The AI based asset manager from German developers Excire has received a shiny new 2024 point release. I put it through its paces and test its capabilities with my landscape photography archive.

Nice review, thanks. I use Mylio as my DAM and edit in either Luminar Neo or ON1 Photo Raw 2024.

If I use the AI portion to find a specific person, can I then tag that person with their name, then accurately find more pictures of that person ?

Didn't do it when I tested, but there's been some big updates since then, so your best bet is to reach-out to Excire - they're a proactive developer. :)

Great review, as usual. Sounds like both Excire and Peakto do not allow re-organziation of the folder structure, including moving files to other folders or adding/deleting folders. These functions are critical in library organization, especially with the ability to find and group pictures that these program allow. If it is true, that these functions are not available, how could you work around this deficit and re-organize your libraries.

I suppose the issue is that, in the case of something like LR catalogs, they'd have to do some in-depth database work to modify the database or risk breaking the file location information.

The alternative software is Mylio and what is the other: Sign Pic Two? I wasn't able to find this online with a search. What is the name exactly?

Can't remember if it is mentioned in the video, but of course a very important distinction between Excire and Peakto is that the former is only available for Windows, and the latter only for Mac. So is there any point isn comparing the two? Surely no one is going to change their OS for the sake of one program?

No I don't suppose anyone will switch their OS, but the apps (nominally at least) do the same job. Also - Windows virualisation is excellent on MacOS these days - so you could easily run Excire on Mac though I'm not sure the opposite is true.

Thanks for this helpful review! In your testing of Excire foto, do you recall seeing if Excire has the capability to create system folders, and move image files into them according to the organizing function results?

No, it doesn't do that. Everything's built around a database and the folders created are in the database not the file system.

Andy, what is the software you mention at 13:17 in your video. I cant quite decipher what it is and havent been able to find it on line. What is the spelling?

I am not a photographer but I am looking for a program to help search and consilidate my photos, remove duplicates etc. Is this program good for that? Is it usuable as a standalone program? Is there another program you could recommend for a casual user? Not too expensive. Thankyou

It will find duplicates, yes - it's not a terrible app, just lacking in terms of its AI capabilities. Strongly suggest you download the trial and see if it's a good fit for you.
