It's crazy how emotional I get just listening to your stories of grief; it's not even my grief...yet, when you (anyone, really) talk about your memories of your loved ones, I feel it too, and tears fill my eyes as if it were my own memories.

Thank you so much for making this episode. Harlan Ellison once wrote that getting old means watching everyone around you die, and realizing that it could be your turn next (I'm paraphrasing). I never felt that line hit so hard until this year, where everyone around me has been dying and the grief has been so hard to deal with. Hearing you guys talk about this stuff is truly a huge help at this junction in my life, so again: thank you so much :)

45:44 One of my favorite psychology professors, who was teaching a class called The Psychology of Death & Dying, told us about when a family member of his took his life. He was writing his dissertation on suicidality and religion, and couldn’t understand how he’d missed the signs. One of his family members shared something so profound, “If you’d seen the signs, you would’ve done something.” The signs are often so hard to see, and it’s so hard to know what is going on behind the scenes. To anyone watching, reading the comments, or anyone who sees this who’s lost a loved one to suicide, give yourself grace. And to Angela and Rainn, thank you for sitting together, sharing your story, and helping us all find joy through the lens of grief, comedy, companionship, and spirituality.

Angela brings me so many good vibes (just like you Rainn). And it's so weird cause you know we don't even know each other but it's almost like you can feel the level of intimacy and brotherhood from here. (Far from los Angeles lol). So beautiful when you both shared about your dads. From 2022 and 2023 I dealt with some griefs in my life. I lost a friend, an old love, my grandma and my dog. They now moved to a place inside of me now, where I know it's safe and beautiful. So I guess we don't lose people, they just morph into something we can't see and they live inside of us, that's my view of this subject. ❤️ beautiful conversation.
