Ever downloaded files onto your Android device, but have been unable to delete them? Well, this video shows you some workarounds using some software that lets you delete it. Whether it's on your main storage, or external storage.

Hi Wesley, brilliant video. Thank you for helping me get rid of an emoticon file. Just one suggestion that I hope will help everyone. Tried getting rid of a filename with an emoticon at the beginning and end of the filename but it didn't work because there was no letter at the start. Used * (asterisk) and then part of the filename as in your video but this didn't work either then remembered my early work on computers that said that you needed asterisk(midstring)asterisk to identify the full name. So what you need is an asterisk * then a part of the filename that is identifiable, followed by another asterisk * and then you are sorted. My dodgy file was emoticon, filename, emoticon. The filename included Indy so I sorted it by using * Indy * and followed Wesley's instructions. Many thanks again, Bill

Did you find the solution by any chance? I have the exact same issue. When I do a "ls", I do see the file, but when I try « rm [file_name] », it says « rm: cannot remove '[file_name]': No such file or directory ». I really hope you have the solution, because I'm at my wit's end.

Thank you. I had file names that appeared empty in the terminal, so I decided to copy okay-files to my PC and used "rm -r directory-name" to delete the entire directory of corrupted files and freed so much storage I didn't think was possible to.

I'm having trouble removing the folders themselves, and whenever I try It says "cannot remove 'blank': is a directory". I tried formatting my SD card and everything.

Excellent video ! Your instructions worked perfectly on my smartphone.The only mistake that I made was that I named a folder in which my "undeletable" file was consisted of 2 words.Error message: too many arguments.Took me 5 minutes before I realised that I have to rename the folder.From now on I will not using a space between new folder names. Thanks for the video - appreciated

i have deleted a apk file and a movie from downloads. and deleted files doesn't shows in any other or 3rd party file manager but it only shows in android pre installed files in download section cant delete these files from there, cant do anything with them. and others file managers dont shows the files (apk and the movie) so please help me if you have any idea what's going on and how to solve it ❤️ please help me

Any solution to this problem for older phones like nokia n96 ? I got over 200 corrupted broken photos on that phone that are undeletable, it's showing full file size only... I just shouldn't deleted those photos on n96, connected over usb, from the COMpUtEr. 😸

That hard reset as a last resort to wipe out all storage data was not my option anyway. I use that phone only for music from time to time.
