About Andy:
ANDY IRVINE is one of the great Irish singers, his voice one of a handful of truly great ones that gets to the very soul of Ireland. He has been hailed as "a tradition in himself".

Wonderful , a true artist that will be forever remembered in Irishfolk music and around the world, I saw you play live in Rostrevor at the festival. I don't think you where impressed when I said how much I appreciated you playing smaller venues as I was not prepared to go to the big events.

So, I can only tell you the ones I recognize because I have them on CD: The first one is called „When the boys are on parade“ from the album Way out yonder the second is The Ballad of Renardine on „Changing Trains“ by Mozaik third: „I wish I was in Belfast Town“ on Parachilna fourth: „A prince among men“ from „Rain on the roof“ and the: The Dandenong also on Parachilna the next two I don't know, then comes: „The highwayman“ from „Way out yonder“ the next one is „O'Donoghue's“ also on changing trains then comes „Three Huntsmen“ from Abocurragh The next one, „time will cure me“ I found on the Planxty album „The well below the valley“ then comes „the close shave“ from Abocurragh the next I don't know Then comes „As I roved out“ from „The well below the valley“ „My heart is tonight in Ireland“ is found on „Rain on the roof“ and others then comes „farewell to Kellswater“ from „Parachilna“ the next, „A blacksmith courted me“ I have on Mozaik „live at the powerhouse“ and others the next is called „never tire of the road“ on „Rain on the roof“ and others and the last, „The plaines of Kildare“ is on „Andy Irvine / Paul Brady“

Can somebody please tell me the tuning on Andy's Bouzouki, it sounds too low for GDAD

His bouzouki is usually tuned GDAD, but the others are tuned differently (I mean the mandolas, the "Basouki" also called a "Blarge"( the big one), and I suspect also the "Andyline". However, I believe the chords and fingers job are the same, a bit like if you put a capo on a guitar tuned in a certain way, you use the same chords but higher on the neck...

love andy, but there's far too much complicated and wild playing going on - he looks stressed and it doesnt suit the songs nor the singing ... the audience would enjoy more, if he´d enjoy more. but maybe theats just me :-)

I wonder about that all the time. He was just as involved when i saw him in a small club twenty five years back.
