>>> **allabout.wiki/7ulz** and walking through the woods, sage brush I recommend you make sure they are all secured before you draw. Also, make sure mechanicals are legal in your state. I'll let others debate over mechanicals or fixed. Accuracy and shot placement are the most important to me and the proof is in my freezer.*

man couldn't agree more about going for the more expensive broadheads. only downside I see is if for whatever reason I may miss whether it be an obstacle or deer jumps the string, something like that. Ok so you're saying you'll save money by buying 100$ broadheads because the cheap 20$ ones break and you lose them and you'll keep having to replace them. Right? But what you weren't thinking about is you said it's likely you'll lose one each year from missing so if you lost 1 of those 100$ broadheads each year you'd be down 100$ after 3 years... if you just bought the 20$ ones and lost/ broke all 3 of them for 3 years in a row you'd only be down 60$.. I just wanted to point that out, otherwise I agree with everything else you said

haven't been hunting in 6-7 years...basically started as a replacement partner for my dad after his buddy passed; the one and only deer I ever harvested was in October 2010...Reflex Growler bow (28" draw, 60lbs draw weight), Dick's Sporting Goods carbon shafts, Slick Trick 1" standard fixed broadheads (steel ferrule, high quality blades); thru-n-thru double lung shot @ 28-30 yds on a 1 1/2 yr old 7 point buck; I lost the arrow...landowner found it several days later; the broadhead was unservicable after hitting exposed rocks on the plateau where I was hunting...tip bent, blades marred w/ cutting edges rolled over; damn good quality head...$40 per 3 pack in 2010; sometimes the strongest heads meet their match!

Bought the Iron Will Wide 100’s. The quality and durability are evident in the craftsmanship. Broadhead quality and performance is THE most important part of your hunting set-up. You wouldn’t buy an expensive rifle and shoot cheap ammo. Same with the investment in your Archery equipment. Sure, cheap equipment can often get the job done. However, cheap broadheads will also be the first thing to fail. There are other areas to cut costs, if needed. Broadheads isn’t one of them.

I certainly can't say that I would spend a million bucks on the set of broadheads but I do believe that you get what you pay for. I bought some of the Carbon Express Mechanicals and tried them because they were cheap. I think they are a great compromise between high-dollar and poor quality.

Nicely presented and very well articulated..Each hunter is different and their thought process has to be respected..What has 50+ years taught me? One of your replies advocates BISHOP ARCHERY,.So do I ..Think about it my fellow hunters..Would you rather have a 400 gr or 700gr impacting your deer.Once you have loosed your arrow you have no control what happens afterwards . 99% of the deer are either attempting to jump the string or better yet they are in the process or moving , which brings us to penetration.. Would you rather have a slower / heavier arrow or a faster/lighter arrow?? It will be more devastating in my opinion once the heavier arrow has gained entrance..Why?? Kinetic Energy.. Think about it . Possibly less blood trail.. This company will replace your broadhead..$$ well spent !!

In your video you show a big lack of understanding of both materials and manufacturing processes. You make aluminum sound like it's crap. Yet some types of aluminum are much stronger than many steels and I have shot aluminum heads and had them take very hard hits with no damage. I shot Thunderheads for many years and went through both shoulder blades of a buck with zero damage (70 lb bow). It was still straight, tip was needle sharp and blades in perfect shape. Even sharper than many other brands are right out of the box. I don't think I have ever damaged a Thunderhead on any deer I have shot. There are other aluminum heads as tough or tougher out there as well. A lot of times it is not the quality of materials or quality control that is the problem. It is the design. A fixed blade like the Thunderhead for example is just a stronger design than most expandable heads. The efficiency of the manufacturing process can have a huge impact on cost too. There are several things that go into a quality head and even a head with a lifetime warranty may be inexpensive to produce but manufacturers know that people often will not send in a head if it gets damaged or that the cost of an occasional replacement makes it well worth the cost if they jack their price up high enough. An expensive head dose not automatically mean the best quality head or a better head than a much less expensive head. However, if you prefer to follow that logic I suggest you check out Bishop broad heads. They are Awesome heads that you will never damage. They are $250 for three.

I’d spend $35 at the most for a 3 pack of broadheads. I’d rather use a new, albeit cheaper, broadhead each time I go for a shot rather than risking a mechanical failure or poor penetration from a previously used and serviced broadhead. You can get some pretty damn cheap Chinese clones that perform quite well, and you don’t have to fret if you miss you shot and lose it, or you inadvertently hit a rock or something else hard enough to damage the broadhead. With how expensive bow hunting can be, spending only $100 for broadheads enough to last you 5 years is actually a great deal considering some 3 packs can easily run $60 or more (or even $99...yikes)...just my 2 cents

If you accidentally hit the stone by an expensive broadhead, will you feel sorry in same way as if you hit the stone by the cheap one? Moreover, when you are using an expensive broadhead several years you never be confident in condition of it. It is better to use cheap one and probably throw it into the garbage after a couple hunts. Advantages of this way is that you every time you hunt will be confident in your broadhead

@averagejackarchery
@averagejackarchery 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! Is the Defiant a great bow? Yes. Is it a great first bow if you're going to drop over $1k on it brand new with no accessories? Well, unless you're sitting on a pile of expendable cash it might not be the best option. There are a TON of great bows that are cheaper and might be better options. I see it every year: people buy thousands of dollars worth of archery equipment and then end up selling it within 5 years because they found they don't have the time or truly aren't as into it as they thought they would be. So if you like it and want it, go for it! Buy I always try to push new archers into more mid-priced equipment to start so they don't end up in a monetary hole if they find out they don't like it. Good luck!

Truth be told a $250 Parker Eagle will hunt and kill anything a $1000+ bow will with no increase in difficulty. Plus it has a lifetime warranty. Throw on a sight with good fibers like a Pro Hunter Green monster, a whisker biscuit, a quiver, peep, and let it rip. Archery is the biggest gimmick driven market on the planet. Most of it revolves around talking smack with your buddy's about your setup. Just like guns.

Take a look at the line of Mission bows by Mathews. I bought one of these for my wife to introduce her to the world of archery and bowhunting, and those bows perform extremely well at a very reasonable price. Mission bows carry the same lifetime warranty as the Mathews bows as well. Hoyt’s are certainly great bows, but I’d recommend something less expensive for your very first bow. Once you develop your form and skill, then I’d advise upgrading to a more advanced model, so that way you can purchase something that fits your preferences and shooting style. No sense in dropping over $1000 for a bare bow when you aren’t even sure what you features you need or not,

One more point.i highly doubt if u have a mishap and loose a broadhead ,that they keep sending you broadheads over a bad shot or whateber the case may be.now if u loose a $30 or $40 broadhead your not gonna hate yourself 4 ever and make it that much more stressful trying to keep good form with no mistakes,like flinching or torquing your bow cuz your scared to death of loosing a outrageously exspensive broadhead.just sayin.i have enough crap to worry about when shooting.

The materials used for those broadheads do not justify $300 for 3 there's much higher quality broadheads for a lot less money the best broadheads are CNC machine out of high-quality carbon steel and they're not $100 for 3 they have much more competitive price range and maybe $50 for three

No. For that little mount of money, don’t worry about it. Buy the less expensive broad heads and have a great hunting season. If a person losses a 30.00 dollar broadhead it sucks. You loose a 1.99 broadhead it’s not so bad. I’ve shot a lot of deer and never lost one. Rather I was using a 30.00 broadhead or a 1.99 broadhead. It all depends how much money you want to loose.

Okay, so you buy a pack of 3. 33 bucks each, lose one arrow, which happens easily. Over 3 or 4 years it would be stupid easy to lose 3 arrows. With those there goes 100 bucks in broadheads. Theres a reason most broadheads are under 40 bucks bc they get the job done and do it very well. 100 bucks for 3 is ridiculous

It's also better to lose a cheaper arrow then an expensive arrow. Finding a happy medium seems better to me than spending maximum amounts on certain items. We all have to go with what we can. What would be magic number would be to find where your spending the amount to get the job done correctly and humanly other than buying high end crap so you can show people how cool you are cause you have the best. This is what seems to drive a lot of the hunting world. Look at me, ain't I great!!!.

Terminal performance is equal to accuracy. An accurate broadhead that fails is a fail...for the deer and you. There are choices to give you BOTH accuracy and performance at impact. Don't sacrifice either.

Hm, why not buy broadheads from china? The most are made out of stainless steel and cost between 1-3 Dollar a piece... classic broadhead and 2-3 blade design broadheads... only downer is the long delivery time. But they are so cheap, i order 2-4 different types and then 5-10 pieces each... but 99 dollars for 3 broadheads... thats ... expensive... and i am sure the animal that get shot does not appreciate that you used a higher priced maybe better Broadhead... it will die... so or so. It depends mainly on your hit ... if you hit a deer with a cheap china broadhead into the heart or lungs... it will die... if you hit the deer into a leg or the tail.. with a expensive broadhead... it will suffer...

Realistically are you REALLY going to go back to the same broadhead you used last year, after another years worth of new gadgets was created? There are always people building and designing better "mouse traps". The most important consideration with a broadhead should be whether it is good enough to accomplish the hunt you are on or about to go on, not whether it will still be usable the following year or 5 years later. One more thing, one of those broadheads had a very dull point. You should consider regrinding or modifying that blade, so that it does have a point. A dull point seriously reduces your penetration...
