As a programmer, I find the Xiaomi pathing so satisfying to watch.

i want a robot vacuum cleaner with Xiaomi's Ai map, Dyson's suction capabilities & iRobot's rug capabilities.

For the price you could get 3 Xiaomi for 1 irobot or dyson, imagine you get 3 xiaomi cleaning your house everyday at different schedule.

Having owned Roombas and Dysons. The Dyson takes my vote, never had a navigational issue, and at 6 years, the unit still runs perfect. Longevity is the biggest issue with the competition.

its a shame to see Roomba not dominating the navigational algorithms here as it is one of the earliest robot vacuum maker. Xiaomi clearly has a better software while Dyson as expected has the best vacuum technology and hardware. Although when you factor in the cost, Xiaomi is the clear overall winner.

Roomba i7+ .... I just bought one. Hands down the best one I have ever owned and never have full issues as it dumps itself.

I think the Roomba 980 wins because it seemed to do slightly better than the Xiaomi on the dirt on tile test visually from my perspective. :)

A combination of all three, as a few have mentioned below. I used to have Roomba before there were any others available. I had four or five at one time - big house with guests - and I have to say that when they worked the floors were much cleaner than regular vacs, unless you were vacuuming it everyday manually. Even then I think because these cleaners are closer to the floor and don't really disturb anything, they do a better job. And best is, you don't have to do it !

Also I can run 3 Xiaomi robots for the price of the Roomba and Dyson... Haha, someone wrote exactly the same as I did without me knowing it. I will leave this comment to emphasize it.

Hi there. We've got a Neato Botvac Connted and are very pleased and satisfied with the cleaning results on all kinds of surfaces and the plenty carpets in our flat. The Botvac Connected (it's our second Neato vacuuming robot) should have been in the number of robots tested. I bet you it would have won. Kind regards from Germany.

I agree with the 980 irobot, i have him at home and does a very good job on the carpets and a bit less on hard and parket (wooden) floors. The one thing I miss is from iRobot, they do not update the firmware frequently only the iOS app with minor changes. Looking at the price I payed for this vacuum cleaner I expected more via the app like steering the 980 in directions I want, but the app does not offer this functionality! Also custom mapping is not foreseen in the app, a real shame considering the price for this product! Also the noise for this device is quite loud, more than 70dB, there is in my opinion also room for improvements there! All in all a very decent robot vacuum cleaner that does the job, but for this price irobot needs to deliver on their promises on the level of software and firmware upgrades!

These tests push each robot to the limit but are unreal. The daily routine should be always mandatory: a bigger room with some obstacles and a widely distributed layer of many kind of dirt on the floor! And what about the total cleaning time? What the hell means to pour huge chunks of fur on the ground or a mountain of dust in a single spot? That's utterly unreal.

I bought the roborock s5 new for 400$ over the roomba 980 that cost 900+$. Them being so close in performance and sometimes the xiaomi (roborock) winning out makes the s5 a super easy buy. The mop is nice too. I love this thing.

The Dyson seems a bit dim :P

For shug rugs search on Ytb: roomba black carpet fix. That fix works also on xiaomi or other robots. Basically, they see the rug as a cliff thats why it doesn't go up on it. Also, if you have a lot of rugs then get a roomba because the xiaomi's wheels doesnt have a lot of power to move the robot on the carpet. I've tested both a xiaomi/roborock and 2 roombas and the roombas went on the carpets (after applying the fix) with ease. The xiaomi/roborock barely moved on them and the side brush would tie with the carpet string because is from silicone.

What a shame that you did not include the Vorwerk Kobold VR200 in that test. At a "Stiftung Warentest" test (most trusted German testing magazine) it left all the competition far behind. The competition included the Roomba, but not Dyson or Xiaomi.

Dyson says the tank tracks makes it slower but giving it more traction like a real tank and i know that irobot says its rubber brushes is anti tangle

Ditch all the carpet. Have minimal furniture. Don't throw abnormal amounts of dirt on the bare floor. Life gets easier. Great review.

I would not say that the dirt test in the carpet was really fair cause, you used the previous test which showed the dirt spread much more all over the room for the Xiaomi and iRobot and when you spread the dirt for the Dyson, it was in a much heavier pattern which prevented it from getting it all up efficiently. Also, the carpets and a controlled experiment would require you to use new carpet never soiled and a more equal distribution of the debris as to eliminate different work loads.

Thought about robots but I Love my Dyson V10.

Xiaomi has way better navigation than both and since I don't have shag carpet or crap loads of hair in my house, I'll go with that for a fraction of the price of the others. It gives the 980 a run for its money and only loses slightly to it on suction.

Not realistic tests, you missed the point ! These vacuums are not for heavy cleaning, they are not a replacement for traditional vacuum but they are helping tools, they help the house keeper to reduce the number of times he/she uses the traditional vaccum.

I think you need a robot mop with all those non carpeted flooring you have :) PS: i need to watch your review of robot mops before i buy one :)

I have 4 rooms all hard floors, no pets and fairly simple layout and no dirt on the floor (seriously how do you get dirt from the outside on the floor inside of your house?), just regular house dust. I own 980 which is awesome piece of technology but I think it is overkill for my situation, If I could go back in time I would buy xiaomi for half the price. iRobot should reconsider their pricing because these chinese robots are going to steal their market share soon.

Since it wasn't pointed out in the video... The cost difference between these vacs is huge... I bought the Xiaomi NEW for $285... The Roomba used to be in that 1k range but I've seen sales as low as $799... and the big loser (IMO) is Dyson at $1,000. For the money it's a no brainier, not to mention you can drive the Xiaomi around like an RC car when you're bored :)

The Xiaomi Mi 2 also MOPS! Strike. It's my choice since my house is laminate in every room except the landing (thin pile carpet) The kitchen has dark high quality lino strips but the dark colour shows EVERY speck of dust/dropped food from the high chair/dirt (never again would i pick a dark colour). The mrs sweeps it 3-4 times a day because of the mess 2 kids and a baby leave - not anymore :-) This beauty will "Live in the kitchen and that zone will have runs more often...controlled with the app the floor will be cleaned as the dinner cooks. - genius design with a 2 in in1...at the price too it's perfect. Spares are already available too. Sure a dedicated high end cleaner will clean better as will a dedicated manual vacuum (I'll use for car/deep pile rug) I love the navigation of the Xiaomi Mi and i'll just set more room passes for those times when I tip half a cup of dirt on the floor :-)Great review and thanks!

Why does the dyson 360 looks random beacuse wahts its doing is mapping the room the size and objects in its way u migh be thinking why its like that because it dosent save the map you might be asking well why is the pattern of cleaning is diffrent because the roomba only can see in front of it the dyson can see 360 and also the wheel is diffrent the dyson has tank track it makes the robot slower but more traction when getting on high carpets and also the brushes differs the dyson has a nylon brushes the roomba has i call it aggitators because it aggitates the carpet so good

For my needs, Xiaomi wins hands down. I have no carpets, I do have a pet, but that quantity of hair is just ridiculous and more than he sheads in two years. Dyson has another major flaw besides that ridiculous navigation - it's height. Xiaomi can (barely) fit under the kitchen elements, sofa, etc., Dyson is probably 2 inches taller.
