Mr Hughes, I have been using some of your videos for my 8th Grade US History class for two years and they have been of great help both for me and the students... especially for me since I am Spanish and did not know much of US History when I first came... well, also for the students, because I believe that just to hear a different voice helps them focus. Thank you very much for your hard work and clear and humoristic summaries.

But he didn't kill the bank. With the central bank gone, the state banks lent money which lead to the same exponential debt problem we have with a central bank.

Why isn't Andrew Jackson on Mount Rushmore as he is one of our greatest presidents? He deserves a monument in Washington DC. He came up from nothing to become a great general, congressman and finally president. He was a most effective president who delayed the Civil War for 30 years, attacked the corrupt Centeral U S Bank.etc. He wanted Senators directly elected by the people, term limits and the abolution of the Electorial College. He wanted the Presidency be limited to one term of 4 to 6 years. Not a bad idea.

“The Democratic Party of today is not the Democratic Party of yesterday.” Ironically all the key figures of the transition including William Jennings Bryan, Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry S. Truman, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Hubert Humphrey and even George McGovern were all fans of Jackson. Heck, so was Bill Clinton. Lol

Yes and no. What most people don’t know is that President Jackson was actually a fan of the native Americans, due to half of his children being adopted native Americans orphans. He privately hated the Indian removal act of 1830 because he felt he was betraying his own sons who had died two years earlier. However he did it in an effort to save as many Native American lives as possible
