Following a weekend marked by harsh criticism from Naspers-owned media outlets and disparaging comments from the DA’s leader, Patriotic Alliance president Gayton McKenzie is advocating for harmony among opposition parties. The influential political figure points to the irony of this discord between opposition political parties whose prime objective should be unseating the ANC on May 29. Undisturbed by the controversy surrounding his efforts to enlist a DA councillor in its razor-thin majority Saldanha council - citing a ‘leaked’ hour-long recorded conversation whose content he firmly stands behind - McKenzie emphasizes the need for opposition leaders to exhibit humility and unite to dethrone the ANC. BizNews’ Alec Hogg sat down with McKenzie for an exclusive insight into his perspective - and the surprise offer of an olive branch to his persecutor-in-chief.

How?? The PA is actually keeping the ANC and EFF in power in Municipalities and Metros across the country, particularly JHB, Ekurhuleni and Nelson Mandela Bay!! If it were not for the PA, the ANC would have lost power in these big and veryvimportsnt Metros! What a thought provoking interview. I watched the latest two videos with Gayton McKenzie twice. I couldn't fathom why Rob Hersov was promoting him with all his unprofessional rantings and railings against others. Have to admit I have more than a glimmer of understanding now. A powerful discussion, and Mr McKenzie makes some very astonishing claims that could well be true. This one--on-one discussion made me think there is more to the man than I thought. The "mistake" of Knysna still sits very badly, but maybe just maybe it gave him a wake-up call about coalition with ANC. He's dead in the water with everyone going into the future if he allows more of that, as I'm sure he understands. He seems to associate his decision to give Knysna to the ANC with his respect for how Malema 'strategically' gave power to the DA back in 2016 , But the devastation to lives of hard working citizens of Knysna, who did not deserve to be the butt of his personal politicking for power, was horrible. To admire and emulate Malema is a fool's pact. He leaves chaos and destruction in his wake. And in Knysna, Gayton McKenzie, in doing the same sort of politicking, did the same. It demonstrated being on-the-take to wield power selfishly and irresponsibly. He may not be on the take financially, which is hugely admirable in our current political climate, but on the take for power is not admirable either. But this man has more heart than I credited him for I think. It is very sad that our brown people have been so neglected and overlooked and very good that they have a champion in Gayton McKenzie because I think he means business. I think the DA could have done more for everyone if ANC weren't bussing in people, and so much semi-gration and flooding into WC of job-seekers, and Pretoria didn't hold the purse strings. But I think he sees more clearly how much his people have, and are, suffering, and he is a very strong voice for them now. If this man has spoken truly in this interview, and the heart I now saw is for real, then he is sorely needed in South Africa. But he can't do it alone. He needs the MPC as much as they seem to need him. What a fabulous platform BizNewsTv has become.. Really appreciate the exposure Alec Hogg and team give to raw truth seeking. This interview is a prime example. I really hope it proves true. Something in me believes him. Interesting times.

100% don’t agree with how this man conducts himself. He’s more concerned about taking wards and having seats and working with whomever he can without actually serving the people in the PA’s constituency. It is not possible to defeat MK/EFF/ANC in these upcoming elections. That combination will get a 2/3 majority in the national election. Moonshot will get less than 25%, this year.

I agree this must be done but the problem is that 40 percent will vote anc, 15 to 20 percent eff and 10 yo 15% mk. This is simple maths its impossible to unseat these 3 if they form a coalition. Think of it like this unseating anc is like putting out the fire with a co2 extinguisher but one of the mpc parties or even pa is like attempting to reduce the intensity of the fire with water where as mk eff and is like fanning the flames. There are 3 paths forward and the best path is highly unlikely while the middle ground is most likely while the eff mk anc is like 35% likely. So I dunno man, to me it's gonna be a coalition either way and anc will be in it and that's just a fact I'm afraid so. We just need to stop dreaming and wake up to this reality... fear not it's not all doom and gloom though as the anc really doesn't want to partner with mk and eff. I guess it's just a matter of vote and hope for the best

Hi Vanessa...I was born in Kensington. .On the day of voting last year I wasn't going to vote at all but when my son phoned me late afternoon to go vote as it's important I went and found myself voting for the Patriotic Alliance 💚 and to date I don't regret it as I'm totally convinced by The Holy Spirit that Gayton and his leaders will make history post May 29th. God is definitely using Gayton ...he has integrity..always honest and a passion for those struggling families. He is humble, down to earth...and friendly. Vote for the P.A. 💚🙏

I think that's a bit unfair to BizNewsTv. If they are to be considered non-partisan, then by default they should be a fair platform for anyone to have their say as is relevant to the issue at hand. Being selective with their platform will mean they'll just become yet another echo chamber. The internet and social media are full of those already. I don't trust Mr McKenzie either because his actions don't match his words, but that doesn't mean he should be prevented from speaking.
