Dr. Mayim Bialik

2 жыл бұрын

Andy Richter (Conan, Madagascar, Three Questions with Andy Richter podcast) opens up about his childhood, mental health struggles, and his almost 30-year tenure as a late night tv sidekick. He details his experience with depression and lack of self-assuredness at an early age, and explains what lured him to performing. Andy describes the lack of agency and confusion he felt for being okay with his role as a sidekick, learning to be by himself and navigate the dating world after divorce, and what might be next for his professional career. Mayim and Andy consider the benefits of therapy and medication, the importance of mental healthcare for low income individuals, and the psychological benefits of having a dog. Mayim discusses ways to manage mental health while grieving in another installment of Ask Mayim Anything.

Andy’s dad was an instructor of mine in grad school, Russian phonetics, in the mid 90s. It was poignant to hear how much he missed his dad as a child. Larry wasn’t a very inspiring instructor for me, we butted heads a lot, and I remember being really surprised that Andy was his son. I’m happy for Andy that he found help and real solutions to his issues.

Oh my gosh, I love that! When Andy said he often tells his kids, is what you're saying for war or peace? I need to start saying that to my kids. They often say the meanest, snappiest things to each other. And, sometimes they can be so kind.

Partner and not sidekick: so beautiful! And so lovingly funny when they began designing this podcast..and ending with a micro, a cam and a new desk for Jonathan! I adore how free and comfy Jonathan is now! This podcast is going bigger and bigger, and the hosting plays along! So thrilling how Andy’s dad came out to him. And so beautiful Andy’s reaction when his own son came out too. As it should always be: natural, open and so lovingly! Thanks you all for a great episode again!

Let yourself time to grief, to feel sorry, to feel bad. It’s the beginning of the cure process. And how relable are Andy’s words when talking about medication: “Why you need help?” How bad this ancient stoic European roots we’ve inside did to us! (Still resonates in my European ears “what hurts, cures!”) And yes to Mental Health care as a Human Right! THAT’S IT! Thank you Mayim and Jonathan for another amazing episode! 💜

Trintellix has been a real game changer in my life! I went from having trouble leaving my house to having trouble leaving my bedroom to trintellix giving me my life back. Of course I still have rough days but I have a lot more good ones now. Also it really spoke to me when Mayim said maybe I just need to be a better me. The struggle is real on that one. I feel I need to be a better me all the time and yet when Mayim said it I just wanted to hug her and tell her how she is helping so many of us with this pod cast.

This show, with the exception of the previous one, is so engaging. I'm starting to enjoy Jonathan's and Mayim's volleys to each other. Their reciprocity is endearing. Mayim's candor is refreshing, helpful, and disarming. But for the riches and gender, Mayim is me.

I cannot thank you enough for your work.. all of it, but specifically this video... being at hairstylist/educator for a major manufacturer- who ended a 7 year relationship 1 month before the pandemic hit and my daily life ceased on every level for months and I've spent the last 18 months doing everything discussed in this video, while maneuvering with clients and eventually returning to facilitating classes around the country... I needed, beyond what words can describe, everything you 3 discussed..... Thank you!!!❤❤❤❤

Good therapists are more quiet, letting the patient do most of the talking. Therapists that talk more during a session may need therapy themselves, especially if they are interjecting themselves into the session.

Hi Mayaim and crew! ... I love the show! I'm trying to say how gorgeous you look ma'am on the promos and Jeopardy show?! You've got it 'on lock' girl!!! Look forward to many more games with you as ! I absolutely value being jind for most of my existence! but sometimes it IS being KIND to be honest with an opinion... in the long run?! . So here's mine: Can I just request a little tweek to your opening song?? A great catchy tune, I like the info for most part but There is a redundancy that unfortunately comes off as 'arrogance' .?! ..saying that you have "a degree or two" feels totally legit! & understandable! Even 'needed' for validity in your experience and your opinions!!. But to also say that that you "know a thing or two"??? I can't imagine why that's in there?? Everybody I mean every sad soul on this Earth knows a thing or two and even if you know more than the average bear (clearly!) It just feels like...NOT Humor ...feels like arrogance or insecurity... that you just want to double and triple check that we know how Smart you are...(I think you are-not related to actual 'intelligence' but 'personality' here) and that we know that you think Kylie of your opinions (which I would argue everyone thinks highly of their own opinion-so pointless and obvious to 'speak it'. Mayaim, We are your fans! Really!! ! We know how smart you are!!! we know the valuable opinions you holdl!!! and your co-pilots!! Please consider shortening your opening song just that bit?! (Side note: it actually concerns me that the writers of that song might ..actually have been throwing in a little'back door or 'sideways' insult anyway?! But she doesn't mean that they don't also admire you intelligence etc!) it's a lovely tune just a little bit of a 'grating on ones neveres' ( too much bragging or insecurity( anyway, I look forward to next episode (not into every single guest draws me in, but I'm sure that's average ) however... Your mom!! is the best!! I am sorry that podcast with her seems to make you understandably uncomfortable!(my mother makes me uncomfortable too! No matter what everybody else thinks... of her gregarious abd charming ways!!) The woman knows how to push every button she installed- like a pro!! Gotta love them anyway!! bye for now-virtual hugs!
