Andrea Gibson on racism from the white queer perspective. This powerful poem moved me to tears. Performed at Columbia College in South Carolina.

Powerful stuff as ever. Punches you right where it hurts. Leaves you reeling. And numb. And sad for humanity.

So utterly powerful, I'm crying. I was only born in 1998, but the pain still affects me, it's the pain of all humanity to bear. peace x

it just means you have a human heart and it works properly. denying someone empathy is a concept we will NEVER see coming from love. that shit is only rooted in hate. :)

So it should never be minorities' responsibility to educate white people... yet white people are not allowed to comment on minorities... so what do we do? Just ignore them? Just leave it? Doesn't really make sense, does it? So much cognitive dissonance. As long as you can string together a sentence that includes "minorities" and "white people" you'll get a clap and a cheer. And I even identify as someone on your "side" (far away from you on this side, albeit). You undermine our cause. Hack.

+Darc Gibson You get educated. You just don't ask 1 person to speak on behalf of all people.

"educate" vs "comment". Those terms mean very different things. Stop treating them like synonyms and ill bet you'll be able to answer your own question
@meredithsickel6655

She said it isn't the responsibility of people of color to educate us about white privilege. I think you may be interpreting it as her saying it isn't their responsibility to educate us about themselves. Not at all. White privilege is something wholly experienced by, created by, etc. white people. No white person has any excuse to not 100% understand it. Yet so many act as if they don't...or even as if there is no such thing. And they end up having to school us on it because no one else will. And that's adding insult to injury, to put it insultingly mildly
