The beautiful Crown SZ-5100 vintage boombox ghettoblaster

Crown SZ-5100SL (also called Unisef SZ-5000). Made in Taiwan sometime between 1985-1988. 8-inch woofers and lots of chrome. And this one still has the protective plastic film on it! Owner: Hugo Alvarez from Tijuana, México.

I had one in the early 80's.I sent it back for repairs to the home entertainment center I purchased it from.They said "it got lost in shipping"in route to repair shop.The man apologized and said I can pick out any boombox in the shop for free.I seen why when I got a Sony replacement back home.Nothing in boomboxes could match the Crown at that time.The power and sound quality was unmatched in portable stereos.

Yeah it was lightweight, but put out decent warm bass for what it was. I wonder if Lasonic actually made it, because it's so similar in looks.

My my this brings back some of my earliest memories. My parents had one of these from new in about 1986 when I was 2-3 years old. My mum gave me my own blank tape and showed me how to record from the radio. I can clearly remember recording songs I liked like: Berlin - "Take my Breath Away", Starship - "Nothing Gonna Stop Us", and Level 42 - "Lessons in Love".

Haha I remember having to do that.Id have that Maxell blank ready to go with finger on the record button.I'd be praying for my faves to come on the radio.Used to call the stations begging them to play it next!

My dad sold these for 50 quid a piece back in the day,I used to play Ozzy and Randy Rhoads through it ,it was seriously fuckin loud and lit the factory I worked at saw loud the manager Director who’s office was what felt like miles away came and told me turn it down.

Вид супер,а как аппарат говно 👎 Звук в нём размазанный,записывпет вообще отвратительно , можно сказать записи нет! Ещё и блок питания в верху это жуть!
