I had a chain of insane best friends growing up. They were all horse girls. One of the crazier ones actually had a bearded dragon. That's how we became friends. She disliked small talk but was impressed that I bothered to ask her what a bearded dragon was instead of cracking a joke like "oh yeah? I have a purple giraffe back home." Every time she got a period cramp she would drop to the ground and curl up in a ball. I think she might have needed to get checked out. But we were middle-school aged and our parents were ignorant woo-woo homeschoolers so everyone just wrote that off as eccentric not as endo or fibroids or something.
