@@merylschoenbaum319 "DOES sound like an angel" - isn't that actually an OPINION dressed up as a fact? Since we all know exactly what angels sound like... That is one thing. Secondly, where is the negation? You are entitled to your opinion, just as I am entitled to mine - that Fragile both lyrically and musically is the bettet song, so don't you don't me, OK? You might want to avoid posting something in public if you don't want your opinions to be confronted and your precious feelings hurt.

DrittAdrAtta Nope, two different things. My comment was written with good intentions to inform Alex that there’s a song where Sting voice actually does have an angelic sound and he might want to hear that quality in his voice. Random notes: Guitarist Andy Summers is ten years older than Sting and drummer Stewart Copeland and was in The Animals (House of the Rising Sun) in the late 1960s after the first big split that led to their bassist becoming Hendrix's manager. Andy recently had a two person band called Circa Zero (album title Circus Hero) with musician Rob Giles who foes everything except guitar on that album. I vaguely know Rob as I've seen him at various tiny venues and he was in a band called The Rescues with some people I actually know. The Police influenced the reggae aspects of Rush including the end bit of The Spirit of Radio. Neil was a huge fan of Stewart in particular. Stewart Copeland was the drummer for The Police. He brother (their manager at this time) later founded IRS Records famous for discovering R.E.M. His father was in the CIA. The actual CIA. Sting started in the movie adaptation of Quadrophenia right after this album and that movie came out in (1979). Sting had later success. ;)

Miles Copeland did not discover R.E.M. Bill Berry worked at the Paragon Booking Agency in Macon with Ian Copland who was Stuart Copeland's brother. He and Mills Mills used to hang out with Ian who turned Bill and Mike onto all the new wave music that was coming out of England in the late seventies R.E.M. opened for the Police in December of 1980 at the Fox Theater in Atlanta when XTC canceled at the last minute. R.E.M. had a single on hibtone records and they had demo tapes circulating. The New York Times had already put their single on their best of list for 1981 They turned down an offer from R.C.A. and finally chose I.R.S. because it was an up an coming independent label known for letting artists make their own creative decisions.

I've seen lots of great Police tunes mentioned here but one of my all-time favorites doesn't seem to have been mentioned yet ... Invisible Sun. It's a dark and gritty tune compared to most of their other singles. That guy singing is Sting. He definitely may be from wayyyy before you're time although he's still around now his voice doesn't have the range it had then. The drummer Stewart Copeland is just as famous as a soundtrack creator for numerous TV shows and movies over the years.
