There is no issue in allowing the roomba to dock after the cleaning cycle is over for two reasons: li-ion batteries work based on cycles (1 full charge = 2 half charges) and if the cleaning cycle is over, the floor is supposedly clean. But nice to have a replacement that last longer and very likely is cheaper as well.

Hi. Great vid. Have one quick question .... when replaceing ni-mh battery with Li- ion do you also need a specific li-ion charger ? Or goes ok with the standard roomba charger. Thanks again for the vid

No such thing as overheating a Roomba. It will get as hot as it ever gets within 30 minutes. This is true for normal conditions, of course.

Thank for your review. Can I ask till now is there is issue using the ANewPow battery on your Roomba? I thinking about changing mine into Lithium on my Roomba 780. I just worried that it will damage the iRobot in any way coz in my country iRobot is very expensive :-(. I also worry on overheating, coz my iRobot tend to get stuck either under my sofa or stuck with my kids toys. If the battery last for 4 hours, it may be trying to get unstuck for 4 hours.

Usually when the Roomba gets stuck it shuts off. I've been using this battery for 2+ years, running it 8 hours per week. I had not issues with it. However I do manual launch the Roomba now, instead of scheduling it.

You can have it run until depletion by hitting the 'dock' button, and having no powered dock around.

I have a Scooba 450 robot. I would much appreciate your advice if you can give it: I want to replace its standard NiMH battery with a lithium battery. I see on the internet that several lithium batteries that might be suitable. For example, there is a 14.4 volt lithium battery with 4500 mAh (claims to be suitable for the Scooba 450) and another Lithium battery of 2000 mAh that also claims to be suitable. Which one is best? I'm afraid I don't know the significance of the mAh values.

The mAh is usually a metric of how much "charge" the battery can hold, so for example, if a 1000 mAh is a 1 hour battery (for that particular device) then usually a 2000 mAh is a 2 hour battery.

Thanks for the reply. The issue is that iRobot advises against swapping their standard NiMH battery for a Lithium one. So if I do opt for a lithium battery, I want to ensure that my robot is not harmed and that it will effectively recharge the lithium battery. There is a lithium battery by vhbw-tec which I am told is suitable for my Scooba 450. The battery is 4,500 mAh and 14.4 volt. It will fit the Scooba, but I am afraid it may damage it or not re-charge. Are you familiar with the brand vhbw-tec?

I want to add that vbhw-tec also do a 3000 mAh lithium battery (also 14,4 volt) which is a little cheaper than the 4,500 mAh that they offer. I am told that both are suitable for the Scooba 450. Do you think that the 3000 mAh would be easier to re-charge and better for the Scooba?

This is the brand I've been using for 2+ years and it says its compatible with the Scooba 450 also. amzn.to/2ijfznP I've been using it for 2+ years 3X to 4X a week, and its held up fine and still runs my roomba for 3+ hours.

Also watch this video, because it explains how with a 4+ hour battery the Roomba does not report the Blinking Lights correctly, meaning it thinks the battery is running low when it still has 2+ hours left on it. Might be the same for the Scooba. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hseiq7F_sZ2lgok.html

rnfets Because when something mechanical is designed to only run 1 hour, and all of a sudden you run it for 4 hours continuously , there is a chance it may overheat and break. That has been my experience with other Vacuum cleaner motors as well as other motors in general. Just to bring up the possibility as a precaution.
