The first time I heard this song (and Video Killed the Radio Star), I was about to head out on a mission but decided to just roll up into an alley and listen for a while because these two songs were like nothing I'd ever heard before... then I backed out of the alley and went on a happy rampage. :)

80s were the best decade ever, far far better than now. we had no technology, had to depend on playing records, tape,s, or the radio for music, only 3 channels on the tv, but them 3 channel were mile,s better than tv today, sometimes there was 2 or 3 programs on at the same time, so we would put a blank tape in the video to tape 1 while watching the other, now there,s 100s of channels on tv, but nothing worth watching, also comedians were funny ,where you could have a good laugh, not like todays so called comedians, that are useless.

Brilliant idea and production. Perfect combination of oriental and European style in clothing dance and singing style. So funny so dynamic makes you woonder every second if you are looking at tv show from Japan or from a disco in Great Britain. Love it after so many years. She is sweet alert delicate and original. What can I say. I can not get enough of it. The story pretends to be a sad one but the performance leaves you with a happy feeling. Strange but not unusual for that era (The artists from various bands were smiling and seem to have fun and enjoy themselves no matter what they were singing about ...unless it was hard a rock band).

Mary Sandeman, better known by her stage name Aneka /əˈniːkə/ (born 20 November 1947 in Edinburgh, Scotland), is a Scottish singer. In 1981 she reached number one in the UK Singles Chart with her song "Japanese Boy". She was well known for the Oriental image she adopted for the song. After her brief foray into pop, she reverted to her real name and re-established herself as an accomplished singer of Scottish traditional music. This music career having begun in Scotland as a teenager and continued up until her first hit, as Mary Sandeman. It was only at the time of the 1981 hit that she changed her name.

Could it be another he's found? It's breaking up the happy home. Mister, can you tell me where my love has gone? He's a Japanese boy. I woke up one morning and my love was gone, Oh, my Japanese boy, ooh, I miss my Japanese boy. People ask about him every day, oh oh, oh oh. Don't know what to tell them, what can I say? Oh oh, oh oh. If only he would write me or call A word of explanation, that's all. It would stop me climbing the wall. It's breaking up the happy home. Mister can you tell me where my love has gone? He's a Japanese boy. I woke up one morning and my love was gone, Oh, my Japanese boy, ooh, I miss my Japanese boy. Was it something I've said or done, That made him pack his bags up and run? Could it be another he's found? It's breaking up the happy home. Mister can you tell me where my love has gone? He's a Japanese boy. I woke up one morning and my love was gone, Oh my Japanese boy. Mister can you tell me where my love has gone? Mister can you tell me where my love has gone?

i heard last week on Simon Mayo's show on Greatest Hits radio a request from a guy about his teacher in 1981 Mrs Braithwaite who told the class that she was a friend of Mary's. To prove it she got her autograph for everyone in the class!
