About Kirby:
Kirby Pábalan-Táyag Aráullo is a renowned Filipino Culture Bearer and currently the National Coordinator for Culture and Heritage for NAFCON (National Alliance for Filipino Concerns). He is a Dátû and Lakan by blood, and an Activist at heart. Kirby is a direct descendant of the last Paramount Kings of Luzon (of both Lakandúlâ of Tondo and Rája Matandá of Maynílâ), and of the anti-colonial revolutionary Katipuneros and World War II Guerilyeras who fought for the liberation of the Philippines from colonialism. His upbringing exposed him to the contradicting worlds of traditional politics and grassroots activism.
With a keen interest in varying fields (such as history, government, and human rights) and a strong commitment to serve the community, Kirby studied in some of the world's most prestigious institutions, such as the University of California, Davis, Harvard University, and Université catholique de Louvain. Kirby is also the Co-Founder of the Bulosan Center for Filipino Studies at UC Davis and author of the groundbreaking book "Black Lives & Brown Freedom: Untold Histories of War, Solidarity, & Genocide." He is a visiting professor at various colleges in the Philippines and a research fellow with Ágúman Sínúpan Singsing, an institute for indigenous advocacy and the study of Kapampángan language, history, and culture. Kirby is also well-known for his educationally engaging KZfaq channel where you can find videos about history, culture, and everything in between!
Dátû Kirby is an educator who is well-rooted in his culture and passionate about his colorful heritage (Kapampángan, Tagálog, Indigenous Áytá, Pangasinan, and Spanish-Basque-Portuguese Mestizo); he strives to decolonize Philippine history and democratize Ethnic Studies through knowledge and creativity.

Salamat dito Kirby. As I have mentioned sa previous comment ko, frustrated ako na walang access ang pangkaraniwang Pilipino, maski sa katiting na impormasyon na meron tayo, sa pre-colonial Philippine Islands. Kung laganap sana ang mga ganitong kasulatan, baka mas may respeto tayo sa ating sarili bilang Pilipino, mas critical tayo sa social media feeds at hindi tayo madaling malinlang dahil hindi madaling mabali ang kasaysayan.

This Tallano name was never recorded in Philippine history. Most likely this was simply a product of someone’s wild imagination to elevate the stature of the Philippine leaders at that time to royal level.

I majored in history at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) and did my graduate studies in Government and History at Harvard University, I also did graduate studies in International Law at the Université catholique de Louvain (based in Belgium). I also taught a course on Precolonial Philippines at UC Davis while also being the co-founder and Director of Operations for the Bulosan Center for Filipino Studies. So yes, I did my research and I have more than a decade of formal training to study, teach, and write about history, political science/government, and international law 😊

Hindi rin ako naniniwala sa tallano gold, pero tanong lang po, paano po ba gumagana ang utang sa world bank at anong halaga neto? What I learned from studying history at UC Davis and Harvard are the critical thinking skills to analyze the information from multiple sides, not to blindly believe one side over another. I also know enough to understand how politics work in the Philippines. My family are family friends with both the Marcos and the Aquinos, I mean even Marcos Sr.'s own best friend from law school and most trusted confidant is one of my Lolos. I was raised with insights from both sides, I was raised to know the good and bad sides of both parties. I have also given my fair share of criticisms of the Aquinos and their party, based on what I carefully studied. What I shared in this video is history based on proven facts and strong evidence. What I learned from these universities is how to properly do research, even if it doesn't align with my personal beliefs. History is not black and white. I also included a long list of resources for the viewers to dig deeper. I am not imposing anything. You are free to believe what you want to believe, but I do stand confidently on what I said.
