Heyy Anders, PB Djarum have also released a few podcasts where Liliyana Natsir (Host) has a really insightful chat with current and ex players (e.g. Praveen Jordan, Melati, Tontowi Ahmad etc). But unfortunately it's all in Indonesian so automatically it restricts the audience. As a badminton fan, the content is very fascinating to listen to! The fact you guys are doing it in English is awesome and it has opened this chat to international viewers. Thanks man, you've done a great job so far. P.S. For anyone interested in the PB Djarum podcast, I'd be more than happy to send a request to PB Djarum so that I can personally translate it to English and attach the subs to the videos. Depends on how many likes this comment gets. Thanks all.

As an advocate for growing badminton, I would love to hear your inputs on a few topics: 1. How to make badminton reach wider Western audiences (because honestly, there is where the money comes from) 2. How to make it more competitive because the win-loss ratio between higher ranked players and lower ranked players are so huge, which makes it less surprising to watch as compared to ball based sport such as tennis

Thank you guys for the podcast. I think it is a great idea. I am a fan of badminton and I have some topic suggestions: badminton conditionioning (invite your conditional coach?), psychological preparation (invite a psychological preparator?), discussion about badminton culture in the world (e.g. Denmark vs China vs North America?), discussion with badminton players (e.g. Axelsen and/or Peter Gade, discussion about the life of a pro badminton player, discussion about the legends (Lin Dan, Lee Chong Wei, Peter Gade, Taufik Hidayat), the evolution of badminton (e.g. how much better are players nowadays compared to 10-20 years ago), badminton players styles, talking with a pro player about his life and how badminton changed his life, injuries and how to avoid them.

I actually like the build up of tension in the current scoring system. I also don’t think that badminton is a fleeting sport and when you change channel and see badminton and think that you’ll give it a watch and amaze at how exciting it is. It’s a niche sport and that’s it in my eyes.
@harukrentz435
@harukrentz435 3 жыл бұрын
I think the current scoring system is still the best. Its not too long and not too short either. I remember watching badminton games in early 2000's with the old 15 point system. 3 sets of a Man Double's match could last till 3 hours. Not a good way if you want to introduce badminton to new viewers.

THIS PODCAST IS SO GOOD !!! I hope this goes on ^^ Good job. do the athletes have a say in what their country will vote for? idea for the podcast's name: The Badcast (I think you said that in a previous vlog) to me the 3 sets of 21 is great. it helps to compare players across generations (in a good way). 5-5 is exciting to me cause i wanna know who will take the intervals. the length of the match, according to me is not as fun if it lasts less minutes ^^' (spectator pov ofc) there may be a decrease in technique development during the match itself.

I can tell you that tennis badly needs a new scoring system. Federer had to withdraw from the QF of the French Open because his body couldn't take it anymore after a 4 hour 4th round match. Meanwhile, table tennis matches are too brief, only lasting like 20 minutes a lot of the time. I think badminton has found a good middle ground.

Tennis should just change to best of 3 instead of best of 5 for men. Women play best of 3 and get the same amount of prize money so its only fair if men play 3 sets also

To me, it’s the charm of the Grand Slams in tennis that the games are generally longer by the men. But I can see why the average viewer wants shorter games. Agree about Federer, but also he’s 39 so of course his stamina isn’t what it used to. I agree about the deuce system though, could easily be removed / revised

The member associations that vote on changes in the scoring system, don't consult the players (competitive players or recreational players). I think the majority of the public would be against the proposed scoring system. The results of the vote are misleading, they make it appear as if the majority of people want the change. Why don't they also at least give the top 100 ranked players some kind of voting power in decisions like these.
@Spodikus

Good Podcast guys. I for one (as being a recreational non pro player) am grateful that the new system didn't get voted in. I think it would have been terrible for the lower grade players. Perhaps better for pros but this wonderful game is not just for the pros, it's for everybody

I started playing badminton by the age of 9 or 10, so I played with the old 15 point score for a short while. I prefer the current running score system as I think most games now have an appropriate length although a best of 5 sets to 11 points could be interesting.

One week you're in Indonesia, next week you're in China, next week you're in Japan, then you go to Denmark, next week to Germany, then to France, etc. 👍

There are also f1 (including jr categories like f2 f3 formula renault), motogp (also including junior categories like british superbike, aussie superbike, asia road racing, cev buckler, motoamerica), wsbk, squash, beach volleyball, bowling, golf, archery... You know what? the list goes on and on my point is dozens other sport have world tour not just badminton lmao🤣🤣
