Hi, my friends call me Tisch, I’m here to help you become the artist you are meant to be.
I’ve been a professional artist for the last 20 years. In that time I’ve sold paintings to collectors internationally, worked on massive commissioned projects, I’ve had a few sell out shows and rubbed shoulders with the rich and famous on epic “artist in residencies”, but nothing compares the joy I feel when teaching others and passing on what I’ve gathered.
I would love to share with you what I’ve learned and help you with your own artistic journey so you can take your art to the next level.
A little about me:
I was born in Texas and showed promise in art from an early age. I was always the kid in class who drew. I would cover the inside of my file, and school books with drawings, mostly dinosaurs and aliens. On the weekends, if I wasn’t playing cricket, climbing trees or playing roller-hockey I created art in my room.
My interest for creating was nurtured by my supportive father who’s a renowned sculptor. In highschool I decided to take art more seriously, realising this was what I wanted to dedicate my life to. I became laser-focussed and shut out the outside world in my senior year and painted and drew like crazy. I got accepted into a university art school, which was a 3 year degree (I wouldn’t recommend it). With heavy leaning towards conceptual art I stumbled through, but ultimately embraced the fact I was a representational painter, in love with the old masters.
I fell into the life of a professional artist shortly after I finished university and then discovered a passion for teaching.
I started teaching classes to groups of 10 people at a time, in Perth Western Australia - I watched KZfaq videos all the time but never thought of giving the platform a shot, until 6 years ago when I started my channel and uploaded my first video.
Since then, I haven’t looked back. The digital medium has allowed me to reach people on a global scale. From KZfaq I thought I could offer even more, with full length tutorials here on my website. There’s so many technical aspects to painting that it’s difficult to condense into a 15 minute clip, so having long form tutorials really enables students to get the necessary information to develop their skills. I can pour everything into long form video and I hold nothing back - openly sharing techniques that have taken me nearly 20 years to develop.
Two years ago I started a Patreon page which has since grown into my online academy, I call “Tisch Academy”. I discovered this was a beautiful way to build and take part in an interactive community - full of artists; seeing the growth and comradery amongst our community has been inspiring to say the least. From beginners to professionals, the Academy community is dedicated to the craft of painting & sharing a love for art. I create exclusive content taking a holistic approach to art, focussing not only on technique but business and personal development as well. Our exclusive community is fast approaching 2000 members.
In recent years I moved to New Zealand with my sweetheart Rachel, who I’ve been married to for 11 years. We have a beautiful son, Hugo, and a particularly naughty puppy, Alfie.
It’s been a wild and fulfilling journey so far. I hope to see you in the studio!

I’m not crying…you’re crying! LOL. Happy tears. Emotional artist. 😊but …Andrew, you’re an incredible painter/artist, along with your wisdom and desire to help and connect with other human beings is absolutely key. It is truly what has been missing in my life as of late. And, you’ve inspired me to further guard/protect the scheduling of my time to get the artwork and the very important service and time to and with my loved ones to happen, and be a more balanced individual. Thank you, brothers! Great work! Great words! 🙏💕

Thank you Jeff for this interview one of the best that you've had that I've watched ... tumbled over your videos I'm so glad I did. (Would like to see some of your work ) Love his work , love love love love his still alive, landscapes, animals, birds, portraits ,I love the Western the horse and cowboy. Just love everything he does.... I find his very unselfish in teaching how to paint with all his information and experience and talents.... love (love his videos. ) Far as I'm concerned he's a master of rocks .... what I would consider a master his time . Would like to follow him closely... in the near future again in the near future ) ........ I wish him all the best and a great successful career ❤❤❤❤❤❤....

I really enjoyed the topic about how he digitally paints using photos, and his imagination to create a template to work from. I like to do that as well and I’ve even taken it further with mid journey as mid journey creates something that I am imagining and then I take it even further by doing adjustments and changes . AI never gets it right but it definitely gets the ball rolling and I’m sure the masters would’ve taken advantage of modern technology as well, so I will, too with no shame .

thank you both for this.... especially that last 20~30 minutes about focus and mindset. That's my main struggle 3 years into picking up a brush for the first time. Im off to a good start, but need better focus to REALLY get more done.

he mentions Instagram... this is my struggle. Its great for content, you can make some really cool vids and its great for marketing.... but it sucks you in. In to a time warp when I feel my time is better spent painting. Very addictive and dangerous to the creative process. I believe the term is "necessary evil".
