My biggest problem was that Abraham took the hit for the group, but then they cheapened it by also doing Glenn. One or the other, but not both. They already changed so much by that point that they could have let Glenn live and followed that alternative storyline.

I personally have never undserstood how ppl can ever say Glenn’s death was ever too much. It’s not the first time I’ve heard that. Like I get it but we’ve witnessed MANY brutal things before that like cannibalism, rape, domestic abuse. We’ve seen not only ppl devoured by, but literally fed to walkers. We’ve seen ppl beheaded, beat half to death. List goes on yet because it was Glenn, it was “too much”? The entire show was “too much”! I remember the S6 finale/the cliffhanger and the only gripe I ever had with it was the fact that they were just so willing to leave everyone hanging for so long, expecting us to sit on our hands and patiently wait to find out what happened. Alot of ppl hadn’t read the comics so many were left with a “that’s messed up how could they do that?” feeling. Fans started to leak things like filming locations and who was seen on set, it was kinda hard to not come across. S7 is definitely where the series takes a turn but Carl was definitely the bullet in the artery. After Carl’s death, I still watched out of love but the feeling was different. Half the time, I wasn’t even watching live, I’d hit record and go tend to life. I used to center entire weekends around airing episodes just to meet up with friends and talk about what happened right after. That’s just how it was for alot of ppl who watched the show. I think alot of ppl were upset because they had a sense of connection with each character and through the ones we lose, that connection got stronger with the ones still alive, only to have to wait and wait just to end up suffering through a traumatizing end like that. I think Glenn had died, torn apart at the bottom of that dumpster there would be no hate. Glenn would be just another heartbreaking death on the show. I don’t remember the name of the actor who played Nicholas but he’d still to this day be receiving death threats for getting Glenn killed though lol.

@@TWDExplained Yeah, I truly believe that’s a universal feeling. The suckiest part of it all is how he dies. All of S7 he was hell bent on killing Negan only to mysteriously adopt Morgan’s all life is precious principle by S8. It’s a weird transition man.

Rick Accomplished what Okafor saw in Rick that he knew would be a longshot of changing the CRM and the whole world. Okafor got tired of the CRM doing stuff just as bad as the Federal Forces did at the start of Outbreak. I am happy that Rick and Michonne helped changed the outcome for the better. It's still the most powerful Military in the world still. only 2,000 troops were killed and the rest of the 15,000 plus are still operating under New Management. who knows maybe more people will join the ranks now it's better. you can bet those numbers will increase to strengthen other communities. I would very much like to see the show and characters join the New CRC in Uniforms saving the rest of the world, going on missions, Build bases, outposts, Establish Communities and help other Communities defend themselves. I'm tired of the small world view, it's 15 years into the Apocalypse, I can see them all in action in black CRC uniforms helping those out there doing good, and the show could get so much bigger, Apaches, chinooks, humvee's, etc... Fight for something bigger than Themselve's I want to see more of what we saw in the ones who live, on a bigger scale and reclaiming the U.S. and destroying the million strong hordes and fight other evil out there and save those and build back Civilization... I want to see those apaches, and other aircraft and ground vehicles in action, hell I would like to see them go on missions reclaiming overun bases years ago and the whole nine yards... It would not make sense for them to stay separated and do everything the hard way like they have. IF they decide to come back or do more shows, It Has to be them joining The New CRC and help bringing back Civilization!!!!

Glenn’s death was devastating, but so it should be. I think perhaps the show runners underestimated how much fans loved Glenn - the eye gore wasn’t needed for his death to be so impactful for the audience. I think perhaps that’s what Andrew meant - Glenn still had to die but it was right on the line of too much.

I think we all got tired. Season 7 episode 2,when Morgan took Carol to the kingdom was awful. Especially after following that. If you watch those seasons today and binge it,it's really good. But back then if you were invested with something Rick or Negan was involved in,you wouldnt get back to them for three weeks or maybe three months of it fell in the middle of the season. And look how long it took to get to Rick. Especially if it's a let down on top it. It's tiring and predictable. The first few seasons when someone died it was shocking. After Glenn's death, everything has been predictable and played safe with the exception of Carl and we all saw how badly that played out. A slight reboot making the walkers evolve with acid blood and becoming fast. Have destroy all these new societies like Portland New Babylon, kill off everyone except 10-15 characters in the universe and get back to how it started. I think we would all love it more. They showed there's way more survivors then we thought. Have them believe society started rebuilding but those experiments and General Beale's theory was right and go from there. Like this time it's the real Apocalypse.

@@kitm141 I had a fan come at me for saying how fans were disappointed with the ending. He said only fan boys were into CRM. For five or six years on every walking dead fan channel. We all discussed it. So idk were he got that. But yes it was so rushed. Plus thinking back. It made Rick look bad. He couldn't escape but Michionne shows up and they destroy the entire group in a day. The only part of society with special forces unit, scientists, military missiles, helicopters etc. yet the Doma in NYC is more of a threat or some lady in France. Not to mention how long they drag everything out only to let us down. I think they need to get on with making the walkers super fast and stronger. Have all these new societies crumble and state the narrative that this is the true Apocalypse. Then have 10-15 core characters and have it like it was in the first few seasons were anything can happen.

@@johncap6495 yeah, totally agree. I love the show for the characters and their stories and it seems we have lost that. We’ve just had villain after villain in a uniform, telling the character on screen that they are going to “win” or “change the world”. They fail and our heroes win, over and over. I totally get that human nature would create some really awful situations in an apocalypse but I’m always more drawn to the smaller villain. Negan and the Saviours weren’t this huge monolithic force, they were people trying to survive. They didn’t have food carts or complex political hierarchies. If I want to see that, I’ll look out my window. I want people fighting to make a home, creating life in an undead word. Not bloody ice cream parlours. Bring in the walker variants and bring the show back to its roots, I reckon. People adapt but now they seem almost complacent about the undead.

@@johncap6495 Yeah, fully agree with this. People blame the death of Glenn and Abraham to be the catalyst, but that's wildly inaccurate. The reality is it had very little to do with the Negan kills. Other than killing off Carl(which was the straw that broke the camel's back), the inconsistent pacing and caving in to criticism of the show "crossing the line" by casual fans/critics who weren't as invested as the primary audience was, with its depiction of violence was a slow burn to the decline in quality. AMC did all of the latter, to save ratings and yet achieved the exact opposite. TWD used to have balls and fangs, now its just a neutered house-cat that hisses every now and then. Characters once had meaningful development that led to a fully realized arc which would either end with a shocking death or a transformation caused by the horrors of the apocalypse. It made it thrilling and unnerving to watch. It never pulled its punches which was when TWD was at its best and why so many people reference seasons 1-6 as the series glory days. When it was small scale, the writing being consistently solid and the characters felt like real human beings who could die at any moment so every scene with them alive had to count. The last seasons, 10-11 especially, felt so underwhelming because they elected to play it safe all the way to the last episode. No major character deaths aside from one. Rosita, who had barely any screen time to her name and yet it felt so cheap. Almost as if they felt obligated to kill at least one but never pushing the limits like it was before. Its frustrating looking back on it. AMC/Gimple expanding the universe needlessly and spreading themselves too thin with too many spin-offs has also been a poorly thought out choice in handling the franchise. It needs to go back to its roots. Hit a reset button and return to the beginnings of the apocalypse with new characters as fleshed out as the originals were. Perhaps a go at adapting the Telltale Walking Dead series to live action.

I’m a source material purist. Killing Glenn in that moment WAS the right thing to do. I think the issue is that they took Abraham as well. To be honest, i've been seeing so many takes on this situation, mine is that Glenn's death is fine, it's just that Abraham should've lived longer since his death was over-shadowed, but can you really blame Andy for saying this? I don't think the death was the problem. I know people were mad about the cliffhanger. But we said this before, season 7-8 hindsight 2020,the seasons are better binged watching. In real time when watching those episodes,we had so many characters that when you had a cliffhanger with lets say Negan. We wouldn't see him again for another 4 weeks and if it was in the middle of the season and we got that break,we didn't get the payoff for months. Look how long we waited for Rick. It's tiring especially when we are let down. And I said this before. It's us the fandom that love it and creators like James making such great videos and discussions, which keeps it alive. They need do a slight reboot quick. Make the walkers become the main villain now and another real live threat which should been CRM. Keep the core cast with about 12-16 characters tops! And most importantly stop making it so predictable. I remember when Shane died. I was OMG,same with certain characters. After season 7 though with the exception of Carl( which turned into the biggest mistake) everything is so predictable and played safe. That is why it lost steam. I think. But have the walkers with that dart,if they bite you,you become super fast and stronger this way the walkers become the main threat and kill off all these new societies like Portland,New Babylon etc and get back to what made it so great to begin with.

Glenn is one of my favorite characters (maybe my fav besides Rick) and Steven Yeun is an amazing guy but honestly I think fans took his death way too personally. A character died on a tv show and people acted like it was the end of the world (no pun intended). But during this time period TWD ruled the world, everybody was watching and the fanbase was too large for it's own good and a lot of people couldn't handle what they were watching.

I don’t like that Glenn was killed either. He was one of my fav’s! For what I know of comic and what I have noticed watching show over & over, is that they usually change it or tease so readers don’t know what is coming. They have teased several times that Glenn is dead through out series. When you think Glenn is dead & Nicolas is on top of him or at Terminus when swing bat back. It’s hard for me not to laugh because they are even using bat. Abraham does die in comic with Denise’s arrow in eyeball. Which is my fav kill. I didn’t ‘want her to die especially because character was just starting to blossom into something bigger. Loved way they did it. I thought it was awful for Glenn & Abraham to die & brutal way it was done but that is how Negan character was portrayed & I have been told he is worse in comic. I always skip this episode. I have only seen it once & that was enough. I am sure this was another tease. What really gets me is that people watching this when it premiered had to wait so long to see what happened. I binged it about yr & half ago so I didn’t experience that I think I would went crazy! Kinda like I am now waiting for Daryl!

I'm sorry for long comment. But I said about how episodes were so tiring and spread out and the payoffs were so far apart is what killed it. They should made a separate show. Fear the Walking should have been from the villains perspective or did this. If Rick was the A storyline, and he had wait three weeks to get back to it. Then they could have avoided that by having Fear follow the B,C,D storyline especially from the villains perspective then the mid season and season finale could been bigger. The spinoffs are doing better because we get six straight episodes of the main characters but again they are playing too safe and predictable.

God. A musical now? What has TWD become? The original had a good run but it sort of was limping towards the end. It wasn't the death of Glenn or Abe. It was Carl and losing the main character (Rick) because of frustrating writing choices. AMC/Gimple needlessly expanded the universe when it always should have been small-scale to each prospective show, which was the main show and FearTWD. I miss when TWD was an actual survival horror series and not a overly sentimental melodrama spread too thin across too many spin-offs that just doesn't know when to quit. I'll probably keep watching to see where the characters end up. But I draw the line at a musical. A musical is such a stupid idea that doesn't fit with what TWD once established in tone.
