all this beef purely stems from her relationship with justin bieber, when they were going back and forth with their relationship drama, anybody that had any modicum of association with him was immediately seen as opposition, and sometimes there were, but now selena fans have gotten to the point where they’re just hyper aggressive and defensive over selena and perceive anything as a direct towards her, mainly regarding ppl in this particular drama

It’s not really just Selena Stan’s anymore. Selena has been a hot topic for the past few years, and so everyone who’s interested in pop culture just gave their input. Everyone wanted to figure out the drama, so a narrative was built with Selena and the other girlies. So all of their actions are analyzed and made to fit the narrative. There’s also plenty of people who thinks every Selena post is shade to Hailey. And isnt the Kylie timothee drama based on assumptions of a conversation Selena had with Taylor that sm made about /kylie/?

You’re referring to her using ‘we should talk about bigger things’ as a diversion during taylor Kanye drama. Which Taylor was right about. Everyone shifted to Taylor’s side just last year and ts has spoken about how the bullying from that scandal traumatized her. Selena was defending her friend. And I get the demand for influential people to speak up about politics, but people basically threw blm in her face as a gotcha moment. Just because someone presents themselves as an activist, doesn’t mean they’re going to be informed on every issue. Selena has spoken up on big topics before, mental health is her thing. She’s always pushed /mental health/ activism , you can’t expect her to get involved in all other areas and be well educated on it. It’s like demanding someone who has a platform dedicated to climate change to speak about women’s rights. They might personally care, but they might not be educated enough to speak up for women’s rights. BLM was started in 2013, it’s always been an issue. It wasn’t really a hot topic in 2017 when people criticized Selena about it. As much as agree that celebrities should speak up, if you Rush and pressure people, you’re going to get stupid responses as opposed to giving them time to get informed. Just like how Jamie Lee Curtis and jb posted pictures of the wrong city during the Israel Palestine issue. After blm protests in 2020, selena gave her platform to black activists to support the cause. That was months after the initial protests and most people moved on, but she was able to think about how she could get involved. It’s crazy how yall turned her defending her friend into an expectation for her to speak up on every political issue that comes up. She was right that the Taylor Kanye drama was dumb and yall were wrong for dragging Taylor, yet yall hold on to those defensive tweets just to accuse her of being problematic. Btw, it’s “critiqued”

@@dotcom3015 thanks for replying. I guess we will just have to respectfully disagree. I myself wasn't dragging Taylor during that & agree that it was too much. Though I still stand by that it was wrong Selena responded to people asking her to speak out against the violence towards poc by saying what good can my voice do when she has spoken numerous times on talking about human rights issues. I do agree we at times put too much pressure on celebs to talk about important topics. I still think it's hypocritical to say "we need to talk about xyz" then when asked to talk about it the response is "what good will that do?"

She does that sometimes and there’s going to be more moments where she’s hypocritical and take things back because being bipolar makes her impulsive. I expect to see some bad parts of her bipolar so I don’t take her posts too seriously. It doesn’t make sense to hold her posts against her, especially when she deletes them. Do you think people that hold that tweet against Selena were doing any activism for blm in during that time? They weren’t educating anyone on blm themselves, they just wanted to shut Selena up so they can keep bullying Taylor. In the grand scheme of things, she didn’t actually say anything against blm to hurt the cause. She was defending her friend from people who were doing real damage to someone’s mentality.

Selena didn’t get worse. She’s explained that she has bipolar. And you’re seeing her be bipolar. Mood swings, Impulsive behavior, irritability, loss of touch with reality, manic episodes is to be expected. Her behavior makes perfect sense after she talked about her experience with bipolar. Shes been like this for a while. After I understood her mental struggles, it’s easier to support her by not thinking too deep about her sm activity. You didn’t choose to deal with someone with bipolar, so she’s gonna annoy you. Sure, people deserve criticism for bad behavior. But it’s useless to keep analyzing her every post because Selena is going to continue struggling with bipolar and you’re gonna see the bad parts as well. At the end of the day, she hasn’t said or done anything truly mean publicly, you’re just tired of her actions being pushed in your face.
