All things being equal, the thing I noticed was the lack of huge billowing clouds of smoke which to me is a good thing, I think I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for the review Stan.

I have been using this stuff for the past year. I needed a cutting fluid that does not smell because I work in a laboratory environment. I also mix it down with water so it flows better. Works AWESOME. Best tapping fluid ever. NO smell.

I'm in. As others have mentioned, I really like the fact that you won't get smoked out of your shop......especially with winter coming on, when we like to have our doors closed. Thanks for your efforts, Stan.

Hey Stan, Excellent product review, sold me on giving it a try around the shop! Any manufacturer willing to give the gang discounts on the product is a winner in my book! Nicely done, thank you for taking the time and for sharing! Ray

Now you've experienced why I love Anchor Lube. I'm glad you like it. I love your review of this fine product and a big thank you to AnchorLube. You did a great job testing it. Hat's off to you Stan.

Stan, One thing that I did notice is that on all your machining with the various metals using that Anchor lube product is that there was minimal fumes / smoke coming off from the cutting as opposed to the Rapid Tap, so that would be a plus if you are doing a lot of machining and don't want to be breathing oil fumes all day. regards John MD

After I saw your first video on the product I got a free sample. So far it has worked well for me and when the sample runs out I will be buying some more. Good deal on the discount!

Stan, Your review encouraged me to open my sample and use it. It works great for me, so I decided to order a gallon. One thought that I had for delivery to the stuff is to use one of the spill masters, and keep the lid on it when not in use. Thanks for the review!
@samgatoo-firth71759 жыл бұрын
Sam from Anchor here. You are 100% correct. Being that the product is water based and biodegradable it is important to keep the lid on when not in use. It can dry out otherwise or even spoil. However, stored under proper conditions and sealed it does have a two year shelf life.

Got a sample of this stuff for my shop at home per your suggestion; as a result we started using the stuff in one of our production areas in the line at work. Thanks for the heads up.

Hi Stan, For someone that doesn't call himself a machinist, you've got me fooled! Your knowledge of metallurgy and seeing you in action proves otherwise!! Thank you for your review, as a newb to machining, I'm open and always trying to learn, and you make that possible! I will be contacting Anchor Lube. Thanks, Razor!

Hey Stan, Tried calling the 800 number only to find it's not working. Got the info from their website, endorsed you, and my gallon will be shipped Monday.

just a thermal imaging tip/ir gun tip. shiny stuff reflects ir. if you point an ir gun at a window you'll actually read the reflected temp of yourself or the wall behind you. you need to account for emmisivity, but you can't calibrate those guns.. if you put electrical tape on the piece and measure the temp of the tape you'll get a more accurate reading as the emmisivity of black electrical tape is about .95 in this case that would be hard but if you ever use that gun to try to get accurate numbers use some tape! it helps trust me.

Cool Review And Great vid as Always. I also Noticed It Smokes Less. I Have a Small shop And Rap a Tap Smokes me Out.
@horneygeorgeforge70799 жыл бұрын
I think that was a fair comparison between the two. I too asked for a free sample ans found it works better than the cheep stuff I bought a week before your first video.. if it works as well diluted for like your band saw that would be a big plus.
@JF_Fabrications9 жыл бұрын
Stan, I work at a metal stamping plant and we use anchor lube for some of our heave stainless steel parts. We dilute it with water to apply it in a semi flood type application. What we have found is that if left on the stamping dies it causes severe corrosion on all of the steel components of the tools. I would advise against using it in a flood application on a machine tool.

Thank you Stan. Ordered some up.....I want to see how it does on annular cutters out of position. It looks "clingy" enough....I've been using a stick lubricant for drilling in vertical surfaces, it would be nice to just carry around one product for drilling, tapping etc. Thanks, Sean.

Very good review. Interesting ideas about dispensing it particularly if one could get a slightly longer fine point on the fold down cap version so that one could be a little more precise about where it was being directed to. What is cleanup like off work pieces, the machines or in "awkward spots" as it doesn't appear to flow and move once applied. Can it be washed off good enough to paint for example e.g. with water or perhaps brake cleaner, rubbing alcohol?
@ShadonHKW9 жыл бұрын
Hi Dan, It's water based, so it simply washes off with tap water, if left on the machine or vice overnight, no signs of rusting. The corrosion test was part of my review, but the video was running long so it landed on the cutting room floor, sorry.

Hi Stan... Nice review/test, I got my sample and I like the product and really like the non oil residue... ATB Chuck

Cleans up nicely with soapy water! No reason for any shop to continue with the traditional mess of working with oils.

Please note that IR thermometers don't work well on clean metal surfaces. Due to the reflectiveness, they show lower than the actual temp. I tested on a shiny stainless steel pot with boiling water and it showed close to room temperature.

I noticed that the Anchor Lube is less smokey when heated. That in itself is a bonus in my book. What does it smell like? Is it bearable?
@ShadonHKW9 жыл бұрын
Hi Duncan, Very little odor, I neglected to mention that during this video, but it can be a big issue in closed shops.

If a magnetic tray can be found with a plastic lid or other type of lid which would seal the air out, that might work if you didn't want to clean it every day and it wouldn't dry out sitting in it between uses.

For dispensing Anchorlube use one of those brush top metal cans like the ones for PVC cleaner and cement.

Hi Stan, Most noticable difference from here is the lack of smoke, and I'm anxious to hear about what a viewer mentioned that the diluted solution would cause corrosion. So far it's positive. How about Canadian shipping conditions? I'll keep tuned in, Pierre
@samgatoo-firth71759 жыл бұрын
Sam from Anchor here. There should be no corrosion caused by diluting Anchorlube. However, if it is not eventually rinsed off it could cause some corrosion since it is water based after an extended amount of time. But certainly not while working with the part. As for Canada shipping, it is available through Fastenal throughout the country and Try Hard distributing as well. If you are looking to order in larger quantities pl;ease do not hesitate to contact us at sales@anchorlube.com.

Nice and precise review Stan, I'm going to order me a sample because I especially like the no smoke factor. I enjoyed the heat transfer differences, and I guess the only question I might have is since it doesn't smoke, what does it smell like? I know this house has been smelling like bubblegum the last week as I dried the last of our melons...you need to email me your address so I can get you a pack. Dad is having friends and I don't want him giving it all away, hee hee. JK, yours is already name tagged and labeled Aloha...Chuck

Hi Chuck, it smells like green wax (mold release) just a faint vanilla kind of smell, nothing objectionable, I promise.

Sam from Anchor here. We add a small amount of almond sent to the product. Very mild faint odor. Nothing offensive.

Hey Stan, I hope you know that IR gun is not very good on shiny, reflective parts. Emissivity of stainless varies by a factor of 10 depending on how polished the material is, so the number is unreliable. Also, for best results the IR thermometer should be perpendicular to the surface measured, and don't forget the target spot size printed on the side (the laser dot does nothing).
@ShadonHKW9 жыл бұрын
stefantrethan We were using it comparatively in most cases, all things being equal, it didnt matter what the numbers were, only that we were able to compare an average number at the end. Thanks for the view and comment.
@stefantrethan9 жыл бұрын
Shadon HKW You are comparing random numbers, you might as well make them up. With a shiny surface the IR thermometer sees the reflection rather than the actual part, so you are measuring the shop roof, light fixture, your body, etc. instead of the part. If you don't believe me, take a piece of bare metal, and use it as a mirror in front of the infrared thermometer to measure different objects. Or paint one half, heat it up evenly, and measure both sides. Again, I'm not talking a small error here. I'm talking arbitrary numbers with no correlation to actual surface temperature, so no comparative measurement possible. I often use a thermal imaging camera at my day job. A piece of aluminum is just like a mirror, you can see yourself in it with the thermal camera. The infrared thermometer is no different, just a one pixel camera. I believe you are a man who wants to use his tools right, so please, look into this again. It's not a waste of time, especially considering your business.
