@Gregory Roberts buddy boy- working hard for your family will not change the future of automation and job losses that go with that. Automation will target the common jobs in rural America and Yang is just trying to make the effects of this less disruptive. The dividend gives people options, especially for your family and their futures. Don't dismiss Yang's ideas when his plans will help middle America stay afloat during this massive economic shift. The UBI doesn't dictate what you do with that money, rather the opposite really. It would allow you to take action and further yourself. Yang's presidency puts the American people first, not corporations who resist the change America requires. OMG Getta clue

Annalise Shaw... Endless numbers of us have said that, -that we hate "politics". But, we're the people, we're not the politics that have been allowed to take root and perpetuate since the beginning of this Nation's construction. We ARE our government and we need to be invested in that. I popped in on your comment to say this because, I think symantecs count when we've created such thick, blanketed statements that we've lost all sight of what anything is, pertaining to the statement. It's a shocking idea, to a great number of us, when we really allow ourselves to understand that, we're the ones who are supposed to be running this entity. That, this entity is nothing to be above us but, rather, behind us when we need the backing and, below us when we're looking for our footing to propel in our individual and collective journeys. That idea is surreal to far too many of us. The fact is, your "autonomous" life is affected constantly by the government we allow to rule and, in ways that we'd understand if only we hadn't lost our education of it. We're walking around blind, we're avoiding and handing off our literal rights, our children's futures, to ppl we don't even know because, "we hate politics", right? -I hate politics, too... They're in the same genre as greed and harming each other. But, I want my rights and I want to know what they are and how to wield them when they don't automatically work for me. It's a scary place when something happens to you and yours and it seems there's nothing you can do about it. That's the residue of politics, IME but it's NOT to be confused with what our government should be and who should be in charge of it. Otherwise, we're hating ourselves.

@@davidgrossman9859 I think it’s politics that took away our rightful education. We should be educated from the beginning of our lives, especially in public education institutions, no? But... what we get is washed and brief...I wonder if we’re conditioned to dislike it, in the first place. It’s supposedly boring... but is it? Would being taught from the beginning, what privileges we have as citizens, things that will affect us throughout our entire lives and knowing how to exercise these things toward our due advantage, is that boring? I think, if taught properly, in ways that humans best collect and retain information, it would be fascinating for many of us. That’s with anything, as a curious species, IME. If we stay disinterested, if we keep to the comfort we’ve learned to have, inside the proverbial, hamster wheel/running toward the “American Dream”, we’re perpetuating immeasurable room for politics to govern our existences. It’s difficult to learn ALL this information by the time you’re an adult, having deep seated, innumerable biases, crafted by many a subconscious affecting thing, over the years. Much, much easier on the mind to travel on the trail burned long ago than to go through a new discovery process, outside all comfort and belief.

Anyone ever heard the term “history always repeats itself” mostly because ppl forget and don’t read up on history. The tax system was added in old England as a means of distributing wealth. The rich came up with the idea. Ultimately, it was the middle class and the poor that paid the most (relative to their income) If the US implements a UBI it will be the middle class and lower class that pays the most taxes even with $12k per year. If your net worth is $20 million compared to $200k, who would struggle more with a 10% tax increase?

If he can win New Hampshire during the debate tomorrow and then have that show in the caucus votes on the 11th I think he will have an amazing shot for the Presidency. Like he said in the CNN Townhall yesterday, Bill Clinton lost Iowa and only had 3% but won New Hampshire then went on to be president for 2 terms (even though the second one was cut short respectively). Tbh it's probably good that he didn't become president. Dems can't even pass a minimum wage increase. The dinosaurs in washington wouldn't pass UBI. Though on the other hand, Yang has been good at opening right wingers and/or nonvoters up to progressive policies. If he was the Dem frontrunner, and you saw loads of nonvoters and republicans vote for him in addition to dems, that might have gotten enough politicians to pass it, especially since Republicans are constantly going on about "google bad" shit (but never exxon bad 🤔).

@@DavidMorley123 Im glad we could keep this civil since most are here just to troll. My issue is that Yang doesn't really detail much of his plans. He makes blanket statements of what he wants to do, (VAT) and then goes straight to the end result in his opinion will be great revenue. He leaves out the details which make up 90% of the policy. I understand he says their will be exemptions on basic goods like groceries etc. But there is so much more to a VAT structure that many voters have questions about. One of which was asked by the young lady in this video. She mentioned smart corporations and business owners know how to pass these expenses onto the consumer. Yang avoided the question by answering a different one. In the EU, it is known how the VAT impacts consumers far more than corporations because companies only pay a portion of the price of goods while consumers pay the entire tax on the sale price. I just ask that he go into more detail because these issues have to be addressed and to just say basic goods are exempt isn't enough. On another note, I do agree our current system is broken, I do agree we need change. Im a libertarian so I don't have party loyalty. Im just not sure his plan is thought out on VAT. I do give him credit because I think he truthfully wants to do right. Unlike Creepy Joe who is owned by the establishment.

Also EU is not corruption free. Best but not perfect. It isn't talked about as much as in EU because inequality is not bad as in USA. And Yang as much as he has better ideas than lots of candidates from the both isles he is still man of the Big Tech(Amazon, Tesla, Google...) so he is actually defending his bosses interest. He is not honest at there. Because you can tax wealth in fact USA did decades with highest percent. There are solutions for tax heavens, double Irish sandwich and so on. It doesn't take much. The hive mind responds to the slightest disturbance in the Force. What exactly were you planning to do with the "deplorables"? Maybe, like Obama, "take away their car keys"? HRC would have been president, I believe, except for her contempt for half the nation. This is what seems to make Yang different. @@donngreitontordilla1456 On a more serious note, since you were triggered before realizing the actual substance of my comment, and on realizing that what afflicts you is probably widespread, I will explain: People of the Left and People of the Right are different; spectacularly, extremely different, more different than the typical man is from the typical woman (in my opinion and experience). Things important to the right aren't even on your radar; there is a type of blindness where it cannot even be described or explained. Same going the other way. Someone like Yang *might* succeed in getting Left and Right on the same *train* figuratively speaking, but that does not mean Left and Right will be united; it simply means that goals can be aligned such that the labors of Leftwingers and the labors of Rightwingers can be made *complementary* and benefit the nation as a whole. This is already somewhat the case which is why the United States is still the United States; producers (Republicans) are complementary with consumers (Democrats) each needs the other even when mutually despised. Joseph Stalin's method of creating a "we" was to eliminate most of the producers. So did France in the Time of Troubles (French Revolution) and so is Venezuela right now. The right has good reason to believe socialism's next experiment must fail as surely as every preceeding experiment failed. That also is unique for Yang; giving everyone a thousand dollars a month isn't exactly socialism and consequently might work. Socialism will kick in when the Democrats go hunting for money to give away; it must always be OPM, other people's money, and there just isn't enough of it.

I double dog dare anyone to define "fair" in anything resembling a universally acceptable way. It tends to mean "I want what you have". Who is "we"? @Savant do you even know the difference between a sociopath and a psychopath? What you are suggesting is a psychopath and he doesn't show any actual signs of being one..? “I know very little about the Math PAC generally,” he said. “If it’s the case that we have the rules that we have, and people want to support my message and my campaign, given the system we have right now, they’re free to do so.” “I just hope they are aligned with my vision for the country and invest accordingly" Those are his exact words in response to accepting PAC money, a psychopath would not be so direct in their responses and would Infact opt to go on anectodal response which would primarily focus on manipulating the feelings of those around them rather they just straight up laying out the facts with a genuine air to his words. If he was a 'sociopath' as you suggested he would be completely unorganized in his life and would be emotionally unstable, unlike psychopaths, sociopaths are usually born out of emotional or physical trauma or abuse at a young age usually pre pubecent and as a result end up developing sociopathic tendencies such as a lack of remorse and guilt and violet outbursts as well as a perspective of some precieved wrong by some group of people and as a result can take out their anger and frustration on their targets and will take some satisfaction in their action often times they do have emotions and can feel guilt it is just super rare and they heavily lack the feelings of remorse (they are more nurture then nature, though due to the malleable nature of the mentally ills mind, one who is mentally ill may be more susceptible to developing such a pathology, it more heavily the fault of the environment. While a psychopath is the classic idea of a person without any real emotion, an individual who can easily blend into society, there have been occasions when a head injury caused psychopathy which goes to show it is more of a numerological deformity or damaging of the brain possibly during childbirth that causes the symptoms (which is more nature then nurture). A psychopath can have a healthy upringing and have a great childhood, they can even go without killing but their eyes and their words and feels are drenched with a superficiality. It's funny norman Bates in psycho is actually more of a socieopath. Same goes with American Psycho, this is emphasized by the confession scene where the Patrick batemen cryed like the weeping killer. A true psychopath is a character like Billy or Hans from Seven deadly psychopaths, and especially Hal 9000 and his mindset is the perfect embodiment of a psychopath, or possibly even jack Nicholson was a psychopath before entering the hotel but was pushed into delusional madness and a bloodlust by the ghosts of the hotel. Psychopaths don't need to kill and can often times blend into society, a perfect copy, a sociopath is more twisted up by society and left a sinister psychologically deformed of their former selves. They tend to both have 'the stare', this is more notable and documented on sociopaths, who tend to be far less organization and tend to care less about faking it to blend into society, psychopaths can hide it but is incredibly difficult and is usually notable, I mean Jake Paul has psychopathic tendencies not because of an even but he was born that way, his brother has similar traits but they are far less pronounced and could easily be born out of being influenced by Jake Paul himself. With Jake Paul however, at times he has the detached stare the eyes that simultaneously feel hollow and like a animal about to strike, there is something quite unsettling about the state which often constantly sits on the faces of psychopaths, Andrews eyes are far to emotive to be that of a psychopath and his family upbringing as well as his general success in life really stops the idea that he is a sociopath because unlike psychopaths, sociopaths often struggle to hold onto work

I think you just pointed out one of his best personality traits! Even though Yang is very data and numbers driven, and while he knows that the numbers are on his side, he still is genuinely interested in hearing the opposing ideas and cases, never to dismiss them or to show contempt just because he believes he's correct. His style of communication starts with the willingness to listen and an open mindset to find common grounds. On top of that, he always comes across as being sincere and respectful to others, even if he may completely disagree with their views! This is what a great leader does and what's needed to effectively work with people who have vastly different ideas and beliefs, in order to bridge mutual understandings, and eventually getting buy-ins & build consensus!

As Yang said, it's meant to stimulate the economy and it's to help people that are struggling to give them the opportunities that they've been wanting such as education. As a student I could quit my job and focus more on being a full time student. Having a job and being a full time student doesn't always match up, and its contributed to failing some classes because we're understaffed and I don't have time to do the studying I need, and contributed to lengthening the time it takes to get my degree.

I sense that they still have doubts and questions. I like Yang too, but I can see that it is harder to make these educated voters to trust Yang. I think what Yang needs after this interview is to review this interview and come up with a even more robust set of research / data and policies on issues covered in this interview. He will need real experts on nuclear energy, renewable energy, VAT experts .. I hope some of the yang gangs are in these fields. And I hope that he takes steps to address any shortcoming in his current proposed policies, and comes up with a even better substances asap.

papaburger these are educated voters? He literally had to do math for them to recognize the ubi proposal is less money for the rich than the poor. He had to reiterate to the guy on why he didn’t like a wealth tax telling him how it failed in many other countries. These may be educated voters but they are not informed voters. The woman seems like she wants to make decisions for others. Constantly asking what if people made the wrong decisions and seemed surprised that Yang expected people to “tap into” their freedom dividend to survive natural disasters.

Can't tax the rich too much. If they can't evade it and avoid paying it, they will literally move out of the country and take their company with them, which would leave a fucking giant sink hole in the economy of whichever area they were at which is what we do not want!! A prime example of when a Walmart moves in and is built with that area's tax money and given tax breaks due to promises of bringing jobs and commerce to the area, but in their wake of being there and leaving they kill all other small business that are local to the area. After all small businesses have gone bankrupt and Walmart leaves, theres no jobs left to get and no stores to buy any goods even if the people had money.

@@sparda9060 In Europe, this is absolutely true, since someone can move to the country next door & commute to work, but the data show that America is likely - but not guaranteed - to not follow that trend for the simple reason that the country is too big for the rich to pull off that commuting thing here, & yet too rich & well-connected for the bourgeois to abandon the market. Oh! And I'm not stating my opinion here, so this isn't a thing for arguing, & if you don't believe me, I won't take it personally. This is just the analysis I've read. Ummm.... what's a good example... Oh! So y'know how we pay 3-10 times as much for the same medications as people in other countries pay? That's largely because those are American built & American run countries, so Congress lets them get away with it. But if those same pharma companies transferred where they were incorporated from here to somewhere like Ireland, with much kinder tax brackets, they wouldn't have as easy a time of it when they tried to charge a bajillion dollars for an insulin scrip after they did so. Anyway, like I said, no worries if you don't believe me. I just read a lot & like to pass on what I learn. Do the research if you feel so inclined, but if either way, have a nice day.

@@TheAsianRepublican Not to mention that in the US republicans have constantly used the power of deciding what are and aren't staples to target minorities and women. Fixing racism and sexism in the US is a prerequisite for a VAT as long as we have a republican party that can win elections. Pretending policy can exist in a vacuum is foolish at best , but in the case of Yang looks highly disingenuous. If the VAT wasn't enough to rule him out, his push to have his supporters help the cult leader Marianne Williamson stay in on the democratic debate stage tells me everything I need to know about him. He's a money-ball politician using terrible ideals from the rightwing like the VAT tax in the hopes of pealing off enough crazy libertarians to get a far stronger showing in the dem primary then he possibly could get from democratic voters. Being on board with a VAT is good for Yang, but him moving the Overton window on the debate over a VAT in the US is bad for everyone else and potentially a disaster for democracy.

Andrew Yang is legit and spot on. VAT is the way to go. In Singapore, we have the GST (Goods and service tax), it is essentially same as the VAT. The GST tax 7% on all goods and services that are consumed domestically in Singapore and it makes up 21% of our revenue collected. To help people in the low-mid income bracket, our government also returns the GST in the form of a yearly "GST rebates"; a one-off sum to offset the tax collected.

What about the rest of your taxes? Besides VAT, how much is your income tax, customs tax, property taxes. Maybe it's easier in Singapore to have GST tax since you highest individual tax rate is 22% and the highest corporate tax rate is 17%. A VAT tax in the US would strangle us. For us add on the State income tax. Collectively our taxes are around 50%, SS, medicare, State Income, Fed income, Property, sales.

@@jimw7043 most countries don't have state tax I think. My country has income tax ranging between 36 and 51% depending on your income. Higher brackets for higher income. In return you get almost free healthcare, affordable education (we pay max 3000 euro tuition for uni's that belong to the top 100 universities in the world) and the unemployed get monthly benefits around 1400 euro's per month.
