Ward such a champion. I really thought Kovalev was going to win the re-match - but after the knockdown in their first bout, Ward came back and won pretty much every round although this re-match and really showed how good he is. Kovalev hasn't been the same since. They both put on such a tremendous show in their two fights.

People dont realize what ward did on the 2nd fight. He put on more muscle. He croached more so kovalev cant get his face shots. He went to kovalevs body then upstairs. Thats what got the job done.

Bullshit! Many of those shot were DEFINITELY ILLEGAL low blows. You'd have to be a complete idiot to believe that and not be able to have seen what corrupt Tony Weaks allowed and Andre Ward was getting away with. It was a fixed fight. It had to have been in order to get away with so many corrupt illegal punches.

Casuals were saying Kovalev would be too strong for Ward. Ward, the same fighter who roughed up and threw Froch around, bludgeoned Kessler and split Abraham, three massive strong middleweights. Take a look at the Creed films, Ward off season is at least 215lbs. He's a big, thick, strong sturdy guy. He used to cut alot of timber to make super/middle. Yet, people still thought Kovalev was going to just walk through him. Get a clue, and please dont talk shit about low-blow. Those punches were legal and on the belt. To boot, the shot to the jaw was perfectly legit. Kovalev couldnt bully Ward and it broke him, period.

Kovalev attempted to move around and hold Ward to make it out of the round. That's when Ward hit Kovalev with 3 low blows that caused the fight to end. Kovalev was never given a chance to take a knee to recover from the low blows, because referee Tony Weeks stopped the fight before he could get a chance to recover.Jun 18, 2017

Facts, there were a few low blows landed and I thought the stoppage from the ref was terrible but after Ward landed the big right hand in round 8 it was only a matter of time until he got the knockout and probably would have ended similar to how Storm Alvarez stopped Kov with a few knockdowns. Buddy McGirt has turned Kov around since that loss though, can't wait for the Canelo fight this weekend. Imagine if Canelo won he called out Andre Ward, would be amazing.

we didnt know what kovalev looked like hurt until this fight so many didnt even know what they were seeing. In his fights after he had same body language as he was being taken out, ward had him for a while at the end it was inevitable.

Canelo going to have to eat about 100 jabs and slip 100 jabs to land those body shots though over the course of 12 rounds. That will gas him out and then we'll see how his survival skills are at 175, he was getting lit up by GGG in the last 3 rounds of the rematch, if Kov does the same then it could be game over but Canelo's iron chin leads me to believe he will go 12 and win a points decision.

It wasn't a knockdown so no 10 count. If Kovalev wanted a 10 count, he needed to take a knee. Standing around defenseless while getting pummeled is a quick way to get the fight called. The ref did his job. And there was not a single shot thrown to the nuts. If so, Kovalev would've been on the floor after all that. He just got his body broken down and had nothing left.

@@J-Hue I'd say let the men fight. Kovalev clearly wasn't done and after the robbery in his 1st fight the least they could do is let the fight go the distance. Remember fury getting back on his feet after deontay knocked him out cold? Kovalev didn't even fall down.

@@legion7163 There was no fight going on.He was keeled over defenseless getting rocked. The ref is supposed to stop the fight. Kovalev needed to defend himself or take a knee to get a breather. Otherwise, the ref has to stop in. He just lost.

Kovalev did himself no favors in that situation by not taking a knee if he needed to... you cannot not defend yourself and expect the ref to allow it to keep going

Correct result at the correct time referee did a great job ward was really digging that man's body he tore his s*** up!! I'll bet you kovalev pissed blood for a minute after that excellent fight we were treated to, always thought Sergey won the first fight so we were treated to one to one which would have been the third leg of a trilogy but to be honest, the third fight ward would have stopped Sergey more convincingly to be honest that's the way the career arches were heading!!!
