The disaster draft rule was put into place when the Minneapolis Lakers had a plane crash land in a corn field and if the players had died, it would have caused the franchise to go under.

You should have mentioned the Refs in the Blazers Warriors game actually forced Anthony Tolliver to step on the court for one play only to show he really was injured. After that play he was allowed to go off again and they let George return.

Having a rule that prohibits punching the ball seems pretty redundant when your watching Jokic have volleyball no look pass or off rebund, and goes from waterpolo one hand catch straight to mlb slingshot pass or a full court QB throw.....

I never got why mop boys need to dry the court while play is happening and not at a dead ball time or free throws I get wanting the court to be dry and safe for players but they need to time it better

Stephen Curry sprained his MCL during the 2016 first round against the Rockets when he slipped on a sweaty wet spot that wasn't mopped earlier in the play, causing him to miss games and have lingering issues throughout the rest of the playoffs, potentially costing the Warriors the chip. I'd choose the occasional mop boy interference over risking player safety.

IF 5 players from the Kings die, that's actually a blessing in disguise for the Kangz' players, at least they don't have to play for that disaster of a team again. Imagine if there's a disaster draft now and Lakers didn't protect Westbrook and he got moved to the KANGZ...I am pretty sure there will be another disaster draft soon.

6:23 *Fouled Out But Still Playing* Back in the 90's when I used to play in a neighborhood league, the team plays with the *remaining 4 players.. then 3.. until only 2 left.* It is impossible ('prohibited') to continue when a team has 1 remaining player left, because he cannot inbound the ball and pass it to himself 😒.

In the disaster draft case, does the team still pay the remaining contract of the deceased members? How about the claimed player, will the contract be transferred?

Reggie Lewis's salary still counted against the Celtics when he passed in 1993. But the NBA held a vote to whether or not it should go against Boston and it was voted 26-1 for it to still go against them because all the teams hated Boston so much because they beat on everyone in the 80s I know there's exceptions though I'm pretty sure and also it's been nearly 30 years since Reggie's death so it's possible it's different

Hi Andy, love your videos.. I don't know if it fall on the strangest rule, but what is the rule about the Field Goal Attempt on the shooting foul? it's like this, the box score of Player A is 25pts on 4-8 shooting, with 2-5 on 3pts. how will a player score a 25pts in only 8shots? because of the 15 Free Throw he made. That player takes 20 FT on 10 shooting fouls.. Why is the shot attempted not count on FGA if he doesn't made the basket after the whistle? Maybe Corey Magette or Kevin Martin falls here on your Shocking Stat videos.. thanks again and keep up the good work.. peace.. ✌

I think they need to locked-up 6 to 8 in the disaster draft. Just get the other players from the G-league. Just give the team 3 years a higher draft picks. Like in every year they will get 1 secured 1st to 3rd draft picks but it is a lottery. So, They can rebuild faster.

It also interesting to know what players Lakers will protect during the disaster draft..WIll it be the ages player who only can play around 2 to 3 seasons more? or Maybe young talents (if they have)? or Westbrook?

Nah, mote like...who they gonna kill for this to happen? Just imagine, a Lakers roster purge all around the town of LA. Where everyone try to kill at least 5 of their worst player so they can have a chance to quick rebuild/retool. My guess Westbrook will be in no.1 most wanted list. He would become the enemy of the town.

Here's a thought...leave all G-league players unprotected for the "disaster draft" whether or not the NBA franchise has a G-league affiliate. But to make it interesting -- if any NBA player played at least one game for their G-League affiliate in the previous 3 seasons, they're automatically unprotected. That way, the team that kills their players (sorry, had to mention it) can still get someone good.

i can imagine a world where there is no mandatory time outs, in general european sports dont use time-outs at all, and they're better for it, a 90 minute game actually finishes in around 90 minutes, not 3 hours.

damn I think punching the ball should be legal, but I can see how it could be dangerous (imagine a Draymond Green or Pat Bev "accidental" uppercut to the jaw in the playoffs looking for a peanut Tillman style strip lol). But the potential for Bird-esque touch passes is too saucy (and I think more violence is always good for the sport but thats just me)
