My family came from next to a grand countryside estate like Versailles where Haydn lived for decades. I highly doubt anyone in my lineage sat in any such concert audience. I’m entirely unbothered by this, BTW. Part of this charm is past-exclusivity, as you observed, and if that means my exclusion to preserve it then I’m also unbothered by that.
