ANC slumps to 37% in SRF poll, Cronje outlines what may lie after May 29

Polling results released today by the Social Research Foundation show a continued slide in support for SA’s ruling political party. SRF chairman Dr Frans Cronje says the poll’s conclusions on the impact of Jacob Zuma’s MKP are consistent with what has been reported in other recent polls. The newcomer’s current 13% slice has established it as SA’s third biggest political party behind the ANC and Democratic Alliance (25%). Cronje outlines the possible alternatives for politicians, and by extension all South Africans, in the unlikely event that these figures are held in the next 49 days. He spoke to BizNews editor Alec Hogg.

@wlk2408 Sadly, dependence on the ANC is a fallacy. The ANC is not the government. The government provides social welfare, not the ANC. The ANC purposefully creates confusion in this area, and it works for them. The irony is if the ANC remains in power, government's capacity to provide social welfare will erode further, and these ANC loyalists may end up losing their grants due to the country deteriorating fiscal position. Rural SA is dragging this country into the abyss.

Living was affordable during his tenure as president,I was employed and I could afford to live and take my family on holidays. Now I’m making ends meet with the current president and I can’t afford holidays no more. So the question still stands what did Zuma do.

The only reason the DA seems competent is because you are measuring them against the ANC and have zero external references. They're globalists and have zero interest in securing a sustainable future for the Western Cape. They're probably upset that MK are in the running because the primary reason people vote for them is the threat of the ANC taking power.. We need a populist Milei type and the Western Cape needs to break away from SA entirely. The best options for that are the RP or by voting for FF+.

These polls are very unrealistic in KZN. DA is shown to have more support than the IFP yet bi-elections show otherwise. Bi-elections show IFP leading in most places, MK Party following that and then ANC. EFF pops up at 3rd now and then inter-changing with DA at the bottom... I always wonder if these polls speak on emotions, social media or high possibilities driven by versatile data collection. ANC will and has dropped in KZN. I only speak of KZN and not the whole country because the MK Party has mixed reception in other Provinces as seen as another Zulu National Party whereas the DA and EFF seem to always shock us even after all these polls on real performance on voting day and hence unpredictable as well. Coalitions will definitely be the order of the year, I have no reason to doubt the polls outside KZN and WC

True IFP has seen a resurgence here in Jozini KZN, I'm persuaded to vote that by my Zulu friends nephew I live in the community at a project I started long ago. I see IFP as the best choice but none of the choices will do anything for me based on my experience doing things for community and the attitude of authorities back to me so I won't vote what's the point I've with very little basically homeless created so much here I would be the highest contributer in my community if I was Zulu but because I'm white even now treated well as I am, I still am treated like a foreigner who has no rights to earn his own way like anyone else.

Polls mean little,it’s about getting the people to the polling stations on the day of the election and that’s what the ANC know how to do .They transport 6 mil to polling stations and give them a T-shirt and food .What are the MPC doing ?

I wonder how these research study is conducted. The DA is not getting above 21% and i dont need a flawed research study to tell me that. My view is ANC will get 42- 43% , MK 9%, DA 19% , EFF 15% and the balance will go to smaller parties.
