And it wasnt a rigged cup in Qatar either. + this guy enabled Messi to be the monster that he was back then. Now whatever Messi does is just automatically hyped. There is wayy too much hype on strikers in my opinion. Its a teamsport and there was a point in time central midfielders where the most in demand players. Just like you see now with attacking backs.

@@rh.m6660 You contradict yourself. If it is a teamsport then no one player carry the whole team, winning team trophies is not good indicator for individual ability because it is a collective effort. He didnt make messi who messi is if messi was not messi. He himself admits messi is the goat. And how can you just downplay messi like that. If I bring someone who knows nothing about football and shows him few mintues of messi prime playing. He would tell you this kid is special. Because he got a natural talent. Anyone who downplay messi have hatred and jealousy in his mind. Go see thermal maps of messi, he works everywhere.

If Messi didn’t exist, the best footballer of that generation would be Iniesta, not CR7. I would even argue that the smoothest, most elegant dribbler of that generation was Iniesta while Messi was the most lethal dribbler. Messi sprinted, Iniesta danced.

Back in 2007 I saw the move at 2:12 live. I immediately jumped out of my seat in astonishment. What a move. 3 players trying to get the ball of him by the sideline and nobody gets close. It was the classico, around 80th minute. Barca were down 1-0 and trying to equalise.

I saw him when he was a junior playing against England’s U16s (I think) at the old Wembley. He stood out, then. People compare him to Scholes but he’s a different class. I grew up a United fan in the 90s and therefore love Scholes, but have to concede Iniesta is far superior a player. The best midfielder of the past 15 years or so.
