...and then we held hands is a co-operative abstract game about finding balance. To win, the two players must complete emotional objectives and reach the center of the board. The players take turns trying to fulfill the current common emotional objective by discarding emotion cards to move from node to node.

I saw the print and play a while back, and it just didn't portray the theme at all. Seeing it like this really does make a massive difference, and I am tempted to get it. Now if only I could find someone to have arguments and then hold hands with...!

Really well-managed review of the game that is not that easy to understand at first. It seems to be a super custom-flavor game. Love or hate it.

This game looks awesome, but the board etc looks way smaller than the one I've seen in other reviews.

I agree. I saw it played via Rahdo Runsthrough & the board seemed better sized. On this one the stone practically covers the bordering dots on their emotional balance line. Maybe the markers just need to be smaller... Also, the other version did not have any pictures. More importantly, there were no argument cards.

Thanks for this! I was looking for some two-player games to pick up, and I think this one will fit the bill nicely.

+Brent Jans (Renaissance Gamer) Most of the gaming I do is with my wife. If you're looking for another card game, check out Onirim, Red 7 or 7 Wonders Duel. For board games, we like Suburbia, Caverna, Carcasonne, Takenoko, Smallworld, Catan, and Ticket To Ride. Probably in that order. Other than Onirim, the other games were chosen because they scale well to 3+ players.

I just bought Patchwork which is a 2 player game where you build a quilt using puzzle pieces which you have to buy with buttons. The pieces are similar to that of Blokus if you've ever played or seen that game.

After the first player enters the center, is he allowed to change perspective?

I have to say, the theme (and title to an extent) really put me off. But after seeing the mechanics involved, not only does playing the game seem fun, but those mechanics actually work with the theme in great way. My only concern for the game is still that name, it will probably put a lot of gamers off at first.

I wonder if the designers had bowls of weed, a lot of tie dye, black light posters, and incense when they worked on it?

I heard it was designed in Malta which is a small independent nation state in the center of the Mediterranean in Europe and is the EU’s smallest member state. Looking at the map of Europe, Malta lies just 93 km (58 miles) South of Sicily (Italy) in Southern Europe and roughly 300 km (186 miles) North from the North African coast.

It feels odd to me that a game about relationships doesn't allow for communication between the players.

Yeah that's true, but from what I've seen I think it works because in order to win you have to be paying attention to what the other person is doing and what their emotions are on the table. So you have to be in tune with each other. A big tenuous possibly, but kind of works.

+Robert Mair But that is the whole point, isn't it? To rely on other forms of communication and get you more in touch with the other player without verbal communication.
