Andy is an amazing Bassist! The bass line in Barbarism Begins At Home is Classic! James Jamerson of the 80's

The original songs were recorded in F# and he is playing in standard E tuning just in case people are wondering why he is missing notes or not playing along. I’ve been playing guitar for a decade and still would struggle trying to compensate in the different tuning.

for those who critisize please understand and respect that even the most talented and proffessional musicains can and do sometimes have a hard time remembering or learning songs,cos after all thats how they learn songs in the first place ,just a human thing!! songs dont just magicaly appear on your fingers ready to instanly play--even with tons of talnt,it takes hard work and dedication! after 34 yrs of playing bass proffessionally ,i speak as a voice of experiance.........

You couldn't be more right about that..... I've been playing guitar at venues in my life, and I sometimes struggle to play an E chord when I'm tired!

No diss and although 8 years later, here is exactly what's going on here and allow me to restore your faith in Andy Rourke...The guy is asking him to play songs that are tuned to F# while the bass is tuned to E. so essentially he has to play each note 1 full step up causing him to fumble the basslines. if the guy had a bass capo or played songs tuned to standard he would've killed all of those songs!
@IStehSHIT12 жыл бұрын
this is the only video I have ever watched on youtube to dream about. Or well I didn't dream about it, I just had that bassline stuck in my head in my "halfsleap" or what ever you want to call it, it was so good. This is not some kind of joke, it actually was a kind of wierd experience
