I'm not really sure but I think because this was considered as "low profile" show by Disney where there aren't any big SW names and they probably didn't really care that much about it and just wanted more shows for Disney+ so they gave more control to the actual show makers and much less interference compared to big ones like Obi Wan and Boba Fett where I guess Disney wants to be the way they want instead of giving control to the creators to write a compelling story. So the show makers were able to construct an actually well written show and focus on quality over cheap humor, cameos and superficial story.

I bet the reason why this show is so good is cause Disney did not micromanage it like they did Kenobi because it wasn’t a big character. They need to learn the right lessons from this show. Writing and story should be priority #1. Imagine this level of writing in a Jedi/Sith story. The ratings are due to KK’s incompetence for the last almost decade that has turned off the casual audience. Sad to see such a great show suffer because of it. I’m hoping word of mouth can make Season 2 bigger.

Exactly, some people just don’t like talking and actual storytelling, it’s far better to show a story through characters actions and emotions than to just feed it to you through quick forgettable dialogue and action sequences that aren’t thought out enough to be among some of the best. The prison sequence had my heart racing and made me really invested into it because of all of the time dedicated to showing how they will break out and why they have the motivation to break out instead of just waiting to die, the anticipation was very well done and made us all feel like we were trying to get out too. I also love the brutality in this show, it demonstrates how fucked up the world can be and the extreme choices they have to make
@Uncivil_Dreams
@Uncivil_Dreams Жыл бұрын
i wouldnt call it necessarily *filler*, but the buildup takes 3x longer than it has to take to be effective, and lots of the buildup is repetitive, the conversations are the same over and over, the scenes are the same over and over, and if its so well written it wouldnt need multiple episodes of buildup before anything in the show happens. like episode 7 was my favourite episode of the series, and that one didnt need any buildup, it was a standalone episode. personally, half the time i have to be doing something else while watching cuz its so boring if i dont. oh well tho, there seems to be lots of people still enjoying it so thats good, theres tons of other content coming for those of us that dont like more kenobi, mando s3, ahsoka, acolyte… something for everyone!
@ramseybrown3233
@ramseybrown3233 Жыл бұрын
@@Uncivil_Dreams The buildup is why it works. If Andor broke out of prison within one episode then it wouldn’t have been nearly as impactful. Same with the Aldani heist, lesser shows would’ve spent 20 minutes building up the heist but this show took its time and that’s why ep 6 was so phenomenal. If you want a show that doesn’t have buildup go watch the Mandalorian or Book of Boba Fett or Obi Wan.

Could've directed and wrote the show in a different way to avoid those boring scenes, potentially focusing the escape in a different way, but since now it's too late for that, the product at least turned out really good. Amazing acting and finally some aliens in the show. That made me excited for what might be coming up soon. Also, felt intrigued to know more about what planet the prison was at. I think the pacing, the build-ups and the multi episode mini-arcs is what makes this 12 episode series an absolute winner. It is what makes this prison escape episode so rewarding and gripping compared to lets say the speedy cartoonish Obiwan/Leia trench-coat disguise escape from Fortress Inquisitorious in Kenobi ep4.. Plus no Jedi mind tricks to break you out or resist a mind probe in this show. It all adds to the realistic mature tone and makes for great drama, you really get invested in these flawed 3D characters. Luthen was like the Godfather: Every time you think you're out, We'll pull you back in !

This show is by far the best thing Star Wars has put out since Empire Strikes Back. It's a masterpiece, I find it funny you say that you enjoyed this episode more and realize it may have been from all the "exposition" which you called "boring". Theory, the exposition is called world building man, and it was masterfully done, it makes you understand the characters and their motivations more so when you get this incredible episode the pay off is much greater. I feel Lucas would love this show, wish I can know his thoughts, what this show does is expand and explain the universe in a very chilling way. I see you and Den keep complaining about no force, or typical things with Star Wars, well that's the point, this is about the rebellion and the people in it, most of which were not force users just regular people. I understand wishing that the series had gotten to the point quicker, but if we compare this style of storytelling to Obi-Wan, for example, it begins to make sense. Had Reva's character not been as rushed I'm sure we'd like her substantially more. Inversely, I'm convinced this episode was so well done because we've slowly seen Cassian throughout the series pivot from being a cleverly selfish individual to someone who cares about others, and I think this, well of course, will be the catalyst for his role in the resistance. Really impressed with this series, and even more impressed with the character development of Cassian. 10/10 episode.

And Luthen's speech at the end about what he had sacrificed, combined with Stellan Skarsgard's incredible performance was f*cking Shakespeare. I was watching on tablet and when he rhetorically asked "What have I sacrificed?" I instinctively pulled the screen closer, hanging on every word. And the echo at the end when he yells "everything" just hammered it all home. As soon as credits rolled I immediately went back and watched that scene again. Absolutely top-shelf TV 🔥🔥🔥

Yeah, that one really hit hard. I was expecting the prison break to be the highlight (don't get me wrong, it was great) but boy this savage monologue was something else. Beautifully written, and beautiful delivered by Skarsgard. One for the ages.

This episode honestly gave me the season 1 of prison break tension from that first escape. I felt like I was helping them fight their way out myself great episode 👏

That torture scene of Bix was terrifying. The creepy doctor and the choice not to let us hear what those terrible sounds were, it was so good.

You keep stating that this series has been too much of a slow burn etc, but I feel this is what makes it great. We become more invested in the character's back stories, and this is the advantage of a tv series. Maybe in future films we will see these characters and we'll know why we are supportive or against them, rather than being told "this is bad, this is good". Anyway, loving Andor and can't wait to see the build continue.

I really hope Kino survives this, I really want to see more of Andy Serkis! He's taken this (so far) minor role and made it his own.

Absolutely love this show. Showing the inner circle of the rebellion and what it took. The Jedi didn’t spark the rebellion, the non-force sensitive people of the galaxy did. Shows how a Rebellion isn’t pretty and loved this episode!! Spark of the Rebellion

I just hope The Television Academy is receiving feed back on how great is the show ANDOR! The writing of the epic speech of Luthen has reached a next level of excellence. The acting in this scene is an Emmy worthy. We are watching what I believe the best SW since The Empire. The entire show is a masterpiece in writing, acting, music, cinematography, etc!

I'm not the type to tear up, but hearing Kino's "I can't swim... I can't swim" then seeing Andor move to help Kino only to be pushed over, I honestly feel like I need a little cry Bravo Andy Serkis, I'm not up to date on the news, honestly I'm bone idol and can't be arsed, but if that's it for Kino, I salute Andy for excellent, amazing performance

Luthen’s monologue at the end made me realize how much he sacrificed. I’d be one of his heroes 🫡
