This was a very easy install upgrading my 2005 Toyota Highlander in an hour with head unit, and dash cam. Rear camera took 2 hours as it was more involved.

I noticed on the update video there is an android 10 version, as the link for the 6,0 version is no longer working. Will it still fit as nicely? I dont want to add the cameras, just the console for music purposes.

It should fit up nicely and it is a thinner/less deep unit.

great video, was just wondering how you ran the reverse backup camera wire all the way back to your camera on the bumper? Were you able to run it under the trim along the door of the vehicle?

Hi John, I went through the left license plate light on the tailgate, and ran the main wire along the upper trim/liner on the left/driver side. That allowed me to split the camera power wire down the pillar to the left/driver side reverse light. It wasn’t that bad, I did rewire the license plate lights harness to help accommodate the camera wire; but the seal to the tailgate had plenty of room for all the wires. Hope that helps.

I have an 06 Toyota Highlander and I was wanting to upgrade the stereo to a digital multimedia receiver but no camera (I have never done this before) and I was wondering if I was going to have to do some wiring?..it looks like you just plugged everything in and it worked.

Correct, just plug and go, only thing I did differently, was put the e-brake wire to ground to simplify the installation and allow the DVD to function while driving so the kids can see video.please watch the one year review for some more tips on GPS antenna placement and other features, have fun.

I have a 06 limited hybrid with the jbl stereo, I installed a aftermarket android radio but the box didn’t have any components of what company made the unit. Once I installed the radio , their was no audio coming, rather it was just static. I put the original radio back and still no audio. What’s wrong with the amp? Should I get a replacement?

Yusuf, sorry I only have the base unit. The JBL has a much sophisticated wire harness with amps. My guess is a some wiring not connected. Also if you forget the antenna, the radio will not have any audio just static. Try running mp3 or other to see if audio is truly not hooked up.

The harness came with the unit, and it was Toyota specific . Sorry I don't have a part number for it.

Just to clarify, was the harness prewired from factory with this unit or did you wire it up yourself?

Most of it was pre-wired, I just had to wire up the rear camera

Hi, I want to purchase the stereo you got for your highlander as the one I purchased did not fit, even though it said it would. Also is the harness plug and play? Thank you, nice video.

Did you use the link I provided in the description? What model was it? Most stereos will work if you have mounting kit and wire adapter, but the one I lost in the description is Toyota specific. Hope that helps.

how did you find a radio that was pre-wired for a Toyota? Those radios listed above are no longer available. You used the backup camera listed?

Hello Jkubys, I just looked up "Custom Fit Android Corolla". I no longer have my affiliate with AMAZON, but this is the new version of the radio listed above: www.amazon.com/XTRONS-Android-Navigation-Support-Corolla/dp/B08GC8K7K3?ref_=ast_sto_dp . I did install the NATIKA Backup camera in the tailgate and ran the wire along the headliner trim on the driver side. I had a Kenwood installed, but it was slow and did not work as well as this radio, that is why I did not include, but will do a follow-up on this radio and should include info on back-up camera.. @@jkubys The unit I put in did not list the Highlander either, but everything fits well with the base unit that comes with the Highlander. I don't know if it would with the high end unit that came with the Highlander, you may need a wire harness. If you give it a try, please let me know how it works. looks like the new unit is much faster. Enjoy!

@@jkubys It will fit the Highlander with base unit like the one I show. The Highlander did also come with a high end radio, that one would need a wire harness as it has more speakers and drivers, but the unit will fit nicely.

What is the measurement of the new unit?

It has a 6.95 inch screen, and fits in the Toyota dash in place of one similar to the one I took out. Please see product links in the description if you need further details on the unit.

Yes, but only if you use USB connection. Bluetooth is only for calls

Thank you for watching and taking the time to reach out to me. It depends on your skill and comfort level as to how long it may take. If you are not installing a backup camera or other screens that need wire routing it can take a 1/2 hour. I ran the parking break wire to ground to save time and allow the DVD player to function while driving. Add 2 to 3 hours to mount backup camera. Hope that helps.
