Make the Best EVER Long Island Iced Tea

The Long Island Iced Tea is a potent concoction for those undecided on a base spirit. If you’re a bartender, chances are you’ve been asked to make one of these before. No matter the type of bar, sooner or later, a Long Island will be ordered. Don’t feel the need to buy all top shelf liquors for this drink. Not only would that be pricey to make, but with so many flavors, the nuances of each spirit could get lost. This one's not for the faint of heart. Cheers!

Let’s be honest, to improve on the Long Island just add more alcohol…. All of them. Or just pair it with a shot. And a comfy pillow.

1 oz of each! INSANE!!... I typically make it with 1/2 oz each spirit. Love your ratio of booze to coke! That's proper! Too many people add way too much coke which just makes it taste like rum & coke. Cheers!

Absolutely right. Where I'm from the max liquor a drink can have in it is 3oz. That's a half shot each (plus the whiskey/bourbon that should be in there) then the rest is sour mix. Only a splash of coke. It's there for color, not for taste

Definitely takes me back to college days. A local restaurant (Rafferty's) in Bowling Green, KY sold them for $3.95 on Monday Happy Hours and served them in large Mason jars. They were so good. Another local restaurant on Friday happy hours sold them for $4.00 a pitcher.. our table that night had way too many to mention (16) and amazed we all got home safely...we did have a DD. Memories....

I pour the cola into a separate glass before starting the cocktail, so it loses most of the carbonation. Gives it a smoother "tea" taste. But that's probably just me being weird & always finding a way to complicate things. Idk. Just discovered this channel btw, & love it. Keep up the great work!

As I see others saying, I too only do .5 oz pours for each alcohol. The lemon juice and syrup is really up to taste but I usually do .5 oz of each or 1oz of premade sour mix. I also shake it then strain it over ice into a cup where it fills up about 2/3 of the way and then float with coke because I like mine to be a bit more coke heavy usually. It definitely masks the alcohol better, and I usually drink quite a few of them when I make them at home. At the bars, I usually go for at least two if they're made well enough (sometimes it's too boozy and it doesn't mask the alcohol at all).
