Anbernic RG28XX might be my new favourite emulation device for handheld use. It has capable emulation, is SUPER portable and even has HDMI-out capabilities. All for a cheap price. Here at Geek Goo: goaff.pro/hpcsbb

Thanks for the review. There are so many of these now, that it's hard to keep up. I've got an RG351V, which is fine for the games I play with it. Don't really see the need for another one of these kinds of consoles until they get a lot more powerful. Maybe would have gone for the Arc-D (that Saturn looking one) if it was a bit more powerful, but for now I'm happy with what I have. So wake me up when the sub €200 range can do proper PS2 emulation.

Curious about which one you had before the cockrocket that you sent back because it was shit. I have a RG35XXH and I love it (it has twin sticks in addition ) which allows it to play all the games it emulates.

RG353V, emulation was bad, battery was terrible, wouldn't charge properly. It had twin sticks too, but couldn't emulate any console acceptably that used them. The OS was needlessly confusing. HDMI out only worked 10% of the time. Just so many small issues that would have made the video constant moaning. The only good thing was the touchscreen. Which only was used on the second OS function which I hated.

Im always nervous about build quality for these things, it's my primary concern with these retro emulators, last thing I want is something coming off on my hand.....

The build quality on these things are perfectly fine and will last you ages unless you're unable to hold an egg without crushing it. Anbernic, Miyoo, Powkiddy, etc. are usually decent enough. It's the cheaper no-name ones that you have to avoid.

Anbernic build quality is excellent. Go for a metal design model if you're really worried but honestly this will be 100% fine.
